The notorious rings

Ummm I don't mean to sound sceptical but I know plenty of people who have worn purity rings and then taken them off during a serious relationship. I'm not saying the JoBros will do that but what does everyone else think? I personally think those rings will come off. I've never been religious and I defiantly don't have a purity ring so I don't know exactly the feelings behind those rings and remaining "pure" but boys will be boys.

Re: The notorious rings

even if they didnt have the rings it wouldnt matter. there are actually some guys out there where sex isnt their main priority in life. just because they have the rings dont mean that once they come off thats whats on their mind. the rings dont define them.

Re: The notorious rings

i agree with nicole because they are some of the very few guys out there that just dont want to hook-up with a girl....like one of my exs dumped me because i wouldnt have sex with him...i wasnt ready and we only been going out like two weeks and he dumped me after i said no....i am proud of them for standing by their beliefs just like me (i have had a purity ring since i was 13 and now i am 19)

Re: The notorious rings

I know the rings don't define their entire personalities but they are wearing the rings out of religious reasons which in most peoples cases does define them. I was just wondering if the guys feel that once the rings are removed, if the rings are removed before marriage, than they won't be closer to God in their opinion. And by saying the rings come off I obviously don't mean that in the literal sense, it could be another Brittany Spears situation where she claimed she was a virgin out of religious convictions in order to fit a mold that she and her managers felt was what her "audience" would react best to. Just like the Jonas Brothers, though I personally believe they are very religious and nice fellas and I don't think they'll ever shave their heads out of fear of drug testing. But have any of the other fans questioned what the Jonas Brothers are? Are they really these type of guys or are they the concoction of their parents' religious backround and the tyrant company known as Disney? Have the guys ever thought to look beyond their good ol' boys with a rocker twist attitude and form something that their younger core audience can look at as a representation of what is to come of America and the world in the aspect moving forward into more liberal and open views of religion and culture? We have all seen this type of "just an average girl/boy with no problems but those within the bounds of Disney" before. Look where that has led us. Jamie Lynn is pregnant, Lindsay is a rehab alumni, Brittany doesn't know what's going on half the time, Shia is being arrested over and over and recently poor Miley has had photos crop up everywhere. Maybe all we need are a few teens to start acting like teens in public and stop putting up these conservative walls of who they think pre-teens and teens are so everyone stops having to send out their talking heads everytime a tween star messes up.

no the rings do not define them. they dont wear their rings all the time. kevin takes his off sometimes to play the guitar at times. and its not a definition of who they are. its just a reminder. it doesnt mean "oh im gonna take if off today and not be close with god today....i'll do that tomorrow", its just a reminder of their promise.

um i have no clue really what you just said. it was like rambling. but um, why compare JB to every body out there. i have never understood that. why should everyone be compared to people who are obviously so not alike. people compare miley and demi all the time. miley is not demi so why compare them. why would u compare Jb to britney and jamie lynn they are no way alike.

and about the whole teens act like teens. how are teens suppose to act. i thought JB were acting like themselves. just because they were brought up right to treat people with respect and not go off acting up doesnt mean their not acting like teens. joe and nick are still teens, kevin is a adult. they can act anyway they want.

their rings isnt even a situation. thats their business and people should leave it alone. they put their whole lives out in the open they can atleast have that little bit of provacy in their lives.  it shouldnt matter their views on life. (great...i dont even know wat i said now lol)

Re: The notorious rings
kill me but i think mainly everything you are saying is wrong. the jonas brothers will not help make it seem right to do wrong. they believe in staying pure untill marriage and so they will. they wear them because its a personal conviction, not so the public can look at it. i am insulted and offended that you would doubt them for a moment. i personally think we should not be discussing things like this in their personal lives. if they slip up, oh well, but im sure they will keep themselves pure not because of their parents or their management, but because they made a vow to God, and that is more serious than you realize. they wont just decide to be done with it and one day and take it off because that vow they made is still there. i am a christian and i wear a purity ring, i have since i was 13, i wear it because i decided to live pure, not only in the area of sex, and i vowed to God that i would keep it. i know what its like, and i know the pressure on them is way more than i could imagine, but they still made that decision, and im sure they will do their best to keep it no matter what. there is nothing wrong with being different than the people around you. their faith is what keeps them strong and i believe thats what has been, and will be holding them up through all this.

Re: The notorious rings

"Are they really these type of guys or are they the concoction of their parents' religious backround and the tyrant company known as Disney?"

that actually could be a valid question. i'm not the kind to rule out stuff just because "they're the Jonas Brothers." But I will say that they pretty much defined themselves even before getting into the Disney flow. I mean just look at nick's solo album. i mean, i graduated from a christian high school, and i'll be the first to say some of those guys ha umm didn't exactly go the straight-and-narrow. i think they are doing they're best and have the best of intentions - by no means do i expect perfection.

Have the guys ever thought to look beyond their good ol' boys with a rocker twist attitude and form something that their younger core audience can look at as a representation of what is to come of America and the world in the aspect moving forward into more liberal and open views of religion and culture?

i'm not really sure what you meant, but i think they're religious views are pretty set. i'm sure most of their viewpoints come from the bible and you can't really change that.

Maybe all we need are a few teens to start acting like teens in public and stop putting up these conservative walls of who they think pre-teens and teens are so everyone stops having to send out their talking heads everytime a tween star messes up.

sooo more teens should start "messing" up to make it more ok for tween stars?

im not attacking you or anything, just conversation. : ]

I don't think she was saying that teens should mess up. I think she meant that people should be more accepting of teens who do mess up and that teen stars shouldn't pretend to be the best person on the world. although I do disagree with her.

Re: The notorious rings

pearl i honestly dont think you were right to compare them to all the other teen stars that have messed up recently because they were raised different from them just like you were probably raised different from me...i just want you to remember that they made this promise before they were really famous and that they dont go around showing them off like britney spears

i dont want to start anything but this was just my opinion and i know you have different opinions from me but i just wanted to tell you what i thought
