| Can you help me understand... |

I want to get a purity ring, because it's my belief. But I'm torn between getting one and not getting one. Everyone's getting one because JB has it and I don't want to follow the trend. I love the guys to death, but getting a purity ring is something really important to me, and I don't want people to think I'm following it because of a trend.
What should I do? :|

i dealt with that too because i always promised myself to wait until marriage when i was 13 and now i am 19 but i just got a ring in june 08 because i never knew about them until JB but i still got one because it is what i believed in....i say if you want one and you want one for the right reasons go and get one...just dont get one b/c of your favorite band but by what you said you have the right state of mind to get one and if people just say you got it b/c of JB...explain to them why you got it calmly and if they still dont believe its their faults and not yours

Thank you so much Erin! I want to get one because it's MY beliefs, not because of a band. People who aren't even pure are buying rings, and they don't understand that wearing that ring is a promise to not only yourself, but God and your family. They want to follow a trend; not to make a promise. I'm really glad you replied. It really helped my problem(:

i've had the same issue. like erin i promised when i was 13 and am also 19. i got my ring four years ago though. but i agree if you want one then go get it, you're getting one for the right reasons, because it's what you believe and not because of someone else. and while other people may say that it's because of them you'll know it's not because it'll last past your love for the jb. people will say what they want, and they do trust me but you know what is what and that's all that matters :)

jenna. i definatly understand what you are saying. it gets me so upset to see "jonas fans" only getting things that jonas has, because that makes them think they are "true fans," when really, its not. people are getting purity rings JUST BECAUSE the jonas brothers has them. there is really no point in getting one, just for that reason. its your PERSONAL choice, your belief and how you feel about that situation. sames goes for only wearing converse cause JB does, or skinny jeans, or whatever trend they have. thats there personal trend, no need to copy. but don't worry about following the thread, you know? be yourself. dont care for what everyone else thinks because, whatever you believe, the only opiouion that matters is yourself, and God. if you truley believe in abstence, get the ring. that ring means so much more than, "i got it cause jonas does." its more of your belief on it, and if you truely care for yourself && repecting your body. i hope what i'm saying helps you choose. :]

If it's what you believe in, then you should get one.
I've had one for....almost three years now, and I've only known about JB for just over 2.
I've gotten the whole 'youre only doing that because of your favorite band thing' also, but ignore it.
It's what you believe in, and it's no one elses business.
That's my opinion at least.

What if you got a purtiy necklace?
Thats something they don't have and maybe people would think you got because of them if it was a necklace?

i think if you want to do it for yourself and God and your family which you obviously do then go for it.
i'm planning on getting one too, and in no way because JB has one because when I'm older things will be different.
I wanna do it because it's having respect for myself and 'true love waits'.
so go for it, ignore other peoples comments.
