Ok, Soooooo...I believe I promised a new chapter today, did I not???
Here it is
Just To Recap…
“She says I’m not ready to fight. I’ve been a vampire for over a year. She’s been helping to train me for some of that…”
“Hold it…approximately how long have you been training?” Kevin stopped him.
“Six months or so. Why?”
“That’s around the time I started losing to you at EVERY video game. I think I smell a rat.”
“Hey, since you’re immortal, you really WILL go to the year 3000.” Nick said.
“Guys, focus. Nisha, death match, possible end of the world?”

Chapter 23
“Right.” Kevin said. “But don’t think I will forget this.” A few seconds later, there was a knock at the door between Joe’s and my room.
“Nisha, we need to talk. All four of us.” Joe said. Then, without waiting for my response, he pushed the door open, effectively breaking the lock.
“Dude, that’s awesome!” Nick said, examining the door. Joe gave him a look. “Right, sorry.”
“Nisha, are you really planning on facing your sister? In a fight to the death?” I closed my eyes in frustration.
“Joseph, do you think this is the best way to go about trying to get me to agree with you?”
“Nisha, I can’t just stand by and watch you get yourself killed.”
“Well, I can’t just let you do the same thing. You could get killed if you try to fight her…even WITH me. I can’t guarantee your safety. I can’t…I can’t…” Dam.n, I was crying. “I love you, Joe. I can’t lose you.”
“Nick, um, I think I hear someone calling us.” Kevin dragged Nick back into Joe’s room and pulled the door closed. I wiped my eyes and turned to leave, but Joe grabbed my arm and pulled me to him.
“Really? You love me?” I nodded and sniffed…stupid emotions. “See, this is why you can’t do this alone. I can’t lose you either, because I love you too.” No one had ever said those words to me before. I had never thought I would need to hear them until he said them to me.
“So, this whole time, they weren’t really dating?” Nick asked.
“Shhh.” Kevin whispered. “They didn’t start off that way, but now they’re in love.”
“That’s so cute.”
Joe and I laughed, hearing his brothers eavesdrop on us for a change.
“Promise me you won’t go off to fight Samar alone.” Joe cupped my chin so I couldn’t look away.
“Joe…” All of a sudden, the door between the two rooms swung open.
“We have a solution.” Nick said, jumping onto my bed.
“Well, we think we might. What if you were to turn us into vampires too?” I stared at Nick and Kevin in disbelief. Obviously there had been NO thinking involved in their “solution” making process.
“Um, how about no.”
“Why not? We could help.”
“Well, for starters, you couldn’t help because even if I bit you now, you’d have absolutely no training time, and you’d end up being hindrances instead of assets, in ANY battle.”
“But…”
“Look, Joe and I are Beloveds. We’ll be able to handle anything they throw at us, as long as we’re together.” Joe looked at me in disbelief.
“You’re gonna let us do this together?”
“Well, if it means it keeps your brothers from being killed, I guess I really have no choice, now do I?” I sighed. “Guys, I’m sorry you have to find out about us this way. I just can’t have anyone else risking their lives because of my sister.” Tears began to fall from my eyes, again.
“So, we don’t get to be vampires?”
“Can we talk about that later? Much later?” Joe asked, motioning with his eyes for them to leave. They nodded and took the hint. “What’s wrong, Nisha?”
“Joe, I’m so scared.”
“We can handle them.” He pulled me into a hug.
“No.” I leaned back to look him in the eyes. “You don’t understand. I’m scared for you. That I’ll get killed and you will have to face Samar on your own. That she’ll have some sort of power over you because she’s the one who turned you.” I angrily wiped the tears from my eyes. He started to interrupt, but I held a finger to his lips. “But mostly, I think, I am scared for me. That you’ll think she’d make a better Beloved for you than I will. That you will get killed, and I will be without you. I just…I don’t know if I could live with either of those options.”
“Hey,” He said gently. “I love you. Nothing is ever going to change that. And don’t you worry. You and I will have eternity to spend together, getting on each other’s nerves, driving each other crazy, and…”
“Ok, ok, I get it.” I smiled. “I love you.”
“Say it again.”
“It again.”
“Cute…real cute.”
