so i realized how pointless the intro kind of was. so here is a chapter. to hopefully pick up some readers. we'll see..
Chapter 1;;
Tina started her mornings off the same. Getting Erica dressed, feeding her breakfast, and the two of them walking to the daycare around the corner. They lived in a small town. Everybody knew everyone, and Ms. Katrina who ran the daycare cut Tina some slack in the daycare fee. She knew that she could hardly afford to keep them in the torn up house they called a home, and wasn’t getting near enough pay at the store. Tina could use any hand out she could get.
“Hey Kat” Tina said carrying Erica inside.
“Hey Tina” she said taking Erica from her arms.
“I’ll be back around 5 to pick her up” she said giving her the months pay.
“No, hold on to that.”
“No, please take it. I can’t keep having you take her like this” she pleaded.
“Tina, you need it. What is one more kid to watch? Besides, Erica is well behaved, much better than the rest of these runts around here” she said chuckling.
“Thanks” Tina said running out the door, swiftly walking down the sidewalk to make it to the store on time.
She walked down the sidewalks at a fast pace, heart racing, but making sure to greet everyone along the way. Small towns ran the same, with small town habits. Everyone was in their usual spot at the same times everyday and said hello to every passer-by.
“It’s about time” Niki laughed when Tina pushed open the doors and ran to the back. “Just kidding…”
When Tina came back out she clocked in and went to join Niki behind the counter. Niki was the brown eyed beauty that worked the same shift as Tina each day. She was the owner’s daughter, fresh out of high school wishing and waiting to break out of their small town and head to school to be something big.
“How’s Erica” she asked politely, like she did everyday. “You know, Tina. If you need a break for yourself I’m still free to babysit”
Niki offered to babysit Erica on numerous occasions. It was obvious to everyone that a twenty year old should not have the stress and wrinkles that she carried. Everyone needed a break, but Tina refused to take one. She appreciated people’s concerns, but hated when they took pity on her for working so hard to support Erica and herself. She was a big girl, and she could handle it on her own.
The day went on, Tina worked the register while Niki helped stock things up in the store. The store resembled something from an old movie, a tiny building, family owned for years. They had everything you could think of in small numbers, at a convenience for locals. The locals would come in everyday grabbing their basic needs at the same time everyday.
“Whoa, check out those guys” Niki said as she saw three overly dressed, eccentric boys stepping up to the front door.
