Hand in Hand

The deep hazel eyes looked over at the petite girl standing next to him. While she was abnormally short, atleast according to his brother, she had grown around the middle, the bump where their first child lay. He was nervous, more so than her it seemed. She was calm and breathing deep, her fingers laced into his own, squeezing his everytime that there is a contraction. He was panicked he admitted that, he did not want his first born to be born in the middle of a Hotel Lobby.
“Kevin baby calm down. We’ll do this like we’ve done everything else. Let’s do this.Hand in hand, one step at a time, til we get it right.”
The words cause a smile to form on his face as he remembers the first time that either of them had said those words.
She was in planet hollywood, staring at a pair of handprints hanging on the wall, it had only taken him a few seconds to realize that they were his own and that she was slowly slipping her hand into his. He walked up behind her, sort of like a creepy stalker kid, and just watched her as she stretched her fingers making them almost fit into his handprint. His soft chuckle escaped before he could stop himself and she turned quickly bumping straight into him, her hands landing on his chest. She blushed furiously and apologized until she looked up and then her breath caught in her throat, and she stared up at him. He let out another soft chuckle and she snapped out of her trance blushing redder than before and mumbling an apology before turning to hurry off. But he stopped her grabbing a hold of her hand and lacing their fingers together in a very shocking motion. His face broke into a smile and as he lead her over to his table he spoke those words.
“Let’s do this. Hand in hand, one step at a time til we get it right.”
As they made their way to the limo, which wasn’t a desired baby being born place either she reminised and thought back to the night that had lead to well their relationship.
They were sitting and looking at the stars, he had insisted on it and after about two seconds on the ground he hand reached his hand over and laced his fingers on top of hers. She let out a little laugh and turned her eyes to look straight into his a smile on his face.
“Emmy, I love spending time with you, and well baby let’s do this hand in hand, one step at a time til we get it right.”
She let out a little laugh nodding her head and leaning her face over, ready to except the kiss that she knew was coming any second. And then it happened that perfect first kiss that she had been longing.
They pull to a stop in front of the hospital and make their way inside as he remembers the night that she had agreed to spend the rest of her life with him.
They had been dating for almost three years and he had been trying to figure out how to ask her to spend the rest of her life with him, and he knew the moment he thought back. They were at planet hollywood and she was sitting facing his handprints. It was a little reminder of when they had first met. The waiter walked over and handed her a menu, a special menu for the words on the inside were meant just for her. She opened it without a second thought, though she knew exactly what she wanted and spotting the words tears sprung from her eyes.
Emmy, I love you. Let’s do this hand in hand one step at a time til we get it right. For the rest of our lives. Marry me?
She couldn’t stop crying as she watched him drop to one knee the ring in his hand. All she could do was nod and lean her face down accepting his kiss as he slipped the ring on her finger.
They were rushed to a delivery room, she was ready to pop according to the doctor, and if they had waited a few more minutes then she might not have made it. She just smiled through the next contraction her fingers laced through his own as the pain comes her breathing staying strong, as she remembers the soft words he always spoke to her.
“Emmy it will be okay.”
She looked up at him her eyes full of doubt. They had been married for less than a year, and she was pregnant with their first child. While they were both estatic, she was worried about being a good mother, as good a mother as she knew he would be a father.
“But.”
“No but’s Emmy. We’re gonna do this like everything else. Let’s do this hand in hand, one step at a time til we get it right.”
She smiled and slowly all her fears were erased. She was certain that with his help she could get through anything.
The hard work comes sooner than later and then there is the joy, of holding that gorgeous little girl in their arms. She looks over at him and he kisses mother and daughter, before speaking those words once again.
“Emmy baby let’s do this hand in hand one step at a time til we get it right.”
She let out a little laugh before speaking.
“Like I would have it any other way.”

that was so cute, I can't stop smiling. and seriously, you brought tears to my eyes. omg that was the sweetest story and OMG is all i can process right now.
