I haven't picked auditions yet, but I don't need them for these first few chapters. So here we go!
Chapter One
Nick’s POV
“Honey are you ok?” Mom asked me.
“I think I have a fever” I moaned.
“Let me see” Mom said walking over to the couch I was laying on.
“Honey you’re burning up!” Mom gasped.
I moaned. “I know. I don’t feel good. I don’t know what’s wrong either. I have a killer headache and my stomach is upset.” I told her
“Ok honey, just relax alright?” Mom said, and I nodded.
Mom came back a few minutes later with a thermometer, some Advil, and a glass of water.
“Here honey, sit up?” Mom said, handing me the water and Advil, which I swallowed.
“Thanks Mommy” I gulped.
Mom kissed my forehead. “You’re welcome honey. Let me take your temperature, and then I want you to get some rest, okay?”
I nodded and she put the thermometer in my ear. “103, yeah, you definitely have a fever” Mom said, and I laid back down on the couch.
“Go to sleep, ok sweetie?” Mom said and I shut my eyes.
I faintly heard Joe, Mom, and Dad talking while I fell asleep.
“What’s wrong with him?” Joe asked.
“He has a fever. I think it’s a stomach bug. He has a fever of 103” Mom said.
“Hope he’s ok” Joe said.
“He will be.” Mom said.
“I read in the paper that Manda left today for Europe. Maybe that’s the reason, like he’s sad she left and so he’s sick” Dad suggested.
“Maybe. I know he really loves her. She’s a great girl too.” Mom said
“Or he could’ve picked up a bug the other day. Christina was sick, maybe he got something from her.” Joe suggested.
“That’s probably it. I bet it’s just a 24 hour bug anyways” Mom said, and that was the last I heard before I fell asleep.
2 Hours Later…
“Nick, honey wake up” Mom shook me awake.
“What time is it?” I asked, opening my eyes.
“What time is it?! It’s summer time! It’s our vacation!” Joe ran in shouting.
I rolled my eyes. “No, seriously, what time is it?”
“Summer time! We’re on vacation!!” Joe said again.
“Mom?” I asked “What time is it?”
“6 o’clock. You were asleep for 2 hours” Mom told me.
I sat up. “Oh, ok”
“It’s dinner time. Do you feel like eating, or is your stomach still upset?” Mom asked me.
I shrugged. “I’m hungry but I’m not. I’ll try to eat…”
“Don’t force yourself. If you don’t feel like eating, don’t, ok?” Mom said.
I nodded, and followed her and Joe to the dinning room.
I tried to eat some of the pasta Mom made, but every time I swallowed I felt like it was about to come right back up.
“Nick, don’t eat if you can’t” Dad reminded me.
“Can I be excused?” I asked, and Mom nodded.
I missed Manda, even though she’d only been gone like, 24 hours. Just knowing she’d be gone for a month and a half was heartbreaking, and that I wouldn’t be able to see her.
I crawled under my covers and turned on my iPod. I needed something to get my mind off her being gone…and my upset stomach.
Mr. Jonas’s POV
“When should we tell him?” I asked.
“Tomorrow” Denise said, and I nodded.
“He’ll be excited” Kevin said.
“I am!” Frankie perked up.
I smiled. “We all are”
Chapter Two
Manda’s POV
“The captain has turned on the fasten seat belt sign. We’ll be landing in London, England soon. Please place all of your items in the correct places and turn off all electronic devices. Please also return the trays to the up-right position” The flight attendant came over the intercom.
I looked out my window. I was nearly half way across the world from Nick, and it felt like 2 worlds away. I was so used to seeing him every day, and now I wouldn’t be able to.
“Manda, are you okay?” Mom asked me.
“Yeah” I sighed.
“You miss Nick, huh?” she asked, and I nodded.
“I wish he could’ve come” I said.
“He was invited, but it was his parents’ decision. And you’ll see him soon. A month and a half will go by in no time. Plus, you’ll be having tons of fun seeing all of your old friends from around the world.” Mom said.
“I won’t have fun seeing you-know-who” I mumbled.
“Who’s you-know-who?” Mom asked confused.
“Oh you know who you-know-who is” I told her.
“No, I don’t know who you-know-who is” Mom said annoyed.
I rolled my eyes.
“You-know-who is the Prime Minister’s son, Eric” Paul turned around and told Mom.
“Oh. I see. Manda, c’mon. He’s not that bad” Mom said.
“Yes he is! He’s like a stalker Mom! I can’t believe I ever liked him” I exclaimed.
“Oh honey, it’ll be okay. You haven’t seen him in a while, and I heard he’s turned out to be a real gentleman” Mom tried to convince me.
“Yeah, a real gentleman. A stalker one” I mumbled.
“Amanda” Mom said sternly.
“What?” I asked.
Mom rolled her eyes. “Try to act excited. This is a big deal, and you have to be on best behavior no matter what, understand?”
I nodded and sighed. “Whatever”
“Did you have one of these cookies? They’re delicious” Pete turned around and asked
I smiled. “No, I didn’t. I’ll remember to next time though”
I remembered when Paul and Pete came on mine and Nick’s first date…
~Flashback~
In the car, no one spoke, except for Nick’s ipod playing. Nick looked a me, and I looked at me with a face that he knew I meant sorry with.
