I like where we are,
When we drive, in your car
I like where we are.... Here
“I love this song! Turn it up Kev!” Lauren yelled excitedly to her good friend. Kevin rolled his hazel eyes and laughed at the girl sitting next to him in the passenger’s seat of his car. He twisted the little black knob that changed the stereos volume from 5 all the way to 21. He knew how Lauren liked to blast the music. “Thank you!” Lauren cheered as In The Ayer by Flo Rida blasted through the speakers. Kevin nodded with a smile as a response, keeping his eyes planted on the road. He wasn’t so much into this kind of music, and honestly neither was Lauren, but she did like this song.
“Oh, hot dang. This is my jam. Keep me partying till the A.M.! Ya’ll don’t understand, make me throw my hands in the ayer, ay, ayer, ayer, ay, ayer!” Lauren sang loudly, trying to persuade Kevin to join in. Kevin just laughed and shook his head refusing to sing with her. He thought it was cute how, even though she was nineteen years old, she refused to swear, hence using the word dang instead of it’s more vulgar term.
Once the song finally finished, Lauren took the liberty of turning down the volume so that Kevin wouldn’t have to.
“I love driving with you Kev. I don’t know anyone else that would agree to blasting the music like that so I could belt out my jam!” She laughed and Kevin chuckled.
“Yeah, I don’t know what I would do without blowing my eardrums out just so my amazing friend could throw her hands in the air.” He said sarcastically.
“It’s ayer, Kevo! Who says air anymore?” She giggled. Kevin sighed as he put his right turn signal on. Once the light turned green he turned into the parking lot of Starbucks.
“Oh, I don’t know? Everyone that isn’t you and that guy named after a state!” He chuckled.
“Well I guess that’s cause you’re not gangster enough to be in me and his crew!” Lauren joked, trying to keep a straight face, but it didn’t really work.
“Oh please,” Kevin rolled his eyes at his friend. The two had actually met from their siblings. Kevin’s brother was going out with Lauren’s sister. When Kevin and Lauren first met, they were pretty shy with each other, but after hanging out a lot for over a month, the two became best friends. They joked around all of the time and went everywhere together. They were exactly what the other needed. Kevin was the one that could calm Lauren down and really understand what she meant. Lauren helped Kevin loosen up and just go out and have fun. “Come on Laur, we’re here.”
Cause our lips, can touch
And our cheeks, can brush
Our lips can touch here
“Wait! Where’d you put my shades?” Lauren asked as she looked around the car for her white rimmed Ray Bans.
“Where did I put them? What about where did you put them?” Kevin chuckled as he searched the floor around his feet for the sunglasses. No glasses there. Lauren looked through her purse, passing by her cell phone, iPod nano, some gum wrappers, a wallet, and some other random things she had stashed away. No sunglasses.
“Well I would remember where I put them! You must have taken them and hid them from me!” Lauren concluded, still looking for them.
“Why would I hide your sunglasses? I just want to go get some coffee!” Kevin practically shouted. He wasn’t mad, he just needed his caffeine.
“I don’t know? I should be ask..”
“There!” They both shouted at the white Ray Bans that were shoved under the cup holder, who knows how they got there. They both simultaneously leaned over, reaching for Lauren’s shades. Their faces now less than an inch apart. Laurens deep blue eyes burned into Kevin’s, both of them having a strange feeling run through their bodies. Neither of them knew what the feeling meant, but they had never felt it before.
“Um, here’s your sunglasses.” Kevin awkwardly backed up and handed them to Lauren.
“Thanks.” She said shyly and placed them over her eyes. Kevin took the keys out of the ignition and opened the car door, avoiding anymore awkward moments. Both Kevin and Lauren got out of the car and made their way to the entrance of the small Starbucks.
“After you.” Kevin politely opened the door for Lauren. She smiled and walked in.
“Thank you.” She said and Kevin followed her to a small table where she took a seat instantly.
“So I take it you want me to order?” Kevin chuckled at how quickly she sat down.
“If you don’t mind.” She said with a huge grin on her face that was making Kevin’s heart beat fast.
“Not at all.”
Well you are the one the one that lies close to me
Whispers hello I miss you quite terribly
I fell in love, in love with you suddenly
Now there's no place else I could be but here in your arms
Kevin walked up to the counter, leaving Lauren alone at the table. He smiled when he glanced over at her. She placed her shades on her head and had her cell in her hands, texting away.
“Hi, welcome to Starbucks. What can I get for you today?” A perky red head asked with a big smile on her freckle-covered face.
