Chapter Three-
It felt like the weeks before Becca and Kellie headed off to L.A. just flew by! The two of them arrived at the airport at 7 in the morning for a 9:00 flight. They went through baggage check, security, got something to eat and walked to their gate.
“I’m so excited!” Becca exclaimed as they set their stuff down and waited for their flight to start boarding.
“Me too,” Kellie said unwrapping her egg sandwich. 15 minutes later the flight boarded and was ready for take off.
About 6 hours after take off they were landing in LAX. The plane landed and the seatbelt sign was off, everyone was getting up gathering their carry-on luggage. Kellie and Becca grabbed their bags from the overhead compartment and followed the line of people off the plane. The girls walked to the gate the plane was let out in and looked around, they heard people calling their names to the left and sure enough when they looked that way, Kevin, Nick, and Joe were standing there waving their arms. The girls ran over to them.
“NICK, JOE, KEVIN,” They yelled as they got closer.
“KELLIE, BECCA,” The guys called back. Becca ran straight for Nick and gave him a big hug.
“It’s been so long!” Kellie stood awkwardly in front of Joe and Kevin.
“Kellie,” Kevin said pulling her into a big hug.
“Hey Kevin,” Kellie stepped back and looked at Joe. He smiled and extended his arms. He pulled Kellie into a hug and everyone looked at them awkwardly.
“Where’s Rose?” Becca asked.
“She’s with her parents at their hotel for the day.” Kevin explained.
“Oh, that’s good.”
“Should we go get your bags?” Nick asked. Becca and Kellie nodded and the five of them walked through the terminal to the baggage claim. After getting the girl’s luggage they walked out to the car Big Rob was waiting in.
“Hey Rob, how have you been?” Becca asked climbing into the back seat of the car.
“Good thanks,”
Everyone was pretty quiet on the way to the hotel the girl’s were staying at. When they arrived the girls grabbed their bags and said goodbye to the boys.
“Well, it was nice to see them again. They all look so different, yet the same.” Becca said as the girls walked into their suite.
“Yeah I know!” Kellie said walking into one of the rooms and putting her suitcase down.
“Hey, you okay?” Becca asked standing in the door to Kellie’s room.
“Yeah, why?”
“You seem upset,” Kellie sighed.
“It’s just weird, you know?”
“Yeah Kell, I get it. I mean you Joe had so much and now it’s gone.” Kellie looked down at the carpet.
“Oh Kellie! I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have mentioned that.”
“No it’s okay Becca.” She looked up at her friend.
“Look, I’m going to go freshen up before dinner, you should do the same.”
“Okay,” Kellie said as Becca turned around and walked over to her room.
The next day was the day that the girls were getting together with Nick, Joe, and Kevin.
“Becca are you ready yet? They’re going to be here any minute!” Just as Kellie finished talking there was a knock on the door to the hotel room.
“I’m almost done!” Becca called from her room. Kellie opened the door to see the three boys and Rose standing there.
“ROSE!” Kellie exclaimed tackling her into a hug.
“Kell, it’s been so long. How have you been?”
“I’m great how are you?”
“Amazing,” Rose said. Kellie told them all to come in and make themselves comfortable while Becca finished getting ready. Kellie and Rose were talking, trying to catch up.
“Oh my gosh, that is a beautiful ring.” Kellie said noticing the huge rock on Rose’s finger.
“Oh thanks,” Rose smiled. Becca finally emerged from her room.
“Oh, hey guys Rose oh my god!”
“Hey Becca!” Rose said as they hugged. The six of them headed down the street to some restaurant Kevin wanted everyone all to go to.
“Mr. Jonas! So nice to see you again!” The man at the reception table said.
“Joey, how’ve you been?” Kevin said shaking the man’s hand.
“Great, how many do you have with you tonight?”
“Seven.”
“Right away Mr. Jonas,”
“Seven?” Becca said.
“Oh yeah, Joe is Amy coming?” Kevin asked.
“Yeah, she might be a little late though.”
“Who’s Amy?”
“Joe’s girl…uh, Joe’s girlfriend.” Nick said uncomfortably.
“Oh,” Becca said looking at Kellie. She noticed Kellie trying to not look as shocked as she was.
Ouch.
The six of them took their seats, leaving one empty beside Joe.
“Hey!” A girl with dark hair and green eyes said as she walked over to the table.
“Hey babe,” Joe said giving her a soft kiss on the cheek.
“Who’s this?”
“Amy, this is Becca and…and Kellie.” He introduced everyone.
“Hi, I’m Amy.”
“Hi,” Kellie and Becca said simultaneously. As Amy said everyone fell into an awkward silence until the food came.
Eventually everyone began talking more and more and Kellie tried to stay in a conversation with Nick, Kevin, or Becca. It was almost amazing how much older they looked. Kevin was almost starting to look like a father figure (hehe), Nick had started shaving, and Joe looked a lot more mature.
“How’s Frankie?” Kellie asked.
“He’s doing pretty well, his band is still going strong and sometimes they get to play at some small theaters.”
“Aw, that’s so cute.”
“Don’t say that around him! He would yell at you and say ‘I’M NOT 7 ANYMORE! I’M 17!’” Nick said laughing a little.
“Wow, he’s already 17.” Kellie sighed.
“Yeah I know, it’s crazy.” Joe added in. Everyone got quiet after Joe spoke. This was definitely going to be an awkward week for everyone.
