Chapter 1
Picking up her keys Amanda headed out the front door of her house and towards her car, as she looked down at her cell phone one last time she growled in frustration to see that it was already 7:30 am and she had to be in class at 8:00 am at a school that was; on a good day, a 45 minute drive. She skillfully juggled her backpack, breakfast and cd collection in one hand as she used the other hand to unlock and open the car door. Shuffling inside she threw her backpack to the passenger seat and quickly closed the door and turned on her car.
As she pulled out of her drive way she clicked her radio from cd to radio and was instantly bombarded by the morning voices of kiis fm. For most of the ride she quitely rocked out to the constant flow of music playing through her radio but when the hosts of the show started to talk constantly Amanda got irritated and started to get ready to switch to the cd once again. But before she came to a stop sign so she could safely change the system over something caught her attention.
"That’s Right Folks. Four tickets yes you hear me Four tickets to the up and coming Jonas Brothers concert right here in San Diego, California."
Amanda's ears perked up, she liked the Jonas Brothers of course; she had listened to their music and it was good, a little to Pop-y for her taste but still good, but what made her think of the Jonas Brothers was actually her little sister; Melody. Melody was a huge fan of the Jonas brothers, she had posters in her room a shirt that said I LOVE THE JONAS BROTHERS written across in every color on the planet and she constantly played their songs over and over again, blasting it throughout their house.
As Amanda continued to listen she started to get excited. If only i could win those tickets It would be the perfect gift for Melody's 15th Birthday Amanda though aloud.
"All you have to do to win these four tickets and backstage meet and greet's with the Jonas brothers is name the group who sings this next song. Here's a hint for all you major Jonas Brothers Fans. In one of the Jonas Brothers Songs they mention this musical group."
Then suddenly the song started to play and Amanda started to freak as she heard the first few words of the song.
Cigars in the summertime
Under the sky by the light
I can feel you read my mind
I can see it in your eyes
Amanda quickly made an illegal turn into a Albertsons parking lot across the street and parked, digging through her backpack looking for her phone. When she finally found it she listened again to the radio.
Singin along to feelin alright
And makin it by in the pink moonlight
It's always Penny and me tonight
Cuz Penny and me like to roll the windows down
Turn the radio up, push the pedal to the ground
And Penny and me like to gaze at starry skies
Close our eyes, pretend to fly
I said oh, oh
Close our eyes, pretend to fly
It's always Penny and me tonight
As the song finished Amanda once again heard the voice of the speaker talke once again.
"So if you know the name of the musical group that sings that song call now..."
Amanda didn't hear whatever was next, she was to busy dialing the phone, she knew the number by heart. She had been listing to Kiis Fm everyday for years. Putting the phone up to her ear she listened to it ring, tapping her foot as she waited which made her engine reave up each time her foot went down.
As if by a miracle all of a sudden Amanda heard a women’s voice on the other end of the line.
“Kiis Fm Radio Station”
“Um hi, i am calling to answer the question for the Jonas Brothers tickets..”
“Okay one second.”
The women fiddled with something then started to talk again.
“Okay what is the name of the musical group that just played on the radio at 7:45 am”
“ The Artist is Hanson and the song name is Penny and Me.” Amanda almost spoke so fast that she had a hard time understanding herself but obviously the lady on the other side of the line did because she suddenly got really perky.
“Congratulations! You are the first caller to get the answer correct!”
“Are you serious” Amanda Stammered
“Yes Mam, wait one minute while we transfer you to on Air”
Amanda was put into a daze, she had never one anything in her life before and she couldn’t believe she just won four tickets each easily being worth $100. But she was soon pulled out of her stupor by a familiar male voice.
“Well it seems we have a winner! Who is this I am speaking to?”
“uh... Amanda.” Amanda barely got the words out of her mouth.
“Okay Amanda where are you from?”
“Riverside”
“Okay, Amanda from Riverside what is the answer for the four Jonas Brothers Tickets?”
“Well, the artist is Hanson and the Songs name is Penny and Me.”
“Very good! Congratulations! Now for four free Jonas Brothers T-shirts what is the name of the song that the Jonas Brothers mention Hanson.”
“Um....um..." Suddenly Amanda could hear the song in her head.
You got moves, I've got shoes, let's go dancing
Pop and lock, battle dance against Hanson
If we lose, all the girls, they'll be laughing
Where would we be, if we couldn't dream?
And I know
We get a little crazy
And I know
We get a little loud
And I know
We're never gonna fake it
We are wild
We are free
We are more than you think
So call us freaks
But that's just the way we roll
“That’s the way we Roll!”
“Correct! Congrats! Again you are going to see the Jonas Brothers this Saturday in San Diego and you will be receiving four tickets and backstage passes plus the shirts you just earned and lets through in there one free copy of the Jonas Brothers in concert DVD!”
“Thanks so much! My little sister is going to love you forever!”
Next thing Amanda heard was the female voice once again.
“Okay miss, i just need to get a few pieces of information from you. First what is your address.”
After Amanda answered questions about everything from her address to her shirt size she finally hung up her phone and took a deep breath. Then out of no where she screamed “I cant believe this!” Once she had let out all of her anxiety, excitement and stress she looked down at the clock and it read 8:45. She was late to class.
“Shoot” she bellowed as she turned her car back on and raced towards school with a smile plastered across her face.
