So we were all in the limo now leaving JFK airport and on our way to the city. Everyone was pretty tired so we were all trying to catch those few extra minutes of sleep. I couldn’t seem to relax though because my back was killing me. It sort-of felt like that pain I had before I collapsed and was sent to the hospital. I have been resting a lot, but the doctor said I was free to walk around for at least an hour, but I don’t think I had been getting enough rest. So I began to worry a bit, especially about the baby. I did the only thing I could do at the time, and that was look to Joe for comfort. “Joe” I whispered as I nudged him. “Joey” I said as my voice shook a bit. Joe eyes immediately fluttered open because I only called him Joey when I was scared….or wanted to have s.ex. But Joe immediately knew I was worried by the look on my face. “What is it sweetie?” He asked as he placed his hands atop mine. “My back really hurts; like it did before the accident. It hurts almost all the way around to my stomach really.” I said my voice cracking a bit. “Oh, baby, come here.” Joe said placing a hand protectively on my stomach and the other one around my shoulder as I rested my head on his shoulder. “The doctor said if you ever felt like this again you were to lie in bed for most of the day; just resting.” “B-but” I began as tears began rolling down my face. “it’s our f-first Tha-Thanksgiving together. And wha-what about the inter-vi-ew?” I said hiccupping on all my words as I silently sobbed trying not to wake anyone. “Oh, Ali, please don’t cry honey.” Joe said as I buried my head in the crook of his neck as he rubbed my back. “We will still go to your mother’s with everyone, and who care’s about this one interview. It’s no big deal if you miss it. I will go, do the interview, perform in the parade, and run if I have to, just to get back to you.” “R-really?” I asked Joe as I looked at him and he wiped away my tears. “Of course. For you Ali, I’d do anything.” Joe smiled warmly. “Anything?” I asked as a smile began forming on my face. “Anything.” Joe answered. “Okay then. When you get back, you will give me one of you famous massages?” I asked. “Sure honey.” He laughed a bit. “But we still have sometime ‘till we get there. Want to try to get some rest?” “Sure.” I said softly as I smiled and laid my head on Joe’s shoulder.
Joe had fallen asleep but I couldn’t, still my back was aching and I couldn’t nor wanted to take any medicine for it, because of he baby. So I just sat there looking out the window and observing everyone. Joe was snoring quite softly, with one of his arms placed protectively over my stomach and the other dangling off to the side. Lauren had her head on Nick’s shoulder, who’s mouth was wide open as he had one hand placed on Lauren’s quite small baby bump. Kevin sitting across from Nick and Lauren was smiling in his sleep and had both hands placed on Spencer’s stomach. Paul and Denise were not there though; they had taken a town car separate from us. After sitting there for a few more minutes Nick began to stir and eventually sat up and looked around. “Hey.” He said sleepily rubbing his eyes and ruffling up his curls. “Hey.” I replied smiling. “Can’t sleep?” he asked. “No, my back is killing me again…so bed rest all day…” I said my smile fading. “Oh, that’s no big deal.” Nick said trying to reassure me. “Yeah, I guess so. But I really wish I could be there when you and Lauren announce the pregnancy.” I sighed. “Can you really believe it though?” Nick asked. “Believe what?” “That Kevin and Spencer are having twins, Nick and Lauren and I are having a baby, and the Joe and especially you, being the youngest, are having a baby.” Nick said eyes wide. “Yeah, it’s pretty crazy how this all happened. But you know, I’m only a few months younger than you and Lauren.” I said to Nick. “Yeah but, it’s crazy to have known you since you were sixteen. You know? Watching you get married and pregnant.” He said as he smiled. “But I’ve watched you do the same you know…but Lauren got pregnant…not you.” I said as we both laughed. “I miss us hanging out all the time.” I then said. “I know…a lot has changed.” Nick smiled. “It’s really crazy.” Nick then said. “Really.” I replied.
But a few moments after that we pulled up to the hotel, and not just the hotel, no, it came with screaming girls and lots of flashes from cameras none the less. Everyone was immediately awoken by all the noise and we were all escorted out of the limo by Big Rob, who had already been there waiting and a few other body guards. Lauren, Spencer, and I were quickly shuffled into the hotel lobby away from any danger. As Kevin, Joe and Nick stood outside to take pictures, sign autographs and meet fans. As we all plopped in what seemed to me to be extremely comfortable chairs in the hotel lobby, we all began to drift off to sleep again. But in just a few minutes Joe, Nick and Kevin appeared and we all were up again. “I am starving!” Spencer exclaimed as Joe, Nick and Kevin took seats while we were all checked in and the bell hops took our luggage up to our rooms. “I know!” I replied. “But you know what I’m really in the mood for” I began “Mint chocolate chip ice cream, with rice crispies, froot loops, a chocolate cupcake, and a pickle on the side.” I finished. “Oh that sounds so good!” Spencer said as the men looked at us in disbelief. “Oh ugh,” Lauren began “I am gonna be sick.” She said clutching her stomach. “We should probably head up to the rooms now.” Nick said running to Lauren’s side who was having her daily morning sickness. “Sure.” We all agreed as Joe came to my side and Kevin went to Spencer’s. “Joe,” I began as we walked to the elevator. “Remember you told me in the limo you’d do anything for me?” “Yes...” Joe said. “Well can you-” I began when Joe cut me off “Sweetie, I will get you anything you are craving.” He smiled as we all stepped into the elevator and I kissed him warmly. “Today,” I began as the elevator began to move “I am not only thankful for my husband, family, and wonderful friends, I am thankful for food.” With that everyone laughed and Spencer agreed strongly while Lauren bolted out of the elevator and ran to her and Nick’s room.
