This Is The Story Of A Girl
Who Cried A River And Drowned Her World
But While She Looks So Sad In Photographs
I Absolutely Love Her
When She Smiles
“Can we have an autograph?!” 2 shrieking girls ran up to my brothers and I.
“Sure” Nick said, signing their magazine and snapping a few photos, followed by Joe and myself.
“Thanks girls so much. You’re the best fans ever” I told them, giving them huge hugs.
“You’re amazing!” One girl spit out “I mean, you all are, you’re amazing though too Kevin. Like, amazing, like..” she stuttered.
“It’s okay, I get it” I chuckled, stopping her
Her face was bright red. “Sorry”
“It’s cool” I laughed.

How Many Days In A Year?
She Woke Up With Hope But She Only Found Tears
And I Can Be So Insincere
Making Her Promises Never For Real
As Long As She Stands Here Waiting
Wearing The Holes In The Soles Of Her Shoes
How Many Days Disappear?
When You Look In The Mirror So How Do You Chose?
“Okay, she’s hot” I said, starring at a girl sitting in the corner of a little café in New York City, engrossed in her book, laptop opened.
“Who?” Nick said, looking around.
“Her” I pointed, swallowing my food.
“Yeah, I guess. She looks so sad though” Joe said
I shrugged. “I bet she’s beautiful when she smiles”
“Why don’t you go find out? Put on that old Kevin charm” Nick told me
I laughed. “Whatever”
“C’mon Kev, go! If she isn’t interested, you’ll probably never see her again, so it won’t matter. Just try” Joe told me
“Fine” I said, standing up.
“Good luck dude!” Nick said happily
“Thanks” I said awkwardly.

“Hi” Some guy with brown, curly hair and hazel eyes came over to me.
“Oh, uh, hi” I said startled
“I’m sorry, did I scare you?” the guy started to apologize.
“No, it’s fine, really” I assured him.
“Oh, ok” he laughed. “Uh, I’m Kevin” the guy introduced himself, holding out his hand.
“Christina” I said, shaking his hand.
“Nice to meet you. Uh, what are you doing?” Kevin asked me
“Oh, I was working on some stuff and decided to take a break.” I told him, putting down my book.
“Cool” Kevin said.
“Uh, do you want to sit down?” I asked him
Kevin shrugged, and pulled out the other chair from the table.
“So, do you live here?” Kevin asked
I nodded. “I’ve lived in NYC practically my entire life. My father passed away last year, and my mom moved to Florida to be closer with other family” I said.
“I’m so sorry” Kevin told me
“It’s okay. He was really sick, and I’d rather him not be in here and not in pain then be here in pain and not being happy, you know?” I said
Kevin nodded. “I understand, completely”
“So how about you? What’s your story?” I asked
“Well, you haven’t really finished yours, but okay, I’ll tell mine” Kevin laughed.
“I live in Los Angeles, but I’m originally from Wyckoff, New Jersey. We used to come to the city all the time. I have 3 younger brothers, Joe who’s 18, Nick, 15, and Frankie 7. I’m 20. I have a Mom, a Dad, and, well, that’s pretty much it” Kevin said
I nodded. “Cool. I just have a sister, who’s 24 and lives in Chicago. I’m 20 also” I said.
“Don’t I know you from somewhere?” I asked, looking him in his hazel eyes.
“Uh, I don’t know” Kevin stuttered. “Do you?”
“You just look really familiar” I said, and then it hit me
“Are you Kevin Jonas?” I asked
Kevin shrugged. “It’s possible”
“Oh, cool. Your music is really awesome. You and your brothers are really talented” I told him
“Thanks” Kevin perked up
There was an awkward silence
“So, uh, maybe, I could, call you sometime” Kevin said slowly
“Uh, yeah, sure, Okay.” I said, pulling out my cell.
“What’s your number?” Kevin asked, pulling out his.
I gave him my digits, and he gave me his.
“Cool” Kevin said. “Uh, looks like my bros are getting ready to go, so, I’ll call you later?”
“Sounds good” I said
“Bye” Kevin said, standing up
“Bye” I said, and Kevin left.

“You wanna know what’s weird?” I asked Nick and Joe when we walked out of the restaurant
“What?” Nick asked
“The entire time I talked to her, she never once smiled” I said

I packed up my laptop and dropped my book into my bag also, heading out of the café. My dad loved that place. We used to go there all the time when I was little.
Kevin was a really cool guy. He was funny, cute, had a great personality, and I’m sure talking to him would show me a lot more that was too him than what’s on the cover of a magazine.
I opened up my apartment door, and flipped on the television.
Nothing was on.
I kept thinking about Kevin, wishing he’d call already. I know it’d only been about 2 hours, but still. I didn’t want to call him because I didn’t want him to think I’m weird and stuff.
A few minutes later after going to the bathroom, I looked at the pictures lining my hallways.
“I miss you Daddy” I whispered, touching a picture of him on the wall. “It’s not fair”
I started to cry looking at all the pictures. I couldn’t control myself. It was just too hard. I’ve never been the same ever since my dad passed away almost 2 years ago now. Life seriously wasn’t fair.
I hardly ever smiled anymore. I practically cried ever time I looked at pictures of my dad and I, happy and smiling.

