Chapter 22
We had lunch together and it felt like those days when Christmas time was packed with people and food and conversation…it was great. The boys had to do some interviews as well as a meet and greet, where my mom got a taste of the hysteria we live every night. She seemed concerned but I told her it was a matter of getting used to, so we both walked around the city killing some time before the concert.
“You know, sometimes I wonder if he will just meet a new person and forget about me” I told my mother as we both sat near a Starbucks enjoying a moka caramel.
“Maria, you need to be careful, I know he is a good person and has a good family, friends…but you never know what fame can do to you” she said concerned. Sure, no one knew that some nights I’d stay up and wonder if Kevin will just look the other way or rumors start to get me.
“I sometimes feel insecure, there are so many beautiful girls around them…I mean his previous girlfriend was a model mom” I was cut off by my mom’s hand.
“No, no, no. Why can’t you see what we see? You are beautiful, you’re smart, you have so many good things honey, and you need to see them. If you don’t start to love yourself, no one will”
I got what my mother said and it did make sense but no matter what, I saw them as normal persons one minute and the next we are surrounded by people and the whole rock star image just pops out.
We got back to the venue and went backstage for the final lock down. We all stood in the big dressing room preparing for the final prayer.
“Joseph, would you…”Mr. Jonas said as we all held hands together.
“Oh yeah!” he said bowing his head.
“Dear Lord, we want to thank you so much for everything you have given us. We ask for a great show tonight, let us rock out, no accidents especially me…there’s been too many” he said and we all laughed, but he was telling the truth we’ve had enough heart attacks with him so far.
“Amen” he said and we all followed.
“Camp fire!” said Nick as we all joined our hands in the middle.
“There’s one more thing you guys that I would like to say…” oh boy here we go. I looked over my mom who was looking everywhere scared of the amount of energy filled in the room.
“LIVING THE DREAM BABY, LIVING THE DREAM!” we all screamed and hugged.
I helped out Nick checking his level of insulin which was fine…thank god. I hugged out Nick and Joe who took me and started to spin me around. Next was Kevin who gave me a hug, wrapping his arms around me.
“Have a great show” I told him feeling the cool air hit my body, missing his body heat. He winked at me and started to walk towards the stage as did all of the crew, getting into places. As we walked down the white hallway I heard footsteps coming from the back of the place.
“Wait! I forgot something” Kevin said as he ran over to where my mom and I stood.
“What? Do you want me to get it?” I asked afraid that he might just be late for his OWN show.
“My good luck kiss” he said leaning over wrapping a hand around my waist and his other hand taking my face. It was quick but so good, as usual.
“Good luck” I said as he started to run again back to the stage. I looked over and realized what just happened in front of my own mother… my cheeks started to feel red and hot.
“Oh no… he likes you alright” she said and we both laughed starting to walk again towards the venue taking our seats enjoying the whole concert where the boys rocked out with more energy than I’ve ever seen.
