Maura's POV!!
Becky and I walked out of the girl's locker room and headed to the lobby where we saw Amy waiting there... innocently... "Okay, all done!" Becky spoke.
"Alright, let's go!" Amy responded. Was she hiding something?
I looked around the lobby before speaking up. "Hey Amy? Are you okay?" I asked suspiciously.
Amy quickly hid the smile. "Uhh, yeah! Why wouldn't I...?"
"Well, the fact that we just ran into them! And we also found out that the freakish lady isn't with them..." I looked around the lobby again, feeling watched.
"Look, can we not talk about this? I'm getting freaked out as it is and I just wanna get out of here!" Becky exclaimed.
"Yeah, I totally agree with Becky!" Amy nodded, trying to change the subject.
I sighed and rolled my eyes. "Yeah, my mom said she's meet us in front of the building." We walked out of the lobby and sat on the bench outside next to the door. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a movement by the side of the building. I turned my head- it was them... "Crap..." I muttered and looked away.
Becky looked over in my direction and spotted them, too. She sighed and rolled her eyes in disgust. "Could they get any more desperate?" she asked. Amy and I laughed at the comment, but I took it a little overboard. So much, that the boys overheard and came over.
"Hello ladies," Joe said. I thought he winked from behind his sunglasses, but I wasn't sure...
I abruptly got up and adjusted my pink cami that was under my white shirt, not looking interested. "Hello boys," I sighed. I peered over my sunglasses to glance at them and mocked Joe's smile.
Becky snickered, but stayed seated. I looked over at her and Amy and winked. Amy's eyes got wide and shook her head no. I gave her a confused look and then frowned. She knew what I was up to...
I looked over towards the boys who were standing there innocently, but patient. "So..." I began. I walked over to Nick. "How's life treatin' ya?" I asked with a smiled and linked arms with him.
Nick looked at his brothers then back to me. He wasn't expecting this. "Uhh, okay I guess."
I stifled a giggle and looked at Becky and Amy who sat there, bewildered. "But you know," Nick continued. "it hasn't been the same without you..." He turned us around and began walking in the opposite direction, with me still linked to his arm. Okay, I wasn't even expecting this...
I looked away from his gaze. What did I just do? I saw my mom's black Mercedes pull up in front of the building. "Awww. Well then, I don't know if it's gonna get better..." I trailed off and then pulled my arm from his and began walking away.
But Nick then took ahold of my elbow and pulled me close. So close, that I could feel his breath on my neck. I shivered. "Maura... Why are you being like this?" He asked innocently.
I sighed and looked down. " Why are you being like this?" I asked.
Nick provided his own sigh. "What made you like this? Are you mad at me? What did I do?"
"Nick, it's not just you," I began. "It's also Joe... I mean, once he did that to Amy... I couldn't talk to either of you- even Kevin! So, I don't really have anything against you, but it's Joe and Amy..." I saw their black Escalade pull up as well and heard my mom honk her horn.
"But, Joe's giving it another shot with Amy. He just asked her out tonight and she said yes. So, now there's no need to be like that." And he just shrugged his shoulders and walked to his car, leaving me to stand there, shocked.
Maybe make it with the three of them but black and white and mysterious...
