          Forget Me Not
He sat on a plane as he flew to a new city. He thought about the last day he would ever spend in a school hallway. He remembered her face smiling as she ran towards him and threw her arms around him. Her words rang in his ears, “I will miss you.” She said. He didn’t say anything back, he was scared. He was leaving everything he knew was a sure thing and stepping out onto thin ice. That was two years ago. Now he wondered if she was ever one of the faces in the thousands he saw every night. What he would do just to see her face one more time. He took out his messenger bag he had in the seat beside him and pulled out a piece of paper that had been folded over and over again. He had put it in his pocket every day and carried it with him. He unfolded it one more time. He watched as a dried flower fell to his lap. A Forget me Not. Then he read the twelve words he had read so many times before. Dear Kevin, I love you. Forget Me Not Please. Love, Annie.  He folded it one more time. He never forgot her. Thing was she had moved on. This dream he was living was like every dream. There comes a time when you want to wake up from it.
