Five years later

“FINALLY!” I said as the bell rang. High school drags on and on. I push past people and get into the wide hallway where I could finally breath.
“HEY MADDY! WAIT UP!” I turn around to see Rachel, my bestie since 4th grade, running toward me.
“Ugh!! FINE!” She gets this disappointed look on her face. “Come on then.” I start to laugh. We start to walk toward our lockers. We finally arrive there and fight our way through the crowd.
“Good thing we are walkers huh?” I said, opening my locker, seeing his gorgeous brown eyes, his striking smile, his curly hair. Nick Jonas. My role model and crush.
“Totes.”
“What?”
“Totes… totally…”
“Oh. I get it.” I shoved all my books in my locker. Today was Friday, October third. Also known as my 15th birthday. I couldn’t wait to get home and check my mail for birthday cards. We both slam our lockers shut and walk out of the building and toward our houses.
“Remember in the fifth grade when you wrote that letter to Nick?”
“Yah.”
“I wonder what happened to it.”
“Who knows? Probably covered in a huge pile of smelly dirt.”
“Wouldn’t it be so cool if it was still being forwarded to people.”
“That would be awesome, I mean, it has been five years.”
We were less than fifty feet away from my house, so I started to run. I ran to the mailbox and flung the door open. I shifted through the piles of letters, junk mail, and magazines. Then a bright blue envelope with messy handwriting caught my eye. It had my name on it. I looked at the right hand corner and screamed.
“AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH” Rachel ran to me. I sat on the ground so I wouldn’t faint and ripped open the envelope.
“What is it? Who is it from?” Rachel prodded.
“It’s a letter.” I took a deep breath. “From Nick Jonas.”
