Chapter 23
Fishing! I love fishing, and I get to be around Nick too. So that’s a double plus, right, right? No. Yeah, we’re still playing the charade of uttermost hatred towards each other, and I swear it’s getting harder and harder to keep a hold of my inhibitions. Sometimes I just want to pounce the fro bro and tackle him in a hug, but yeah we agreed that that wouldn’t happen, publicly at least. Well, back to the fishing. Oh boy.
Charlie was sitting on a folded up towel, by the lake side with her fishing rod out tossed out in the water. The teen dully stared at the hook that had plummeted down into the lake. She wondered if there were even fish in here because nothing seemed to pull at the reel. Looking over at her oh-so-deviously secret boyfriend; Nick Jonas looking just as bored as she was feeling right now, she giggled to herself turning her gaze back to the lake. Nick looked up hearing the sweet harmonizing sound of her giggle, causing his lips to tug up in a smile. They were acting awfully sweet, for ‘hardcore enemies’. They’d throw in a little quarrel sooner or later, just to cover up their act.
The curly headed Jonas couldn’t tear his eyes away from her. She was whistling a light hearted tune and it looked absolutely adorable. “You’re making this hard for me Charlie.” Nick spoke up with a chuckle as he blushed lightly. Charlie confusedly looked over at him. “What do you mean?” She asked bewildered, tucking a dark strand of her hair behind her ear. Nick sighed, looking round the lake. He saw how Heather and Kevin were both trying to get some knots out of their reel, how Joe and Madeleine seemed to be having an intimate conversation, summing it up; nobody would see. He smiled as he leaned towards her face, inching closer, confusing Charlie even more as he softly pressed his lips against hers. The kiss was short and sweet as the two hurriedly drew back hearing a shriek come from across the lake.
“SEE! SEE THAT?!” Frankie’s voice yelped pointing over at Nick and Charlie. Charlie’s eyes grew wide, as did Nick’s. Caught in the act by none other than Frank the Tank, Charlie’s mind was racing whilst a sly grin crept up her face. “WOULD YOU STOP THROWING PEBBLES IN THE WATER PUH-LEASE?” Charlie yelled at Nick, Nick was a little startled but quickly realized that his girlfriend was only trying to cover their tracks. Nick put on a smug face. “Well why don’t you go find another fishing spot!?” Nick yelled back at her.
Everyone looked over at Nick and Charlie fighting again. “What’s so special about Charlie and Nick fighting hun? They do it all the time.” Natalie said with a sigh, reeling in her line. Frankie sighed. “But, but they were kissing! I swear!” Frankie stammered hopelessly, was he going insane?
Heather giggled as Kevin had gotten his arm all tangled up in the line of their rods. “Alright, hold still baby.” Heather said as she cleverly started fiddling the knots out of the two fishing lines. Kevin patiently waited, watching his stunning girlfriend mess around with the ropes. “You know you look really cute when you’re doing that?” Kevin charmingly remarked, making Heather look up with a meek grin. “You know you look really cute all tangled up in fishing lines?” She teased with a giggle, as a smirk appeared on Kevin’s face.
At the docks there was silence lingering between Joe and Madeleine. Sighing a little louder than usual, Madeleine looked over at the nervous Joe. “Uhm, Joe?” Madeleine piped up carefully. Joe looked over at her with a nod. “Yeah?” He replied, equally as cautious. “What was that kiss about yesterday?” Madeline finally managed to say, she was surprised she didn’t stutter when saying so, whilst she anxiously awaited for Joe’s next reply. “Well..” Joe began tensely. “I think you’re a really cool girl, and I really like you.” Joe finished, sounding a bit more confident this time. Madeleine smiled with rosy tainted cheeks. “Well, that’s ‘really cool’ because I really like you too.” Madeleine countered with a small grin etched on her face, whilst a giggle rolled out of her lips. Joe smiled brightly, as his face inched closer to hers, his eyes searching Madeleine’s, as if asking permission for what he was about to do, for a second time. Madeleine grinned, before Joe could do anything she herself closed off the space left between their lips, which emerged into a sweet and tender kiss
Ah, bliss.
