Chapter Two; Nick’s Point of View:
“Hey Nick.” My little brother, Frankie said to me as I came to his little area on our tour bus to help him clean up all of his junk.
“Hey Frank. Dude what’s up with all this stuff?” I laughed at the massive pile of toys and other random things he had.
“I don’t know. Clean it up!” He said pointing at it. I raised my eyebrow.
“You think you can just tell me to clean up your mess?” I laughed.
“Please, Nick! Mom says I can’t watch TV until its cleaned up!” He begged me. I smiled at him.
“Fine, but only this once.” I said giving in to his pleas. He smiled and I sat down and began to look through the pile. He had stuffed animals, bouncy balls, a yo-yo, crayons, notebooks, Webkinz, key chains, a guitar pick, pictures, trash, and a bunch more stuff that he really didn’t need. “Where am I suppose to put this?” I asked him.
“Mom said to put it in my bag.” Frankie answered me and handed me a big red and blue bag that said Frankie sewn into the front of it. I set it down and started putting the stuff inside. Why couldn’t he do this himself? Oh well.
“Hey, Frankie? What’s this?” I asked him holding up a piece of paper. He wasn’t paying much attention to me anymore and he just shrugged his shoulders. I unfolded the white piece of paper and read it to myself.
Frankie, you are definitely The Man. Like I said, I will never forget you, I promise. Call me any time you want to talk. Thanks for everything. ~Love Kristin.
After the girl signed her name she wrote her phone number. Frankie got a girl’s phone number? That actually didn’t surprise me that much. He was the man after all. Wait, Kristin. I thought for a second. Was this Kristin from our vacation to Hawaii? Joe’s Kristin. How could I forget?! She had to be the reason Joe was upset. He fell in love with her, but she didn’t love him back. He was crushed after that. He told me he’d never be able to forget her. I was wondering how I did.
“Frankie, when’d you get her number?” I asked him pointing at Kristin’s name on the note.
“Huh? Oh yeah, Kristin! She gave it to me on the day before me and mom and dad left Hawaii.” He said smiling.
“How did you see her? Frankie, tell me everything you remember.” I told him, trying to figure something out.
“Well she came to the suite and wanted to tell Joe something, but you guys were gone so I told her that. Then she looked sad and I told her I would miss her when I left, too. She told me she would never forget me and hugged me. Oh and she was crying a lot too. Then she gave me that note and that’s all I remember.” He said recalling what had happened. She came looking for Joe to tell him something. She could have been coming to tell him something that could have prevented his misery. She was the problem and the solution of Joe’s depression.
“Okay, thanks Frankie. Can I borrow this?” I asked him about the paper she gave him.
“Sure. Oh and thanks for helping me.” He said smiling. I smiled back. Thank you for helping Joe.
