Snippet # 2 for the day...why, cause I feel like it (see, Lexi, I can fight the urge to bust into song every now and then)
I walked into the room, preparing to call them all to dinner. What I saw made me giggle though. Joe turned to me and winked, and then he turned back to the video game…Guitar Hero. Kevin was on the difficult level and doing quite well. But all of a sudden, he started hitting wrong notes. Now, I’ve seen Kevin play before and he gets every song dam.n near perfect. And even if he does mess up, he always seems to be able to jump right back in. Not this time. It was obvious to me that Joe was controlling Kevin’s fingers. Kevin started looking frustrated and Nick had this surprised expression on his face.
“YES!!! I won. You owe me twenty bucks.” Joe jumped up and danced around.
“That was horrible. I’m usually never that bad.” Kevin said, pulling out his wallet.
“Guys, dinner is ready.” I gave Joe a look.
“Keep your money, Kevin. I’m sure I owe you twenty bucks from something, anyway. We can call it even.” Kevin gave Joe a questioning look but stuck his wallet back in his pocket.
“Kevin, Nick, you two go on ahead. I need to talk to Joseph in private.” I said and Nick grinned.
“Nice knowing you, dude.” Kevin laughed and he and Nick headed towards the back of the bus.
“What do you think you’re doing?” I stood with my hands on my hips.
“I waited till you were supervising before I started.” He said, looking down at his feet.
“Joe, you’re better than this.” I cupped his chin and forced eye contact. “You’re better than taking advantage of your brothers. I get that you want to beat them, believe me. But betting money when you know you have an unfair advantage? That’s not you. Please don’t make me regret teaching you.”
“Sorry. I just couldn’t resist.”
“Next time, resist. Ok?” He smiled.
