CHAPTER 1
(Three Years Later: Nick and Mads are both 18)
“Bye mommy. I’ll miss you” Nick said as he hugged his mom tight. Denise was holding back the tears.
“Take care of yourself son. We’re proud of you” Kevin Sr. said as he gave his son a hug too.
Kevin and Joe were quiet as they hugged their little brother. Both holding back tears.
“Nick! Don’t leave” Frankie cried out as he clung to his brother’s leg.
“I’m sorry Frankie, but you know I have to, right? I promise I’ll call you whenever I can. After all, I need you to guard our room from Joe” Nick chuckled as he hugged his little brother.
“Bye Mads. Take care.” Denise said as she hugged me, followed by Kevin Sr, Kevin, Joe and Frankie.
I couldn’t believe it. We were really leaving already. Nick and I took a deep breath as we walked to his car.
“Ready Mads?” Nick asked as he loaded my last suitcase unto the trunk of his car.
We had just left his house and said goodbye to his whole family.
I nodded as we walked up to my front porch where my family was waiting for me.
“Take care honey” my dad said as he gave me a hug.
“I will, dad. Don’t worry” I said with a smile.
“You can always stay here you know” mom said as she was wiping her tears.
“Moooom, I’ll be fine.” I laughed as I gave her a hug.
Then I hugged Aimee who was crying. “Aww, don’t miss me too much ok?”
She laughed as she stuck her tongue out at me.
“Geez, what are you, 5?” I teased as I hugged her again.
“I’ll miss you” she croaked.
“I’ll miss you too” I said hugging her tighter.
“You better take good care of her” Aimee reprimanded Nick.
“Of course I will” he said, hugging her too.
“Mads! I’m going to miss you! Who else would I play soccer with?” Jake said.
Yeah, Jake and I are still good friends. In fact, Jake and Aimee are dating now. Well, they’ve been dating for two years already. Who would have thought that they would get together after all that Nick and Mads drama?
“Haha try working on her. But you’ll probably have a better chance at training your dog” I laughed, pointing at Aimee.
“Heeey!” she said.
“I know you’ll miss me” I laughed.
I hugged Jake goodbye and Nick and him had a man-hug.
Soon it was time to go.
Nick walked me to the passenger seat of his car and opened the door for me. I got inside and watched the Jonas family walking over to our house and waving from the front porch with my family as I waited for Nick to get to his seat.
“Are you ready?” he asked, looking at me after he turned on the ignition.
“Ready as I’ll ever be” I smiled at him as we both waved to our families and drove off.
Nick and I got accepted into the same university (which was an hour and a half away from our town) and we’ll be living in dorms there. I was pretty anxious, but knowing that Nick and I would be together in this new environment made me feel so much better.
Now, if only someone warned me that things don’t always go the way we want them to…
Kevin and Joe won’t appear as much in the story, well, at least not yet. I hope that’s fine with you girls. Let me know what you think =) Should I continue?
