i took all this time away from the nice weather to put up a new chapter for you all. soooo youd better like it. haha :)

chapter 2

Abby’s expression quickly became confused as she looked at the boy leaning back in his chair, sitting on the other side of the table in front of her. Her eyes locked with his, and she watched as his lips curled up into a small smile, before he quickly stood up and walked around the table, taking the tray of drinks from her hand and the bag of Red Bulls from the other.

“I’m Nick,” he said quickly as he set the tray of drinks down on the table, before extending his hand back towards Abby. “Nick Jonas.”

“I...thought I recognized you,” Abby replied slowly as she shook Nick’s hand slowly. “I’m Abigail. Head of advertisement for...”

“Our new album,” Nick finished for her as he let go of her hand.

“You two have met?” A man who had been sitting beside Nick interrupted as he stood up as well.

“Um, well,” Abby began, not really sure what to say to the man as he approached.

“She was struggling with all those drinks back at the gas station, Dad,” Nick said. “So I offered to help her.”

“And he paid for all the Red Bulls,” Abby finished, turning towards the man and extending her hand.

“Well, at least my boy is learning to be a gentleman,” the man said as he shook Abby’s hand. “I’m Paul Jonas, and these are my sons. I’m the manager of their band, which I assume you’ve heard of--”

“Who hasn’t?” Sarah interrupted quickly as she ran up beside Abby, extending her hand quickly in the direction of Paul, causing him to drop Abby’s hand quickly. “I’m Sarah Peters, and I’m going to be in charge of all of the financial aspects of this project. Abby here is in charge of most of the advertising. And I’m assuming you’ve already spoken with Matt and Greg?” She nodded towards the two men left sitting at the table.

“Yes, we have,” Paul said as he stepped away from Abby and Sarah back towards the table. Abby took a moment to look around the room, and note that it looked strangely empty. But just as she realized who was missing, Sarah began to speak again.

“Um, just a quick question before we get this meeting underway,” Sarah began as she walked picked up her coffee from the table. “If we are supposed to be discussing an album with the Jonas Brothers, then why is only one of them here?”

“Kevin needed to find a bathroom,” Nick answered as he picked up the green tea frappuccino from the table and brought the straw up to his mouth. “And Joe wanted to find a vending machine.”

“Nick, you bought donuts at the gas station,” his father said as he turned to him. “That wasn’t enough food?”

“Joe devoured those, and he said he was still hungry,” Nick said with a shrug before taking a long sip from his drink. His father looked at him for a moment, before sighing and picking up one of the coffees and heading back to his seat at the table.  Abby watched Nick and Sarah do the same, and just as she went to pick up her drink, the door to the room opened.

“Joe, I told you not to spend my money,” a voice came from behind her, and she turned around to see the final two-thirds of the Jonas Brothers walking into the room, the door slamming behind them. She’d seen all three of the brothers on covers of magazines, on the television, and on CDs before, but she’d never met them in person. She continued to watch them as they both turned to look at the crowd of people waiting for them in the room.

“Well finally, looks like everyone decided to show up,” the boy she recognized as Joe snapped, walking over to the seat on Nick’s other side and setting down several bags of potato chips and cookies on the table. “And they got my drinks?”

“Joseph, attitude,” his father said in a warning tone, furrowing his eyebrows as he looked at his middle son.

“Dad, it’s a lost cause,” Abby heard a whisper from behind her, and she turned around to see the eldest Jonas standing there, a cheerful smile on his face. “Hi, I’m Kevin,” he said, extending his hand towards her. She returned his warm smile as she shook it.

“I’m Abigail, head of advertising for your new record,” she said. “It’s nice to meet you.”

“It’s nice to meet you too,” Kevin said. “And I apologize for Joe’s rudeness.” He leaned in towards Abby’s ear as he reached by her to pick up his drink. “Don’t take anything he says personally.” Abby nodded uncertainly as Kevin picked up his drink and walked over to the final seat, which was in between the seat reserved for Abby and Joe’s. Abby followed Kevin to her own seat, and sat down in it as she set her drink down on the table in front of her.

“So, we’re here to discuss this new album that you boys have been working on, is that correct?” Matt asked as he opened up the notebook in front of him. Abby picked up the pen sitting on the table in front of her as she took a sip of her drink.

“Yes sir,” Kevin answered quickly. “We’ve been in the process of writing our songs, and we’re about ready to start recording. We have seven songs written, and we’re aiming for 12 or 13 for this album.”

“It sounds like you’re well underway, then,” Matt said, clapping his hands together. “So do you have any other plans you’d like to discuss with us? We brought in all of our advisors to discuss the advertisement and promotion of your album, as well as the logistics about--”

“Nick, pass the Red Bulls,” Joe suddenly interrupted as he reached out for a bag of potato chips, ripping the bag open and shoving his hand in. Nick shook his head disapprovingly at his brother, before reaching into the bag in front of him.

“Joe, don’t interrupt next time,” Kevin said as Nick began to pull the drinks out of the bag. He set the single sugar-free one down in front of him, before passing the next five cans down. Joe handed one to Kevin, before lining the other four up in front of him, next to the empty frappuccino container.

“Joseph Adam Jonas,” his father began to scold as he opened the first can, tipping it back and taking a swig. “You do not need four Red Bulls.”

“Dad, we flew in from Europe last night, and I’m exhausted,” Joe replied as he wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. “If you want me to stay awake during this meeting thing, which I still think is completely pointless, then I’m going to need all the sugar I can get.” Joe tipped the can back again and took another big sip.

Note to self, Joe’s an ass, even to his parents, Abby thought to herself as she watched Nick and Kevin look down at the table, as if they were embarrassed by the way their brother was acting. She watched as their father stared at the middle Jonas, as if he was unsure what to say at this point.

