Camp Rock

Well, I haven't been on for about a week due to technical problems, which is why this is so late. haha.

Now, what I have to say . . . was anyone else disappointed with Camp Rock?  Yea, it was a good movie, but not great?  Well, at least not as great as it was made up to be.  I think Disney may have promoted it TOO much.  I cried, I admit. lol  It's really touching but, I kind of saw everything coming.  Did anyone else feel the same?

Re: Camp Rock

i feel the same way.  i was kind of dissappointed.  i found it more than a little predictable and not much different than every other disney movie

don't get me wrong i love demi's voice and i support JB in everything but honestly without them in it i'm not sure it would have gotten anywhere

when i saw people say "Camp Rock changed my life".  i was a little shocked.  i'm not sure i liked it that much

so in a nutshell, you're not the only one. i'm with you!!

Re: Camp Rock

Yea, I wish Disney would change it up a bit.  Every single show/movie consists of a main character, their 2 best friends, a sibling and the rival (and sometimes the rival has 2 best friendss).  Camp Rock went a little outside of the puzzle, but not by much. It just seems a little too much like HSM.  New girl meets popular guy, guy must learn a lesson, girl upstages the mean girl.  Blah blah blah.  But, the thing that I loved about the movie, was Peggy/Magaret's storyline.  I must say, I cried during Here I Am, mainly because it's so relatable, as is Mitchie's situation.  And, did anyone notice all the similarities between this and Raise Your Voice?!?!

Re: Camp Rock

I agree. It didn't live up to the hype. I think disney may have been a little too excited to produce what they saw as another HSM franchise and didn't spend the delicate time needed to ensure a complex storyline. Everything was kind of predictable and sometimes the dialogue didn't exactly match the scene. Musically, however, it was great.

Re: Camp Rock

yes, i was disappointed. i thought the script was a little...simple. underdeveloped. i thought it was going to be fantastic because i really liked the storyline: a popstar goes to a music camp to get humbled. but it turns out it wasnt that unique of an idea at all; as you said, it followed the same disney pattern.

the only thing that kept me watching was demi's fantastic voice and of course, our boys, since ill support them in any way i can.

but no, i wasnt that pleased with it. :/

Re: Camp Rock

phew. I thought i was the only person who didn't find it "amazing". I mean i know movies aren't that original these days but come on. They even copied the EXACT same lines from other movies. Like mean girls "we never let anyone in our group but.". HSM2 "this isn't amature night!". And it really reminded me of "raise your voice". Peggy winning at the end, and demi singing in front of her class.

I felt the movie was really rushed too, and the scenes were sort of just slapped together. When it was over i seriously said "that's it". My sister stopped watching it...haha, then she asked me to explain what happened. I couldn't b/c i kept on getting the scenes mixed up. Then i was like psh, you just have to watch it for yourself. lol. Im not going to say it was the worst dc movie, but it was pretty mediocre. The acting was...um interesting. The choreography in that one scene looked so bad compared to HSM. The story line got weak too. ahh, Hopefully it will improve for CR2.

I didn't like the movie. As I was watching I said to myself "This is what I waited for...are you kidding." I would love just once for the Disney channel to make a movie that I haven't already seen more times then I can count.  The story is all the same. It didn't matter that this was a musical because the songs were boring and stupid. The characters were unrelatible and so perky that I wanted to slap them. The girl that palyed Tess was trying WAY too hard to be mean that she just got to be really annoying. The characters that I actually liked, Jason, Ella and Peggy were all kind-of shoved into the background until the end. Demi Lovato can sing but, she can't act and it makes her seem like just another cookie cutter Disney girl. Joe was unbelievable as a "Bad Boy" not matter how much he sulked around and him trying to dance in his little white skinny jeans was just too much. If Disney is going to market "Camp Rock" as a movie staring "The Jonas Brothers" how about Disney acutally puttinga all of them in the movie for more then 10 minutes.

If you want to yell at me for this then go right ahead but, this is my opinion.

Re: Camp Rock

I'm so happy to know that I wasn't the only one disappointed.  I totally agree, at the end of the movie, I was too saying "Was that it?"  And, I think the story focused a little too much on Tess and not enough on the progression of Shane Gray from bad boy to sweetheart.  He changed faster than one can say Oh My Jonas.  And, I was a little upset that there was no kiss.   Everyone was edging on for months about a kiss that didn't happen.  I think the situations that they set the plot up to be, could have been a lot better.  Oh, if only I were one of the writers. haha  Well, maybe we'll leave that job to the FF department of the site. haha Thanks everyone, for making me feel better about this.

amen. i agree with everything you said here; i also noticed it was really rushed. i found myself confused because the script was so poorly written. when i was done, i thought "...what just happened?"

and i know i shouldnt say this because its practically an attack on our boys....but they arent fantastic actors.

i just dont think that its their calling...music is. :/
