ARG...Ok, so this chapter isn't much better in the length department. But I feel I should post it cause that last chapter was just kinda pffft.
Chapter 5:
“Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!”
“Are you calling the car that, or yourself?” I hadn’t heard anyone approach, so the voice caused me to jump. I spun around, only to come face to face with a girl.
“Can I help you?” I snapped. My car had just decided to die on me in some crazy Podunk little town and I wasn’t really in the mood to deal with fans. I just wanted this Zee guy from this town’s only auto shop to hurry up and get here and fix my car and get me the hell out of here.
“Actually, I’m pretty sure I can help you. I’m Zee.” I knew I was being sexist, but there was NO way this girl was a mechanic.
“You CAN’T be Zee. The guy on the phone said you’d most likely have my car fixed by the end of the day!”
“Wow.” She smirked at me. “I didn’t realize the world had just shifted and we were in the 19th century.” I suddenly realized how stupid I was sounding.
“I’m sorry. It’s just…”
“Forget it. Pop the hood.” I stared at her. “If it’s something small and I can fix it here, I won’t have to charge you for towing it to the shop.” She explained. I nodded, reached inside through the open window, and pulled the release. Smoke billowed out of the engine.
“Oops.”
“I can already tell it’s gonna have to go to the shop.” She said crossly.
“Why are you so upset? You get to hike up my bill. If anyone should be mad, it’s ME.”
“I am MAD, Mr. Jonas, because you have such a gorgeous car, and you’ve run her into the ground. I won’t be able to tell the full extent of the damage till I get her to the shop, but the smoke is from the radiator. You haven’t been checking her fluids regularly, have you?”
“Uh…” She sighed and shut the hood.
“That’s what I thought. Give me a minute to call Tim to bring around the tow truck.”
