Chapter 1
You say you know
what you want to do
with the rest of your life
you say you've got me
in your plans, but you've got to
....... justify
Prove it! What've you got
to show for it?
Justify!
Because I don't believe
a word you say.
Just justify
What if I want to
sort my own life out first?
What if I want to
live my own life?!
Prove it! What've you got
to show for it?
Justify!
Because I don't believe
a word you say.
Just justify
If your plans include me,
than why can't I see
what those plans might be?
Prove it! What've you got
to show for it?
Justify!
Because I don't believe
a word you say.
Just justify
I've got to know!
Tell me now,
what have you got to show?
Was it make believe?
Tell me!
//Prove it! What've you got
to show for it?
Justify!
Because I don't believe
a word you say.
Just justify//
Jessie put down her guitar as she finished singing the song she had written herself. The words had just come to her, while the rythym had been stuck in her head for weeks. Writing songs gave her a certain feel, almost a magical one. She felt as though she could fly when she had written a good enough song. She heard the doorbell ring. "Coming!" she yelled and ran down the stairs. She opened the door. Chris stood there. "Hey," he said. Jessie groaned in her head. Why did he come? "Hi," she said, plastering a fake smile on her face. "Why are you here?" she asked rudely. "Ouch," Chris said clutching his chest. She rolled her eyes. "I was wondering if you wanted to go out with me tonight?" he asked, his eyes hopeful. "I can't. I'm busy," Jessie said simply. He looked disappointed. "Okay, maybe some other time, then," he said, and he left. She stood smiling until she lost sight of him. She slammed the door shut. "Don't count on it."
Jessie wasn't lying. She really was busy that night. She had entered a singing and dancing contest and was anxious for the final round that would take place that night. She had been taking dance since she was 5. She took ballet, jazz, hip-hop, and tap. The judges had marveled at her talent, as well as her amazing song writing ability. Her parents couldn't take her, of course. They were on yet another business trip. It seemed like there was another excuse to be away from her every week. Her parents had never liked her. That was why she hadn't told them she had entered the contest. There were three other contestants that she would be battling out against, and she couldn't wait. The house phone rang. "Hello?" said a familiar, yet unknown voice. "Hello, who is this?" she asked. "The rotting cheese company," another voice said. "I'm dead serious. I know your number. Tell me who you are or I'll call the cops," Jessie said. There was silence at the other end. "The Jonas Brothers," three voices said. For a second Jessie's heart sank. The feeling immediately went away as she realized it was a prank call. "I'm calling the cops," she said, beginning to hang up. "Wait!" a voice said on the other line. "Are you a fan?" the same voice asked. "Of who?" Jessie asked. "The Jonas Brothers," the voice answered. "Yeah," Jessie said. She heard muttering on the other line. "If you don't call the cops, we'll send you two tickets to an event at which we- uh- the Jonas Brothers will be performing," the voice finally said. "I'm sorry, I'm busy tonight," Jessie responded, getting impatient. "Doing what?" another voice asked. "A singing and dancing competition," Jessie responded automatically. Why did i tell them? "Where?" the first voice asked. "Are you stalkers?" Jessie questioned. "Where?" they repeated. "34th avenue, New York." She heard gasps. "You're in the Sing and Dance your Heart out competition?" three voices asked at the same time. "Yeah," Jessie responded. "What's your name?" one of the voices asked. "Jessie," she replied. "BYE!" a little boy yelled and they hung up. That was really weird. Maybe they are stalkers.
Hope it was a good first chapter! Enjoy and comment!
