Chapter 14
“I am still not sure what I’m doing.” Joe whispered to Nisha, who was crouching next to him behind the wall of the restaurant. Every few seconds, Joe would peek into the window at Kevin and Mona.
“You have to figure out how to get him out here. Just him.”
“But…”
“If I go in, she’ll know something’s up. You get him to follow you out here and then,” Nisha grinned and pulled out a bottle of clear liquid from her pocket. “I’ll knock him out with this.”
“And Pari is in place?” Nisha nodded. “And…”
“Joe, you know we can handle the memory of everyone who might see us kidnap your brother. Don’t worry. Everything will be fine. Just GO!!!” She pushed him not-so-gently towards the front of the restaurant. Then she signaled to Nick to have the driver bring the limo around.
“Joe! What are you doing here?” Kevin and Mona looked up. Joe had a panicked look on his face. “If you’re here to tell me more horrible things about Mona, I’ve had enough of it. So just save it.”
“I-uh…I have a problem.” Joe leaned over and whispered into Kevin’s ear. Kevin’s eyes grew.
“Um…Mona, I’ll be right back.” Mona nodded and Kevin stood, following Joe out of the restaurant. “Are you ser…?” His words were cut off as Nisha covered his mouth and nose with a cloth from behind.
“Grab his feet!” Nisha directed and Joe followed, grabbing Kevin’s feet. Together, they carried him to the waiting limo. Nick got out and helped them to situate his limp body inside. Then, they took off.
“No!!!” Mona shouted, watching everything that had taken place outside. She dashed for the door, but felt a hand pull her back. “Let go of me!!!” She attempted to yank her arm away, but she felt herself dissolving. She turned to see it was Pari who was holding onto her. “You stupid bit…!!!” They both disappeared.
No one in the restaurant, no one outside the restaurant, no one anywhere who witnessed the events knew what was going on, and a few moments later, none of them remembered. They simply continued going about their day.