“Um. Dinner was really great” I broke the silence. We had gone to this steak house. “Yeah. Um, it was” Nick said.
“I loved it” Pete, the service agent, said. Paul elbowed Pete.
“What? It was good” he said.
“We’re not supposed to be here” Paul said.
“Oh. Right. Pretend we’re not here, I said nothing about dinner” Paul said.
I had said they were new earlier in the night.
~End Of Flashback~
I giggled just at the thought of that. It didn’t seem so funny at the time, but now when I look back, it really was funny. Nick even says so.
I even remember when I made Nick crawl on the move-theater floor when we ditched the secret service. Paul and Pete had no idea we’d left.
Mom looked at me weird. “Uh, why are you laughing?” she asked.
I shook my head. “No reason”
Chapter Three
The Next Day {For Nick At Least, Not Manda, Because Of That Whole Time-Change Thing And All…} Nick’s POV
“Feeling better?” Mom asked.
“Yeah, I guess it was a 24 hour thing” I said as Mom felt my forehead.
“Guess so, you don’t have a fever any more” she said.
“Breakfast?” Dad asked, putting a plate of pancakes in front of me.
“Thanks” I said, and started to cut them.
“Yep, he’s better. He’s eating again” Joe laughed.
Kevin came in with the paper. “Did ya’ll see the article the other day about the President and First Family leaving for Europe?” he asked.
I shook my head
“Well, you made the paper yesterday” Kevin told me, showing me the paper from yesterday that was in our recycle bin.
I grabbed it from him. Sure enough, front page, was a article headlined “President And First Family Fly To Europe For A Month And A Half For International Convention Of The World and First Daughter In Love?”
“Well, they don’t know who I am” I said after I finished reading it.
“Still, they know about you. And they can always print a picture off of your MySpace” Kevin told me
I shrugged. “Yeah, they could.”
“Wait, I thought your MySpace was on private” Mom said.
“Uh, it was…” I said. “But I took it off private…”
“What? Why?” Mom asked..
“I don’t know, but I did” I told her, and she rolled her eyes at me.
“Well, when you can’t get out of the house because the paparazzi finds out who you are and follows you everywhere, don’t come crying to me” she said, and I shrugged.
“Whatever” I mumbled.
“You made the paper today too Nick!” Kevin said.
Another articled titled, “More On First Daughter In Love…New Information On Mystery MySpace Boy?”
It basically said stuff like what I looked like and what I appeared to like and stuff. Whatever though. There was still no picture, and they didn’t know who I was.
I looked at the picture of Manda that was posted with the article. She looked like she had on our first date. I remembered crawling on that movie theater floor with her…
~Flashback~
At least they didn’t sit with us in the theater. They stood in the back, and we sat down and watched the movie. Eating popcorn. About 35 minutes into the movies, Manda whispered into my ear. “Just follow my lead ok” she said.
I was about to question her, but she kinda like threw herself onto me and onto the floor. We landed with a thud, but we were like totally ok.
“Are you out of your mind?” I whispered.
“No. I’m not. I’m trying to get us out of here” she whispered.
“What? You are out of your mind” I whispered.
“No. I’m not. Just follow me ok. Everything will be ok” she whispered.
“But what about the service? Won’t your dad be ticked?” I asked her.
“Do you want to be alone for the rest of the night or not?” she asked me.
“Yeah. But like, your dad is going to be so mad if he finds out.” I said.
“I’ll handle it. C’mon, let’s have a little fun. I’ve never been on a date before. And I never get to go out with out the service. And if we want any time alone we have to get rid of them. And Dumb and Dumber over there won’t even notice’ we’re gone.” She told me. “Ok. Whatever you say” I said. Believing her was the LAST thing I should’ve done.
We crawled on the floor of the movie theater, all the way to the isle and out the door. Yes, we crawled on the dirty movie theater floor. Never, ever again. It was disgusting. Anyway, we ran out of the theater, and towards the car.
In the car, I looked at her, and she looked at me with a look of pride. “Mission ditch the service at the movies complete” she said.
“Um. Right. Ok then” I said.
“Where now?” I asked.
“Wherever you want.” She said. I sighed.
“We ditched the service, and you don’t even know where you want to go” I said.
“Sorry. Didn’t think about it” she apologized.
“You better be glad I really like you, or I’d be really ticked off. I crawled on a movie theater floor for you. I don’t do that for just anyone” I said. She blushed.
“Thanks” she said. We sat in an awkward silence for a while. Manda gasped.
“What’s wrong?” I asked.
“Club Thousand.” She said.
“What?” I asked.
“Club thousand. That new teen dance club” she said.
“That place is so awesome. It’s totally mad, but awesomely cool” I said.
“I think we should go. I’ve never been” Manda said. I could tell she really wanted to go. “Ok. Ok” I said. Agreeing, or even telling her how awesome Club Thousand was, was probably the worst thing I ever said to her, for now at least.
~End Of Flashback~
Manda was one crazy girl, but I was crazy about her.