“Um,” Kevin started but paused when he felt his iPhone vibrating in his pocket. He ignored it for a second while he ordered. “One grande chai tea latte and a tall strawberries and cream frappacino, please.” He handed the girl the cash and pulled his phone out of his pocket. Lauren. He smiled and looked over at her. She quickly turned back around as if she hadn’t been looking at him. He rolled his eyes and looked at the text message. He read it quietly to himself. ‘Kevo, I miss you terribly!L ’ Kevin chuckled to himself and wrote a reply as he waited for his drinks. ‘You’re the one that made me leave!’ he pressed send and not even ten seconds later he had a new message from none other than Lauren. He loved all the little things about her and one of those things was that she was an extremely fast texter. ‘Well that doesn’t mean I can’t miss you!” He smiled. That was true.
“Chai tea latte and strawberry frap?” A man standing behind the counter with two drinks in his hands asked. Kevin put his phone back in his pocket and nodded at the man to tell him they were his. He took them from him and walked back over to the table, setting Lauren’s drink in front of her.
“Yay!” She cheered quietly and took a sip of the cold, pink drink. “You’re forgiven.” She smiled as she took another sip.
“For what?” Kevin asked her not knowing what she meant.
“For not texting me back! I got worried!” Lauren exclaimed trying her hardest not to laugh.
“I bet you were.” He smiled, shaking his head at her. She smiled back at him, and when she did, Kevin was speechless. He didn’t quite know how to explain it, but there was something magical about the way she smiled. He hadn’t noticed it before, but now it definitely stood out.
“Kevo? Yo Kev?”
Kevin realized he had been staring and shook his head, zoning back into reality.
“Um. Oh, um, sorry.” He stuttered and Lauren just rolled her eyes.
“Did you hear anything I just said?” She smirked at him.
“Um, no?” He hesitated to say but did anyway. Lauren laughed and Kevin was relieved.
“Well, Joe texted me and said they rented a movie for all of us to watch.” She repeated, this time Kevin listened.
“Oh, okay well then let’s go.”
I like where you sleep,
When you sleep, next to me.
I like where you sleep... here
About fifteen minutes after leaving the parking lot of Starbucks, Kevin pulled into the driveway of his home. After parking and both him and Lauren exited the vehicle, they walked through the front door of the Jonas household.
“We’re here!” Kevin shouted down the dark hallway towards the living room.
“Hurry up man!” Joe’s voice yelled back coming from around the corner.
“Come on.” Kevin said quietly and grabbed Lauren’s hand, causing her to blush, she didn’t understand why though. She agreed and followed his lead into the cozy living room.
“Finally! We were gonna start without you guys.” Nicholas complained. He was sitting on a chocolate colored leather couch with his arm around a pretty brown haired girl, that just so happen to be Lauren’s sister.
“Oh please. You wouldn’t dare!” Lauren laughed and Nick just shrugged his shoulders.
“Whatever guys. Just sit down so we can start it!” Joe commanded. He was seated in a leather recliner that matched the couch Nick and Emily were on. Seated next to, or should I say practically on top of Joe was his girlfriend Alayna. Her light brown hair was put in a ponytail to the opposite side of Joseph’s face and a smile was on her pale, yet pretty face.
“Calm down, jeez.” Kevin rolled his eyes and led Lauren to a couch in the middle of the other two seats. This one was smaller than the other couch and was directly facing the television.
Lauren plopped down on the couch and Kevin sat down next to her. Joe took the liberty of pressing play, and the movie began. The screen came on and the sound of Sweet Home Alabama came through the speakers.
“Joe, Texas Chainsaw Massacre?” Kevin asked giving his brother a look that said are-you-serious?.
“What? I didn’t choose it! Alayna suggested it!” Joe exclaimed defending himself but smiled at his girlfriend when he said her name.
“Alayna, is this true?” Lauren asked in a joking tone.
“Yeah! I love me some gore! Don’t you?” Alayna said causing everyone else to laugh at her.
“Okay, okay. Just watch the movie.” Nick said and after that, everyone fell basically silent.
About a half an hour through the movie Kevin looked to his left at Joe and Alayna. Joe’s face was priceless. He looked scared out of his mind, while Alayna had a slight smile on hers. Her eyes were wide open, not missing a second of it. Kevin then turned to the right and saw Nick and Emily who, let’s just say, weren’t paying any attention to the movie at all. Kevin turned away from them, not in the mood to watch his little brother make out with his girlfriend. Kevin then looked down to find Lauren’s head rested on his shoulder, her eyes shut. Leave it to Lauren to be the one that falls asleep while people are getting their limbs chopped off by a guy with a chainsaw. He smiled as he watched her breathe, petting her head gently. He was curious to how he didn’t notice how beautiful she was before today.
Our lips, can touch
And our cheeks, can brush
Cause our lips can touch here
Kevin continued to watch the movie, occasionally wincing and cringing at the sights shown on the screen. It wasn’t till he jumped up from being startled by Leatherface , that Lauren opened her blue eyes. She did a quick scan around the room. She was a little confused at where she was since she had just woken up. Lauren looked over at Joe who looked petrified while Alayna was laughing. She looked over the other way to find Nick and her sister, still not watching the movie. She rolled her eyes and Kevin noticed.
