Chapter: seven (Emily's Point of View)
In five days my dreams would come true. Me and Nick. Nick Jonas. I was going to be his date. I had to keep telling myself that so I would actually believe it. I wasn't the only one I had to convince though. When Laurie and my parents got home I told them the news. They of course didn't believe me. They had known how badly I wanted to win and they figured I was just lying about it. I told them everything that had happened but they still didn't think that it was true. They finally believed me when Ralph called. Ralph was the guy in charge of the contest. He had called to make arrangements of how I would get to L.A.. After that all I heard for the next three hours was 'I'm so sorry I didn't believe you.' from my mom. 'Oh my Jonas! You're gonna meet the Jonas Brothers!' from Laurie, and 'Just because he's famous doesn't mean he is any different from other boys, you be careful.' from my overprotective dad. But hey, it didn't bother me. I was happier than I'd ever been, and no one could take that from me.
"So.." Laurie walked into my room as I was laying on my bed staring at my walls.
"So, what?" I asked, not looking away from Nick's brown eyes.
"So have you even thought about what you're gonna wear?" She said like it was obvious.
"Well, not really. That Ralph guy said that once me and the other winners get to L.A. we get to go with his assistant and buy any dress we want from any store." I said with a smile. How cool was that going to be?!
"Well you should still think about it. You should have a basic picture of what you want to wear in your head, you know so you can pick it out quick and get ready faster." She said. For once, she was making some sense.
"That is a good idea. Do you have any ideas?" I asked her.
"I'm glad you asked!" She said as she ran back to the hall, then came back in with her design book. Laurie was a great artist and loved clothes. She wanted to be a designer one day, and I honestly thought that she would make a great one. She opened her book to a page with a girl that resembled me. She was wearing a really pretty red dress that came to about her knees. "Now, I was thinking that a red dress would be perfect."
"Why's that?" I asked her curiously.
"Burning up. High heels, red dress. See where I'm going with this?" She said smiling and pointing at her drawing.
"Good thinking!" I told her. She must have been thinking about this for a while, even before I won.
"And plus, you look great in red. Nick will love it, I promise." Laurie said winking at me. I laughed.
"Thanks Laur, this is great." I said hugging her. "Now what should I bring to wear the day after the dance? I wanna look good then too."
"Hmm." She looked at me in the eyes. Then went over to my closet. "You should wear something that will bring out your eyes." She said as she looked through my closet.
"What color would do that?" I asked her.
"Well considering your eyes are a mixture of blue, green, and brown, I would go with the color in the middle, which is green. Or maybe even a blue-green color." She told me. It was true. My eyes were dark blue on the outside, then it changed to a green in the middle, which then changed to a brown ring around my pupil. In school some of my friends would say I should have won prettiest eyes.
"Wear this." Laurie said as she tossed a green and cream colored shirt from abercrombie on my bed. "And wear this underneath." she said and tossed a tank top that matched the green on the shirt on my bed.
"Thanks Laurie." I said and smiled.
"No problem." She said and smiled back. "Now I gotta go call Alayna." and she ran out of the room taking her book with her, but leaving the picture of the red dress.
I packed my bag for the three days. I put the shirt Laurie picked some shorts to go with it, and extra shirt and shorts just in case, my pajamas, my camera, my ipod, and the rest of the things I needed. I was ready. I just had to wait five days to go.