“Anyways,” Nick finally said, breaking the awkward silence that had fallen over everyone and bringing the attention back to the matter at hand, “We’re aiming for a release date sometime in mid June, just before we kick off our tour here in the States...”

Abby started to zone out as Nick began to ramble off the things that the band had already agreed upon about the album. Sarah was diligently taking notes next to her, so she figured she’d just be able to ask her for a synopsis of the meeting later. Instead of focusing on listening, she decided to focus on what would help her most with advertising the band.

She’d seen the three boys all over, and she knew how famous they were. She knew that she didn’t need to put in as much work as she would normally have to in order to promote them, because these boys were pretty much capable of promoting themselves. With their good looks and, for the most part, positive attitudes, she figured that with some interviews, a few TV appearances, and maybe attendance at a few key events, the album wouldn’t need much more to sell itself. They had a following of almost every pre-teen girl in America, along with a majority of the young teenagers. Promoting this album would be a piece of cake.

She looked back towards Nick, who was speaking. He seemed extremely confident and at ease with himself. He was sitting up straight, with his arms resting upon the table, a pen in his right hand. He was wearing a button-up shirt and a tie, and for a boy of only 16, he looked extremely professional. He had a smile on his face, and Abby could tell he was really committed and excited about what he was discussing.

Her attention then turned towards Kevin, who was sitting on Joe’s other side, when he began to speak. If she wasn’t going to be listening, she at least needed to pretend to be paying attention. He too wore a smile upon his face, and Abby couldn’t help but think he was absolutely gorgeous. She figured that they were about the same age, and once again, she was taken aback by how professionally he presented himself. He too sat up straight, and was just as confident as Nick appeared to be.

She then let her attention drift away from Kevin and towards the third brother, sitting in between Kevin and Nick. He was leaning back in his chair, his feet stretched out in front of him. He was now on his second can of Red Bull, and he was loudly eating potato chips from one of the bags he had purchased from the vending machine. She watched as he tossed the empty bag in front of him onto the table, his head turned slightly towards his brother. He then ran a hand through his slightly curled hair, pushing it away from his face. She felt her stomach twist, and she blinked a few times to try and refocus. If she had thought Kevin was gorgeous, then at that point, she had no words to describe what she was thinking of Joe. But just then, his head turned, breaking his gaze at his brother, and he was looking straight at Abby.

“Abigail, did you catch that?”

Abby shook her head, quickly breaking her brief eye contact with Joe, and looked over at Matt, who had just spoken to her. And this is why I need to pay attention, she thought to herself as she looked down at her blank sheet of paper, then quickly glanced over to Sarah’s, looking for some sort of help as to what they were talking about. She felt every eye in the room focused on her.

“Of course,” Abby said smoothly, trying to seem like she knew what was going on. “And I think it’s a great idea.”

“It was a question, Abby,” Sarah whispered from beside her, and Abby immediately felt her cheeks burn red from embarrassment.

“Oh, I’m sorry,” Abby said quickly, trying to come up with an excuse on the spot for her screw up, as she still felt all the eyes in the room on her. “I was still processing what you were saying before, about the--”

“It’s okay, really,” Joe said, a smirk on his face, and Abby quickly looked back at him. “It’s obvious that she was too focused on the fact that I’m sitting right across from her to pay attention.”

“Joe, stop being an ass,” Kevin said, shaking his head. Joe let out a laugh and rolled his eyes.

“You’re just jealous she wasn’t staring at you,” Joe shot back, before glancing back towards Abby. “But really, you might want to try for someone who’s a little more in your league.”

“Joseph,” his father began, his tone serious.

“It’s okay,” Abby said quickly, trying to avoid a brawl breaking out right in the middle of the meeting. “How about we just call it a day, and you guys can come back later this week to discuss the promotional plans you have?”

“That sounds wonderful,” Nick said, as everyone around the table began to stand up. “And maybe we can find some way to leave Joe at home,” he added under his breath.

“We’ll call you,” Paul said, turning to Matt and Greg. “We were thinking early next week...” Abby turned away from the three of them, back to Sarah, who was collecting her things. She then watched as Kevin began to collect the empty cups and cans, looking around for a garbage can to throw them in.

“Kevin, I can take care of that,” Abby said as she picked up the remaining cups and walked over to him.

“No, it’s the least I can do,” Kevin said with a smile, before lowering his voice a bit, “after the way my brother was acting just then.”

“Don’t worry about it,” Abby said quickly. “Like you said, I didn’t take it personally.”

“Good,” Kevin said as the two walked over to the trash can across the room. “He just...he just got out of a rough relationship, and he’s been in a crappy mood all week. We’re lucky him and Nick haven’t killed each other yet.”

“Well, please try to keep that from happening,” Abby said, “because it might make my job a hell of a lot harder to promote this upcoming album with 1/3 of the Jonas Brothers dead at the hands of another one.” Kevin laughed along with Abby as she said this, and the two of them followed the rest of the group out of the room and back into the hallway.

“So, we’re planning another meeting next week then?” Kevin asked Abby, who nodded. “I have some good ideas of my own for this promotional thing, and I was thinking maybe we could...discuss them beforehand?”

“Sure, that works for me,” Abby said with a smile. “You can, um, call the office if you want.” She reached into her back pocket and pulled out a spare business card. “My direct line is on there, so...”

“I’ll give you a call, then,” Kevin said with a grin. “It was nice meeting you.” He gave her one last smile, before following his brothers out the front door of the office, leaving Abby and Sarah standing together in the doorway.

“So, Joe’s an ass, huh?” Sarah finally said, glancing over at Abby.

“You could say that again,” Abby said, as she let her gaze drift from Kevin to Joe, a small smile still on her face, as she watched them get into the car and drive away.
