Chapter 1
Sitting in my dressing room I smiled to myself. I had just been through hair and make-up and was now waiting for a runner to come get me. I looked at the big clock on the wall. The runner probably wouldn’t be coming soon, there was still 1½ hour left before the show. Now you may wonder what show I was talking about. Let me start by introducing myself. My name is Maria, and I’m an actress. Well, I’m a musician too, but my musical career is yet to have its breakthrough, as I’m at the moment adding the final touches to what’s supposed to be the first single off my first album, which is still in the progress. So basically, people know me as an actress, which is why I’m backstage on said show.
The show I’m talking about is the annual Disney awards. That’s right, I work for Disney. I started out with minor parts, such as being an extra in all three HSM-movies. Then I starred in the part of the main character’s best friend in another movie, that didn’t really become a success with the viewers, but that’s where my current manager spotted me and after that he contacted me. Then, thanks to some experience with DC and the expertise of my manager Mike, I got my own show, that’s still running to this day. It’s called “The G-Files” and is about a girl called Gina, played by me, and tells about her life with school, friends and of course boys. A few celebrities have been included, like Mitchel Musso, Cody Linley and Jesse McCartney, and oh, did I love shooting those episodes. The boys were absolutely professional, so we didn’t chat much during the time of shooting, but I kept in touch with all of them afterwards. Mitchel is such a joker, he can always crack me up, but he is also my best friend. He is the best listener imaginable, and he has always helped me whenever something was wrong, like, boy trouble or something else. Cody is amazing as well. He and I actually dated for a while, didn’t work out though. It lasted about a month or two, until we realised that we were better at being friends, which we are now. Now, Jesse, I owe that guy everything. He was the one who discovered my musical talent one day on the set when he fooled around with a guitar and I started singing along, jamming for a while. Now, he is another of my best friends as well as the producer of my upcoming album. We work together so amazingly. It’s like, we get the exact same ideas and communicate without words. We also write a majority of the songs together.
Seeing as I had 1½ hour to kill, I decided to go sit on the couch with my laptop. I turned it on and went on my MySpace-page. I had a some new comments and messages. Reading through them, I unwrapped a strawberry & cream-flavoured Chupa Chups lollipop and slipped it in my mouth. Then I started typing replies to the messages.
*Joe’s POV*
Running down the hallways of the backstage area of the Disney awards, I was frantically searching for our dressing room. I have been doing this a lot lately; you see, when I’m stressed out and tired from being on tour, which I had been for the last 5 months, I tend to forget things. Like, where our dressing room is. When I say our, I mean me and my brothers. Yep, my name is Joseph Adam Jonas, a.k.a. Joe, and I’m a part of the Jonas Brothers along with my brothers Kevin, who’s older than me, and Nick, who’s younger than me. We also have a younger brother called Franklin, but also known as Frankie or Frank the Tank.
As I said, I was looking for our dressing room. I honestly didn’t have a clue about where it was, everything in such places looked alike to me. To make it all worse, they were putting up nametags on the doors at the moment, so some of them were blank. Stopping outside a blank door, I decided to go for it. Maybe this was my door. I turned the handle, opened the door and then, my heart stopped.
In the room sat a gorgeous brunette on the couch with a laptop in her lap and a lollipop in her mouth. She had obviously already been through hair and make-up, seeing as her make-up was done and her hair had been curled into loose waves that were partly pinned back to reveal a pair of beautiful green eyes. She must not have heard me open the door, though, seeing as she stayed focused on the screen of the computer. I smiled to myself. This ought to be a great night.
*Maria’s POV*
As I was nearly done with replying on MySpace, I heard a cough from the door and looked up to see a young man with dark hair smiling at me. At first I thought he was the runner, even though he looked quite familiar. Suddenly it struck me. He only confirmed my suspicion when he said, “Hi, I’m sorry to interrupt you, I got the wrong door. I’m Joe, by the way,” and smiled. I smiled back. I knew full well who he was. I mean, heck, how could I not know? There in the doorway of my dressing room stood Joe Jonas. Joseph Adam Jonas. The guy who were going to change my life forever, only I didn’t know it yet.
