Sunshine and Golden Belles
She was the type of girl who never said a harsh word, except in a joking tone, and had too many friends to count. She was the type of girl who looked stunning in anything, her hair a golden color that shined in the sun and her eyes changing with her moods. She was the girl next door the type that every boy would fall for, and a lot of boys did just that. But there was one boy she wanted to see her, just to notice her and he was the one who never did.
“Leanne I don’t know why I keep telling you this but give it up he doesn’t see you,” her best friend, Ashley, said rolling her deep green eyes.
“I know Ash but he’s so amazing,” Leanne sighs looking out the window at the boy next door.
He had stunning brown curls falling over his gorgeous brown eyes, his muscles toned and tan showing from under his tank-top and his legs, those gorgeously manly legs were love. His eyes drifted up to her window and Leanne squeals before hiding behind the trim. Ashley laughs, rolling her eyes and chucks a pillow at Leanne’s head causing the other girl to smack into the wall. Leanne sends Ashley a dirty look and looks back out the window at the boy in question. But he’s not there anymore so she sighs and shuts the shade.
“I don’t get what you see in him,” Ashley mutters.
“I don’t get what you see in Kevin we’re even,” Leanne says sticking her tongue out.
“That’s cold,” Ashley tells her as she stands leaving Leanne alone in her room.
It’s kind of funny Ashley was dating Kevin, also known as Mr. Perfect’s older brother, and even after almost two years Leanne didn’t understand their relationship. It was actually quite funny Ashley more often than not brought Leanne with her when they went to hang with Kevin and his family but he still never noticed her. Leanne’s eyes flew to her phone as it started to play a very familiar tone. She saw the number but didn’t know who it belonged to her eyes blue eyes clouding over as she tried to figure it out.
Hey. I miss hanging out with you.
She frowns trying to figure out who that could be. She was hanging with her friends daily, and hadn’t forgotten any lately so she did the only thing she could do.
Hey. If that’s true why don’t you come over?
It didn’t take long for the short response to come in and she still hadn’t a clue who was on the other end of the conversation.
Working. Talk to me though.
Leanne’s eyes flash to green as she thinks of all the friends she knows who are working, or work period. Ashley just left, Stephani dropped her phone in the toilet, Michael was off, and Dan got his phone taken away from him. That was everyone all her other friends were in college and didn’t have time to work. She was the baby of the group really at 16 while everyone else was at least 18. And she really didn’t know what to say to this person.
About what?
This time the response causes her to think a little bit harder. She wanted to answer it with words and meanings wanted to let them know exactly how she had cherished their friendship but how could she when she didn’t even know who she was talking to.
You. Tell me about your life.
Her eyes clouded a mixture of blue and green and she fumbled with the iPhone that she had got for Christmas a few months ago. But not knowing what to say tripped her up a bit.
Um. I think everyone should have a pet mood unicorn. Pirates would kick Ninja butt and Super Secret Spies can take both of them.
She spoke in true Leanne fashion, saying what first came to her mind no matter how funny it sounded when it came out. And the reply shocked the heck out of her.
Belles you are hilarious.
Who ever it was had just called her Belles the only people who called her Belles were people she was close to. Her eyes turned sapphire blue as she scanned her brain for the people who called her that but she knew all of their numbers by heart and this wasn’t one of them.
So if you can’t hang now when can you?
She was just trying to figure out who it was. She was trying to figure out who it was. She was trying to figure out who it was. Who was it!
Tomorrow… How about we meet at Ryder Park?
She smiles to herself then, she loves Ryder Park the small jungle gym was where she had gotten her first kiss when she was in kindergarten. And not knowing what else to do she automatically agreed.
Okay when?
It took what seemed like forever for her phone to play that tone again and the answer made her grin.
6:00 AM. I’ll be the one in red pants.
Red pants brought her attention back to the boy who lived next door, all four boys in that house wore skinny jeans and at least two had nice red pairs. So with a huge smile she typed back her silly response.
I’ll be the one who is half asleep.
Belles you always make me laugh. GTG tomorrow J
With a smile she closed her eyes and laid down on her bed a content smile on her face. She didn’t mean too but she drifted off then only to wake the next morning at 5:20. She looks to her phone and realizes that it is vibrating and playing with a new message as soon as she turns her light on.
Morning Sunshine and Golden Belles.
She shakes her head as she gets ready to walk to the little park. Finally twenty five minutes later she is ready, fully dressed and refreshed. She makes it to the park and sits on a swing her legs moving back and forth happily as she hums a song. She feels to hands on her back as someone pushes her swing suddenly and she tries to turn and spot who it is but they move to quickly for her. So she pouts and just sits on the swing her feet buried in the dirt. Her phone starts to play that familiar tone and she looks at it expectantly.
Turn around Belles.
She complies and her eyes go wide when she spots Mr. Perfect there a smile on his face and a rose in his hands.
“You,” she asks completely and totally shocked?
“What you didn’t want to spend your time with me,” Nick asks his face falling so that his shy smile is no more?
“Silly of course I want to spend my time with you. I was just shocked. You know your number isn’t in my phone so I was clueless,” Leanne replies.
“Oh sorry Belles. You know I really have missed hanging with you since you stopped coming with Ashley,” Nick says sitting on the swing next to her.
“You never really talked to me before how could you,” Leanne starts.
“Belles I couldn’t talk I was too awestruck. You know you are beautiful,” Nick says brushing a lock of golden hair from her eyes.
She blushes deeply and he smiles before leaning over and placing a kiss on her lips. Causing her to blush even deeper.
“Sunshine and Golden Belles,” he mummers looking at her.
“Why do you call me that,” Leanne asks?
“Sunshine cause it’s always brighter when you’re around golden cause of your hair and everyone calls you Belles,” he replies.
“Sunshine and Golden Belles finally gets her Mr. Perfect,” Leanne answers causing both to laugh as they watch the sun rise.
