Hey guys, this is my friend Natasha and my fanfic that we are writing together. This is the prologue below. I't's sort of like the intro test to see how many replies we get. So if you love this and are looking for a fanfic to read...then READ please...I'll have you know that this is the prlogue ...as in the before part. It's when the characters officiallly met when they were 7. The whole FF is not like this. It actually ends up jumping to when the characters are in University in Chapter One so don't be fooled by the seven year old beginning lol Here it is:
The Story to Tell
Prologue
Shay and Alexa pumped their legs back and forth, swinging higher into the sky. They were going to the park on account of it being Shay’s 7th birthday.
“Alexa! I’m swinging higher than you!!” Shay yelled as their competition prolonged.
“Not for long!! Get ready to lose!!” Alexa called back.
Shay pushed herself forward, she flew to the ground, picking herself up, and whirled around to face Alexa.
“HA!! How do you like that!?” Shay laughed and ran to the slide. All of a sudden, she felt the hard hit of someone else slamming face first into her, causing her and a little boy to fall to the ground. When she finally gained back her balance to stand, she came face to face with a little boy. The boy looked like he was about the same age as her, but how could she tell through all the tears.
“Nick!! Dude, are you alright?” called another little boy. He looked the same as the first boy, but clearly older.
“I’m fine Joe…but how are you? I’m so sorry. I guess I wasn’t looking” he said, gesturing towards Shay. She wiped her eyes and sniffled.
“I’m okay. Um... “she sniffled some more as she stuttered. Just as she found her voice, Alexa appeared behind her.
“Who do you think you are? Bumping into my best friend like that!! I think this calls for a swinging competition!! You, little boy, against Shay!! The best swinger in town!! SHE EVEN BEAT ME!!!” Alexa challenged the boy. Shay took off towards the swing set, followed by the little boy. Shay jumped on the swing, ready to beat the little boy who had caused her to dirty her new favourite t-shirt that she had received for her birthday. The boy hopped on the swing as well, waiting for someone to say ‘GO!’
“Okay, let’s explain the rules. Now Shay, and—you little boy…what’s your name again? I didn’t catch it.” Alexa questioned Shay’s competitor.
“My name is Nicholas. You’re Shay, right?” Nicholas turned to face Shay.
“HEY!! My name is Alexa! Ever think about asking me MY name?” Alexa lectured Nicholas. At that point, the boy that had helped Nicholas and a different little boy were gathered around Shay and Nicholas, watching the scene.
“ Yes, what is your name Alexa?” one of the boys said. Alexa whipped around to face the cheeky little boy who had replied to her comment. She placed her hand on her hip and gave him a look that basically said ‘Uh, stupid boy!’
“You know my name. But I don’t know yours? And who are you?” Alexa said to the two boys.
“ I’m Joseph and this is my older brother—“ Joseph started to say.
“I’m Kevin…thank you very much. I can introduce myself Joe.” Kevin cut Joseph off.
“Soooorrrrryyy! Didn’t know you were so ‘sensitive’ Kevin.” Joseph replied. “My parents—well my mother—call me Joseph (that’s my full name) but everyone else, calls me Joe…”
“FINE JOE!!!” she screamed in his face. He stepped back with a look of sheer terror.
“Okay…let’s get this competition over with.” Shay interrupted. Alexa explained the “so called rules” and then prepared the two for the start of the competition.
“READY, SET—“ Alexa began to say but was cut off, again.
“GO!” Kevin and Joe screamed as Alexa got cut off. She looked at them evilly and then stormed off to the monkey bars. Joe and Kevin laughed loud at the look of surprise that was on Alexa’s face before she stormed off in anger. But just as they were in the middle of their laughter, a wave of guilt came over Kevin. Being the older one, he walked over to where Alexa was sitting on top of the monkey bars.
Shay pumped harder and harder to try to beat her new friend, Nicholas. He did the same thing.
“OKAY! ARE YOU READY TO JUMP? “ Joe said. He signaled the signs of 1, 2, and 3 with his fingers. They were to jump after Joe said 3.
“Are you ready to get creamed, Nicholas…whatever your last name is?” Shay screamed to him. Nicholas nodded and on that note, they jumped. Shay flew through the air, just like always. Nick flew in the exact same direction. Shay landed first, but this time, flat on her back. She gave a small scream and once Nick had landed, he ran to her side.
“SHAY! Can you hear me? Are you alive?” he called to her. She sat up with a look of confusion on her face. She was fine, just fine. But when she caught Nicholas’s eyes, she was even better.