“I’m going to call her” I said, picking up my cell phone.
“K.” Joe said.
“Call who?” Mom asked curiously
“Some chick named Christina Kevin met at that café we went to today” Nick explained
“Oh” Mom smiled.
Christina’s phone kept ringing, and she finally picked up right before it went to the answering machine.
“Hello” Christina sniffled
“Hello. This is Christina, right?” I asked
“Yes it is. Kevin, right?” she asked
“Yep!” I laughed.
“Ok! Hi Kevin!” She said joyfully, trying to hide her sniffles.
“Are you okay?” I asked, referring to her sniffling. It sounded like she’d been crying.
“Oh, yeah. I’m fine, really.” She lied. I knew something was up.
“Alright then. Uh, so, what’s up?” I asked, changing the subject.
“Not much. Just chilling in my apartment” Christina said.
“Cool!” I said. “I always thought it’d be awesome to have an apartment in New York City.”
“I love it. NYC is my life, ya know? Living here my entire life, I pretty much know everything about it” Christina joked.
“I know what you mean” I laughed with her. I wondered if she was smiling just then
“So, I’m in the city tonight, tomorrow, the day after that and I leave late the next night…” I started. “And I was wondering, if maybe, you wanted to, like, go to dinner tonight. With me I mean. And if you don’t want to, that’s cool and stuff. I understand, I was just wondering and, so, yeah” I stuttered
“Uh, sure! Okay! Sounds good!” Christina said joyfully.
“Awesome! Uh, where do you live?” I asked, writing down the directions she gave me.
“Cool, I’ll pick you up at 7, okay?” I said.
“Sounds good!” Christina said.
“Cool, so, I’ll see you then?” I asked
“Ok! See ya” Christina said, and hung up.
“So, you have a date tonight?” Joe asked.
I nodded. “Yep.”

How Many Lovers Stay?
Just To Put Up With This Stuff Day After Day
How Did We Wind Up This Way?
Watching Our Mouths For The Words That We Say
As Long As We Stand Here Waiting
Wearing The Clothes Of The Souls That We Chose
How Do We Get There Today?
When We’re Walking To Far
For The Price Of Our Shoes
I slipped on my little red dress and black high heels, putting my dirty blonde hair loosely up with a clip.
I had to admit, I was nervous. I hadn’t been on a date in years.
I applied a little bit of makeup, and grabbed my purse, sitting down on my couch, waiting for the doorbell to ring.
Finally, it did, and standing on the other side of the door was Kevin Jonas, the guy I was going on my date with tonight. The guy who could actually possibly see me for who I actually was, and not what I wore and looked like.
“Hey” I said, opening my front door.
“Hey” Kevin said, smiling. “Ready?” he asked
“Yeah” I said, walking out the door, and locking it behind me
“Ok, let’s go” Kevin said, and we walked towards the elevator.
~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~
Christina still hadn’t smiled really. Like, she did a little, itty bitty smile sometimes without teeth and stuff, but I meant big happy smiles. I was trying to make her though. I was determined to.
“Do you want to go for a walk?” I asked after I paid our dinner bill.
“Uh, sure!” Christina exclaimed, and I smiled, hoping she would smile big, but no such luck.
“It’s beautiful tonight” she said as we walked.
“Yeah, it is” I agreed. “But I can think of someone more beautiful”
Christina stopped, and stared at me for a second. “Who?” she whispered.
“You” I said, and leaned into kiss her.

Kevin and I stood there, kissing for what seemed like an endless time. I wished it was endless. It felt so right kissing him. Something about it was just magical.
When we finally separated, I felt a smile growing across my face. The biggest smile I’d had in a very, very long time.
“Whoa” Kevin breathed.
“What?” I asked
“You smiled.” He said
I giggled. “Yeah, I did”
“You have a beautiful smile. You should more often” Kevin told me, and kissed me again.
I wrapped my arms around his neck, and he pulled me closer. This was perfect.

“How’d it go?” Joe asked when I returned from my date.
I smiled. “Perfectly”
“Do we sense a new girlfriend?” Nick asked
“Yes, you do” I grinned.

Kevin was the first person that had made me smile since my father died, maybe even before. It takes a real special person to get someone like me to do that…
Maybe he was the right guy…
~4 ½ months later~
“Hey, Christina, wanna go out to dinner tonight? I’m in town…which you know” I heard my boyfriend’s voice say into the phone.
“Sure! Sounds good” I giggled
“Pick you up at 8, ok?” Kevin asked
“Alright. See ya then” I said, and hung up.
“Okay, I have a surprise for you” Kevin said.
“Um…okay” I smiled at the dinner table we were sitting at.
“Close your eyes” Kevin told me
“Okay. Can I open now?” I asked, after only about 5 seconds of having my eyes shut.
“Hang on” Kevin laughed, a nervous tone in his voice. “Okay, open”
I saw Kevin on his knee next to me, a diamond ring in his hand.
He grabbed my hand, and began to say “Christina, I love you more than anyone. You mean the world to me, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?” he asked
I started to cry. “Of course I will!” I cried, and he slipped the ring onto my finger.
I fell into his arms, and he kissed me like he never had before.
“I love you” he whispered into my ear.
“I love you too” I whispered, smiling bigger than I ever had before.
