Chapter 17...wooohoooo. But I am so sad. This fic is nearing its close...which means my fantasy trilogy is almost over. *TEARS*
Kevin woke up with a pounding headache. He blinked a few times, but still, his head proceeded to imitate a bass drum. He looked around, and decided he wouldn’t sit up, even if he could have. The surroundings were completely new to him, and yet, they eerily reminded him of something.
“Oh, good. He’s awake.” He knew that voice. Nisha. That didn’t exactly explain to him what was going on, but at least he wasn’t alone. He heard several people enter the room. Finally, he forced himself to sit up. There, in front of him were his brothers, Nisha, Zee, and a girl he couldn’t place, and yet, he felt like he knew her.
“How do you feel?” Joe asked, sitting on the edge of the bed Kevin only now realized he was in.
“I hurt.” He paused and held a hand to his head, trying to ease the pain he felt. “What the hell happened?”
“You don’t remember?” Nick asked, sounding very concerned.
“All I remember is Mona and…” His eyes drifted to Nisha. “You BIT ME!!!”
“I had to, Kevin.” Nisha said quietly. “You would have died if I hadn’t.” She paused. “Actually, you would have died if Pari hadn’t--.” Kevin instinctively looked at the girl sitting next to Zee.
“Pari. You’re the girl from my dreams.” She blushed and nodded. “But what happened with Mona??? Is she ok?”
“Kevin, Mona was that bird creature, the one that tried to kill you.” Zee said. Kevin’s jaw dropped slightly. Suddenly, the memories came rushing back to him…the dreams of Pari, and then the final one with Mona…and he knew.
“Um, could you give us a few minutes?” Pari asked. Everyone nodded and filed out of the room. “Kevin, I’m sorry.”
“Why? All you did was try to save me.”
“I know. But…I feel like…like I took too personal a liberty when I kissed you. Especially when I knew you had a girlfriend.”
“I…I kissed you. I wanted that kiss. If anyone is at fault, it was me.” Kevin held his head in his hands. “I felt so bad. So bad because I wanted to kiss you and I felt like I had cheated on Mo-mo-on her, when she’s the one who was trying to kill me.” He groaned. “God, I am so STUPID!!! Everyone tried to warn me about her. Tried to tell me she was trying to kill me. And, you could have died trying to save me.” He looked up and she saw tear tracks marking down his cheeks. “I know you’ve done a lot for me, but could you just…”
“Yeah, no problem.” Pari nodded and left Kevin to think.
