Chapter Dedication: Nonsense.

Chapter Two
Take the blame off your back
It's a burden you don't own
Lay your head in my arms & I will be your home
You can't carry this alone
ELLIE
I stepped out of the bathroom. "Is she okay?" Nick asked. I nodded, hardly acknowledging him. Quickly, I hurried downstairs. Joe heard me coming and met me at the bottom.
"Hey, hun," he said, wrapping his arms around my waist and pulling me into him. I made an attempt to step away from him, but failed. "Where are you going?"
"Oh, uhm, I just have to pick up something from the drugstore. Mind if I borrow your car...and cash?" He looked at me strangely and nodded. I waited impatiently for him to hand me his car keys. As soon as he pulled out his wallet, I snatched it out of his hands and hurried out the door.
Once I reached the drugstore, I grabbed a basket, found the aisle with pregnancy tests, and grabbed one of each.
The cashier gave me an odd look and put about 24 tests in a bag. I rushed back to the Jonas' house. Joe was sitting on the stairs, waiting for me. "Ellie, what's going on?" he asked. Without a word, I tossed him his wallet and entered the kitchen, grabbing five water bottles and stuffing them into the grocery bag. Just as I was leaving the kitchen, Joe blocked the doorway. "What's wrong, babe?" I wasn't sure why, but ever since we came back to America, Joe had been calling me all these names. Hun, baby, sweetheart, love, babe...I could go on and on.
"Nothing is wrong. Why would you say that?" He smiled slyly.
"Maybe it's because you've hardly taken the time to kiss me today." I placed a quick kiss on his lips.
"There. Can I go now?" He frowned.
"Ellie, you have to take the time to really kiss me. Just one. Then you can go do whatever it is you need to do with all those pregnancy tests." My eyes widened. He stared at my blankly for a moment before realizing what he just said. He stared at the bag in my hands. "Ohmigod...Ellie, you're not - ? There's no way...unless...How could you do this to me?!" he shouted.
"Shh! Please, Joe, lower your voice!" I pleaded. "I'm not, no. Stop assuming things."
"Is it Steenie?" I bit my lip.
"No. It's...Aimee." His jaw dropped. While he was in shock, I pushed him out of my way and ran upstairs. She'll forgive me later, I kept repeating in my head. I tapped on the bathroom door lightly. "Steenie? It's Ellie, you can open the door." She did, and I tossed in the grocery bag. "Get to work." I shut the door and turned around, only to find Joe leaning against the wall with his arms crossed.
"You're not getting away that easily," he said. My heart was racing, and I prayed that he would just forget about this whole 'pregnancy test' thing. He took my hand and led me into his room. "Time to make up for all those missed kisses."
