Chapter 27
Julia’s POV
We were walking back towards the hotel. All I could think about was how we were so close, I mean this close (holds my thumb and index finger about a centimeter apart, mentally) to kissing. Did I say I hate watches? Because I do! They are evil! Very….evil!
I sighed and Nick turned to look at me, concern on his face, “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing! I was just thinking…about how I missed…my family.” It was the first thing I could think of. I guess you could say it was partly true. I haven’t seen them in a while but I was used to going several months without seeing them so I was fine.
“I’m sorry. I know it seems tough but you’ll see them soon” He comforted me.
“Yeah…I know” I played along, acting like I was all sad. The sadder I seemed, the closer he pulled me to him. He had his arm around my shoulder and I was leaning into him as we walked. If you were walking by us on the street, you would think we were a couple or something. Someday…I’m very determined for that to be true someday.
“Hey Jules” I hears someone say my name behind me. Both Nick and I stopped and turned around. There standing in front of me was my older brother. Well what a coincidink!
“Trey!!” I ran up to him and hugged him. “Nick this is my brother Trey, Trey this is Nick. He’s on my team.” Trey and Nick both smiled and shook hands.
“Julia was just talking about how she missed her family” Nick said and I smiled at him. I swear, whenever I think of excuses, they always turn on me. I wouldn’t say that out loud though because Nick doesn’t know it was an excuse (shh, it’s a secret!).
We talked for another three minutes and Trey said he would be at the games to watch. I was so happy he was here. We’re really tight! It messed us both up when I moved out of the country for the show, but we both made it through. We’re family and nothing could change that. “Oh and Carla will be there too Jules!” Trey said as he was walking away. I smiled to myself as we started walking the hotel again.
“Who’s Carli?” Nick asked.
“My brother’s girlfriend. We’re really tight! She’s really cool, you would like her.” I said. He nodded.
“You’re brother seems pretty cool” He said, starting another conversation.
“Yeah! He is! He’s not quite a year older than Kevin. We are really close”
I can tell” He smiled and looked down at me. I smiled back and almost ran into the hotel door. Nick laughed at my expression of shock. He opened the door for me, “Well thank you kind sir” I joked.
“You are welcome miss” He replied and walked in behind me. By now we were both laughing as we walked towards the elevator. It was shutting so we ran and yelled for whoever was in it to hold the door. They did and we made it.
“Thanks” I said as I tried to catch my breath.
“No problem” A guy that looked a couple years older than me said as he smirked and checked me out. I just looked at him as I felt Nick put his arm around me. I looked over at Nick in surprise to se him sending the dude death glares. I just laughed to myself, and sang in my head someone’s getting jealous.
Soon we were on our floor and we walked down the hall to our rooms. I smiled at him as I pulled out my key. “That guy obviously wasn’t going to touch me” I smirked and he gave me a surprised face. “You made sure of that” I added and he just smiled, blushed, and walked into his room. I laughed to myself as I walked into mine, and found it empty.
I sat on the couch and at that instant, Neeta walked in. She asked me if I had fund and I nodded. Then she suggested we get ready right when Emily walked in.
“What took you so long?” I asked her and she gave me a simple answer, “We got lost”
I burst out laughing, thinking of how Joe was probably acting throughout that. Well…time for the games to begin…again.
