Reminisce on Memories
It all started when a small blackish haired girl cut her knee. She was sitting on the sidewalk tears falling down her face when a taller brown haired boy walked up. He leaned down to help her and even kissed her knee to make it better. With tears still falling she asked him his name.
"Nick," he replied with a small smile on his face as he linked their fingers and the pair walked off.
That was how Malou met Nick, Nick was the one friend she had in this world, every other ‘friend’ wasn’t really a friend at all. That was when she was 6 now Malou was 14, to Nick’s 15 and she hadn’t changed much. Her hair was still blackish currently with two blond chunks in it and her brown eyes still shinned through her long dark eyelashes. She was unhappy with her body shape even though Nick and just about everyone else told her she wasn’t overweight, which she thought she was. But she was happy with the friend she did have.
Her eyes fly to the first picture of them together, when she was six and he was seven their fingers laced as they walk off in the other direction. His mom had taken the picture after she had bandaged Malou’s leg. As they walked back to play once again. And then the pictures become more and more frequent until there was a new one every day that they were together.
While some things hadn’t changed since they met more things had changed. Nick grew out his hair into a big curly afro puff and got a record deal, well three different record deals, one by himself and two with his brothers. He’d released 2 CD’s so far a third on the way and he was adored by every teenage girl in sight. She didn’t see him as often as she had before because he was always on tour, but luckily when he had moved the year before her father had gotten transferred and she moved too.
Her eyes go now to the last picture of the bunch, him and his brothers standing, two of them wrapped around her. She looked lost in their presence, she still hadn’t got used to the sound of all the fan screaming their names. And there certainly were a lot of fans that night, who made her feel like she was meeting the most important people in the world.
“JOE YOURE SO HOTT!” “OH MI GAWD! NICK YOU LOOK SEXY!” “KEVIN IS A HOTTIE!”
Malou’s eyes turn to the brunette boy standing next to her and he just smiles down at her.
“Come on let me take the picture,” she begs looking at the man holding her camera.
“Nope smile Malou! You can take pictures of us on stage,” Nick replies.
So Malou did just that smiling for the camera but her eyes showing just how lost she felt, before grabbing her camera and hurrying away as girls continued to scream. Her camera caught him at his best that night and she was sure that he got to see all of her pictures.
A tear falls from her brown eyes as she thinks of how long it’s been since she had seen him. They’ve been on tour for almost a full year and she’s managed to see him as often as possible on TV but it wasn’t the same as having him there with her. She missed that most, because while she didn’t like to admit it she had fallen in love with him. But it wasn’t a, oh your famous love, it was an I’ve known you my whole like and I don’t know how to tell you love.
Her eyes slide around to another picture, this one is of her and his older brother, they were locked in a kiss and she still blushes thinking back to that day.
“I dare you to kiss Joe,” Nick smiled.
“No.”
“Come on Malou,” Joe says puckering his lip.
She growls at them before leaning her face up and kissing him wrapping her arms around his neck in anger. And of course that’s when Nick snaps a picture getting a growl out of her again.
She didn’t like Joe, she wasn’t even Joe’s friend, well not really but she had kissed him and automatically wanted to vomit. It’s not that Joe wasn’t cute it’s that Joe wasn’t her type of guy. She would much rather go for the boy like Nick the shy one who blushes no matter what and holds her hand when she gets scared. She wanted Nick.
Her phone starts to play his song and she smiles looking at the message, just a little reminder that he’d be coming home tomorrow, as her thoughts drift back to when he first sang it to her.
“When you look me in the eyes and tell me that you love me…”
After those lyrics she was lost, just staring into his eyes as he continued to sing to her. When the song ended she smiled and clapped and wrapped him in a warm hug as he whispered a few last words.
“When you look me in the eyes.”
She just smiled her brown eyes showing golden specks she had never had before. And his own brown eyes seemed to have a shine that was only on around her.
That was probably the first time she even thought of loving Nick and someone, her mother had snapped a picture of Nick singing and her just staring both looking straight into the others eyes. That was her favorite of the pictures, it showed them both vulnerably and caring. As the time flew past she slowly drifted off dreaming of him. Her alarm the next day was his tone once again playing and a message that made her smile.
When you look me in the eyes. It means you are awake! Everything’s alright when you save me from Joe. When you look me in the eyes. I catch a glimpse of Heaven. I find a safe haven, when you look me in the eyes.
She giggles and looks out her window, spotting the familiar faces all carrying bags in from the Jeep. So flying down the stairs she hurries over to his house, wrapping her arms tightly around him causing him to drop his bag.
“I missed you.”
“I missed you too…”
Then he does something that shocks the hell out of her and lowers his lips down to hers in a brief kiss. She flushes red and looks at him surprise in her brown eyes, the golden specks flying around.
“When you look me in the eyes. I catch a glimpse of heaven… I love you Malou,” Nick mumbles into her neck.
“I love you too,” Malou smiles leaning up and kissing him again, full of hunger.
