Hi,
I didn't know Summerfest was like that with all that drinking. Why is the Jonas Brothers have a concert there. if 80% or more of their fans are children. I will have to pass this concert up. Since I don't want my 9 year old in that environment. Hope the Jonas Brothers will come back to Chicago so she can see them. Thanks again for telling me the information I needed to know.

It will work different than the way it worked when I went to Rosemont for JB tickets. I'm not sure how many tickets/wristbands they are giving out, but you choose a random number from a bucket, or something along those lines. I'm not exactly sure since I've never done this at the Marcus Amphitheater.

Summerfest does attract a lot of big name acts. The Jonas Brothers are performing on a stage that isn't exactly ON the Summerfest grounds...it's a little ways away from where everyone and everything else is. Like I said, I've never been there so this is just what I've heard.
You DO have to go through the Summerfest grounds to get to the stage, though, so that could cause some potential problems.
I feel bad that you don't want to take your daughter now -- but again, I felt that you needed to know since she is so young. I really hope they come back to Chicago so you can take her again. =)

It is honestly not THAT bad! Im sure you can still take your daughter, I'm sure she wasn't going alone, right? So it'll be fine. You DON'T HAVE TO cut through the park to get to the theatre there is a gate right next to it you can enter at. If you're going with her it will be fine. Just enter from that gate. Any of those "Drunks" will most likely not want to be anywhere near the jonas brothers. So if you were going to take her, please still do. Don't let her miss out I promise it'll be fine. I spend ALOT of time at summerfest and it isn't always as bad as everyone says. It depends on a lot of different things. |

i really wish i could have replied ealier, because i don't know if you'll be back on to check this thread, but here's what i know:
-- i've been to Summerfest before. i went with my aunt, my little brother and my two younger cousins - one of them being nine, and my brother, ten. It is not all drunks. Or at least to any of the extent that some people are saying. i'm from Wisconsin and i, personally, think that Summerfest is safer than State Fair - from my experiences, at least.
-- Last year i've seen Shania Twain, Brooks and Dunn with Sugarland and The Fray on the stage that the Jonas Brothers are performing at. In the seats that i've gotten [[not floor, but not grass/bleachers either]] there weren't that many drunks. Plus, this is a Jonas Brothers concert, unless the people are completely clueless as to who the Jonas Brothers are, i really don't think that a group of old men with bottles of beer are going to be at the concert. The Brooks and Dunn with Sugarland concert was pushing the drinking levels but it still was not that bad. And both those acts attracts an older crowd of people, not the younger crowd that the Jonas Brothers attract. i'm saying that the Jonas Brothers' fans are only 5 and older, i mean, Stacy said she was 21? But that's still not quite 40+ like at the Brooks and Dunn with Sugarland concert.
-- As for walking around Summerfest, again, not that bad. Last year i spent the whole day there, and scarcly saw anyone who was drunk enough to be harmful to the crowd. [[Then again, we didn't go by too many beer tents either, but they are avoidable]]. The worst i saw were some teenagers making rude comments at the lake front.
These are my observations and opinions, believe them or don't, that's up to you. But this is what i've noticed.

Like I said, I've never been to Summerfest before, this is just what I've heard. But, I also did say too, that I've heard it from multiple people. Whether it's true or not, I guess we won't know until we get there. But I didn't want her to take her daughter and have a horrible experience. I was telling her what I had heard so she could make the decision on her own.
I didn't mean to sound like I knew everything about Summerfest, because obviously I don't, I was just relaying information.

Just because you want a certain section doesn't mean you're going to get it.
I've never called Ticketmaster before either, but I know if you go to a Ticketmaster outlet you just tell them what concert you want tickets for...that means: artist, date of concert, and venue.
They'll give you the best seats available.
