Finally...
CHAPTER 15:
I am in the middle of a desert. The heat is almost unbearable. There is nothing around me, nothing but endless miles of hot, burning sand. The heat is visible, rising from the ground in waves.
Suddenly, it is as if the sky opens, and I see two figures falling to the hard earth with a thud. I scramble to my feet and trudge across the ground. Each step buries my ankles in sand, so it is tough going. Eventually, I see that it is my girlfriend, Mona, and the girl that often visits me in…I don’t really know where. But I see that they are fighting, and where I know her from no longer matters. I have to stop them.
“Sh.it! Sh.it! Sh.it!” Everyone in the room turned to see Pari appear in the center of the room. “I need help. Kevin’s going to try to stop us.” She grabbed the hands of the two nearest to her…Nick and Joe, and instantly, the three of them vanished.
“I hope she knows what she’s doing.”
“Why did they disappear? It didn’t happen before.” Zee was puzzled.
“Well, I think for the battle it has to happen that way. In order to completely do away with Mona, she has to die wholly in one universe…in this case, the dream universe. As for dragging Joe and Nick into it, like I said before…I hope she knows what she’s doing.” Zee nodded in agreement, and both girls turned their attention back to Kevin’s sleeping form.
Without warning, something drops on me…something extremely heavy…and I collapse under the weight. I struggle to extract myself, but then I realize that it was not a something that fell on me…a someone…two someones…two someones who just happen to be my brothers. Great.
“Kevin!” I hear my name as soon as we manage to untangle ourselves from each other. It’s Joe, and he’s shouting at me.
*Joe! Stop yelling! Think the words, and I can hear it.* Nick nods in my direction.
*Kevin, you CAN’T stop this battle. Pari HAS to destroy Mona.* Pari must be the other girl…she looks so famili—wait…did he say DESTROY???
*No! I love her!* I lunge forward, and I am quickly overtaken. Not by my brothers…but by a vampire and a wolf.
*Kevin!* No! I WILL NOT LET HER DIE!!!!! I thrash about against my captors, and manage to strike the vampire in the face. Instantly, I find myself being thrown down and finally pinned when the wolf sits on my chest and the vampire sits on my legs.
*MONA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!* It is the only sort of help I can offer her. Perhaps if she knows I am still supporting her, she can summon up the strength to win. However, I quickly regret my shouting, as soon after, a giant bird is flying overhead. I must have given away my position to the enemy. Mere seconds later, I am no longer being pinned, but my body seems to be literally dissolving into the ground…the bird is draining me of my life!!!
