Okay, before I start, I just have to say that this is touchy subject, so I guess you aren't inclined to read.
I have a bigggg problem. So last week, my friends and I were at lunch and one of the girls was saying she thought that another one of our friends (that was at another table) cut herself. Then another girl says that it was just her cat that scratched her. I don’t really talk to her that often and I hadn’t seen her cuts or anything. But today, we were in social studies and I was talking with her and a few other people and someone saw her wrist and was like, “Are you emo? Do you cut yoursef?” and the girl (we’ll call her Sara) said, “No, why woud you think something like that?” and then she crossed her arms so you couldn’t see her wrists.
I don’t know how I got to see her cuts, but I did and I’m not an expert at this type of stuff, but I’m like almost positive that she cuts herself. Even if they aren’t they’re definitley not from a cat. She has cuts this close together ||| and then they get farther apart.
As to why she might cut herself? Well, she’s Indian and her parents are really strict about grades (like a lot of Asian parents) and she’s in all G\T and whatnot. Eighth grade (that’s the grade she’s in) is a lot tougher than seventh grade at our school and is already stressing everyone out.
The weird thing: she wears short-sleeves. Like I’ve read stuff about self-infliction and people don’t do it to get attention, so they wear long-sleeves or cut themselves places that people don’t see. Nowadays, some people (it’s not people that I know of) wear short-sleeves to get attention.
So I’m not saying she cuts herself because I have no idea. But what should I do? I mean the guidance people here aren’t helpful at all. They just threaten to suspend you if you don’t stop cutting (my other friends used to cut) and that’s really just stupid, in my opinion.