“Oh, I know how much you want to do that.” Kevin whispered sarcastically. Lauren hit him gently on the shoulder.
“Yeah I want to make out with my sister’s boyfriend!” She whispered, using sarcasm too.
Kevin chuckled, “I didn’t mean with him.” Lauren got a strange look on her face. “Or her!” He added and they both laughed.
“Good.” Lauren said quietly. Then smiled up at Kevin with an eyebrow raised. “Then who did you mean?”
Kevin blushed. “Oh, um. I don’t know. Um who ever you want?” He stuttered. Lauren just smiled at him.
“Oh, I see.” She whispered. In her mind she thought about how Kevin was right. She did want to kiss someone. She wanted to kiss him.
Well you are the one the one that lies close to me
Whisper's hello I miss you quite terribly
I fell in love, in love with you suddenly
Now there's no place else I could be but here in your arms
“So, how was your nap?” Kevin whispered changing the subject. Lauren shrugged.
“It was okay, but I had a bad dream. Or at least I thought it was a dream, it might have just been the movie.” She pointed at the screen where a blonde guy named Andy was hung over a piano with a hook in his back. Kevin made a disgusted face that made Lauren giggle. “I’m guessing it was just the movie.” She said quietly.
“I wouldn’t be surprised.” Kevin said rolling his hazel eyes. Lauren smiled at him, her head leaning on his shoulder.
“You know what I hated most about that nap, though?” She said looking into his eyes that just so happen to be looking back at hers.
“What?” He asked curiously.
“That I couldn’t see you.” She paused and then whispered just loud enough for him to hear. “I missed you quite terribly.”
Kevin smiled. He knew the feeling in his gut was right. There was definitely something special about this girl. He had known it all along, but now he really realized it. He had fallen in love with this girl and somewhere along the way she fell for him, too.
Our lips, can touch
Our lips, can touch...here
Kevin smiled and gently brushed a few misplaced brown hairs out of Lauren’s eyes. She blushed and smiled slightly.
“Kevin, I feel something.. different.” Lauren whispered to him. He smiled, but not because she felt something.
“You called me Kevin. You haven’t called me that since we first met.” Kevin said quietly. Lauren thought back. The only time she had ever called him Kevin was when they were introducing themselves to each other. She would normally call him Kev, or Kevo, even Kevy, but not Kevin.
“I told you something was different.” She smiled.
“Good different?” He asked. She didn’t answer with words. Instead she kissed him gently on the lips.
“Good different.” She answered with a big smile on her face. Kevin smiled back and kissed her again, and again, and again.

It had been four months since Kevin and Lauren fell in love and shared their first kiss together. The love they shared for each other was as strong as it was, possibly even stronger than four months ago. Only problem was the distance had also grown. Kevin and his brothers had been on tour for about three months. No matter how much he loved touring and performing, his love for Lauren was stronger and it was one of the hardest things he ever had to endure by being away from her. It was hard for her too. All she would think about is being in his strong arms again. She wanted to be with him more than she had ever wanted anything before. Luckily for them both, the tour was finished and Kevin was coming back home.
Well you are the one the one that lies close to me

Lauren, Emily, and Alayna were seated on the Jonas’s porch waiting for the boys to pull up so they could finally see them again. Three months is a long time to go without seeing the one you love. The three girls were sitting in silence, all thinking about basically the same thing. “There!” Alayna said excitedly as she pointed at the big tour bus that was pulling up. Lauren slowly looked up with a smile on her face, just as the bus stopped. The doors opened and the youngest brother in the band quickly came down the steps smiling big.
“Emily!” He said as she stood up and gave him a huge hug.
“I missed you so much, Nick!” She exclaimed with a look of happiness in her eyes. Next out of the bus was Joseph. He smiled as Alayna ran towards him, engulfing him in a hug. Lauren looked towards the door of the bus with hope in her blue eyes. Then, as if it were right on cue, Kevin stepped down off the steps and onto the grass. Lauren stood up and walked towards him. Once they were only inches apart Kevin wrapped his arms around her slim frame. She smiled at his touch and was glad to have him back.
“I missed you like crazy.” She whispered in his ear. He smiled.
“I missed you too.” Kevin whispered back to her. The couple stood in each others arms silently, just thinking about how happy they were to have each other.
“Kevo, I love you.” Lauren said, breaking the silence. Kevin grinned at the use of her nickname for him. He missed that when he was on the road.
“I love you, too.” He said, still not letting go of her. She didn’t mind though. She was just happy to be back where she belonged. Here in his arms.
Here in your arms.
Here in your arms.
