Lost and Found
Kevin/Nick oneshot for Kirsten/Margaret
“This is fun Kirsten, it’s good to spend time with you again”
Kirsten smiled as she braided Margaret’s dark brunette hair. They were sisters, and closer then most sisters were, so when Kirsten went off to college, things had to change. Kirsten knew that her younger sister missed her like crazy during that time, and so she decided to spend the whole break at home hanging out with Margaret.
“It’s good to be home with you for a while. I’ve missed my baby sister” She sat down at Margaret’s side and admired the braid she just made.
Margaret turned onto her side to face her older sister. “Only a couple years apart, Kirs. You’re in college and I'm in high school. It’s not that big a difference”
Kirsten nodded. “Age makes no difference to best friends”
“Aw” Margaret sat up to hug her sister.
Kirsten hugged back, but when the hug didn’t seem to end she pushed Margaret back. “You’re not going to get a tan if you’re moving around so much” Kirsten warned her.
Margaret gasped and laid back down on her stomach on top of her towel. She fixed her braid so that it was off of her back, and then she closed her eyes.
Kirsten didn’t lay down though. “Hey Maggs, I’ll be back. I'm going to take a walk”
“Ok”
Kirsten stood up and brushed the sand off her legs. She slipped her flipflops on and padded through the sand toward the park. Even with flipflops on, the sand seemed to burn Kirsten. She decided to find a tree to sit under for a while.
When she sat against the tree, her eyes shut on their own. Looks like she was more tired than she thought. But at least it was peaceful...
Well it was until someone started shaking her body. Kirsten suspected it was Margaret, so she kept her eyes closed. Whoever it was kept shaking her though.
“Wake up...please”
It wasn’t Margaret’s voice, which shocked Kirsten. The voice belonged to a young boy, and it sounded distressed.
Kirsten opened her eyes to see Frankie Jonas staring back at her.
She furrowed her eyebrows together. “Hey?”
He immediately hugged her. From what it sounded like, Kirsten could swear he was crying. She pried him off of her and held him back by his shoulders. He was actually crying.
“Aw honey, what’s wrong?”
Frankie sniffled and plopped onto his bottom, sitting next to Kirsten. He was crying pretty hard.
“Are you ok?” Kirsten asked him.
He shook his head.
“What do you need sweetie? I can try to help”
Frankie let out a sigh. “I'm lost”
“Aw” Kirsten opened her arms for him to hug her. He jumped into her welcoming arms and hugged her again. “Frankie, I’ll help you, ok?”
He nodded. “You obviously know my name cuz of my brothers right?”
“Yeah kiddo”
“I can't find them” He frowned.
Kirsten ruffled his hair. “Well it’ll be easier to find them since I know who they are”
He smiled at her. “Thank you, kind pretty lady”
She giggled. “My name is Kirsten”
“Thank you, kind pretty Kirsten” He hugged her once more.
“You’re welcome” She smiled. “Alright, let’s go find your family!” She stood up and helped Frankie to his feet. She had to bend down to speak to him, because she was taller compared to the kid, though she was kind of short in general. “Ok, where did you last see them?”
He looked as if he was deep in thought. “Somewhere in this big park”
She nodded. “And do you have the bus here or a car that you might meet at?”
He shook his head. “We walked from our hotel”
Kirsten glanced around the park. “Who is we? It might help to know who you’re here with exactly”
“Kevin and Nick”
“Alright Frankie” She held out her hand for him to take. He accepted her hand. “Let’s find them”
Kirsten led Frankie through the park, looking around for his two brothers. They checked the bathrooms, the playground, the beach and the bike trail. Nothing.
“We’re never going to find them, are we?” Frankie looked like he had give up all hope.
“No, we’ll find them. Ok?”
“Yeah”
“Do you maybe know their cell phone numbers?”
Frankie stared off into space, trying to remember. “Maybe”
Kirsten pulled out her phone and handed it to Frankie. “Type in the numbers and I’ll do the rest”
He hesitated before punching in a few numbers on the phone. Kirsten pressed send and brought it up to her ear.
“Hello?” Surprisingly, it sounded like Kevin Jonas. Frankie must have remembered the right number, to Kirsten’s surprise.
“Hi. Kevin Jonas?”
He groaned, figuring it was a fan. “Sorry, you’ve got the-”
“Don’t lie. Is this Kevin Jonas?”
He sighed. “Yes”
“Kevin, I found Frankie. He came up to me and I'm trying to help him find you, but-”
“Are you at the park?”
“Yes”
Kevin sighed relief. “So Frankie’s ok?”
“He was crying a little, but he’s fine” Kirsten looked around, hoping to catch sight of Kevin. “Where are you?”
“I’ll come to you. Tell me where you’re at and stay put”
Kirsten nodded. “By the juice bar”
“Nick come on, I’ve found Frankie” Kevin called faintly. “Ok, we’re coming. What are you wearing?”
“A yellow bikini”
Kevin laughed. “Polka dots?”
“Yeah” She giggled.
“Hair color?”
“Golden Blond”
Kevin was silent for a moment. “Eye color?”
Kirsten raised an eyebrow. “You won't be able to see my eyes until you’re up close”
“I was just curious” He was probably blushing. “Ooh! I see you! Wait no....dang, a lot of girls have blond hair and a yellow polka dotted bikini”
Kirsten laughed.
“How about you raise your hand or something?” Kevin suggested.
Kirsten shrugged and raised the hand that was holding onto Frankie’s.
“I see you!” He cheered. “Nick, go!”
A ranting rock-star suddenly appeared in front of Kirsten and Frankie. It was Nick. He engulfed Frankie in a hug. Soon after, Kevin came running up. He hugged Frankie when Nick was done, and then glanced at Kirsten.
Nick and Kevin both smiled at her. “Thank you” Nick hugged her first.
“No problem”
Kevin hugged her next. “Thank you so much”
“You’re welcome” She smiled.
“How can we make it up to you?” Kevin asked.
“It’s ok, I swear”
Nick pursed his lips. “You know, you’re really pretty. Do you have a sister?”
Kirsten laughed. “Thanks. And yeah, she’s the one in the purple polka dotted bikini tanning on the-”
Before Kirsten even finished, Nick ran off toward the beach in search of Margaret.
Kirsten giggled. “Well he wasted no time”
“Kirsty helped me Kevin!” Frankie hugged Kirsten legs. “You should date her. I like her”
Kevin blushed. “Hah, sorry. Frankie’s a bit.....”
Kirsten was blushing too. “It’s ok”
“Well maybe....” Kevin stopped. “Uh...”
“I’d love to” She answered his unfinished question.
“Awesome” Kevin beamed.
“Yay!” Frankie hugged Kevin’s legs now. “You should get married now!”
Kirsten giggled at this.
“One step at a time, Frankie” Kevin laughed off the embarrassment. “So how about tonight?”
“That sounds-”
“Hey!” Nick and Margaret approached the group. They held hands.
“See Kevin!” Frankie pointed. “Nick works fast!”
Nick flushed pink. “....Yeah.....uh..awkward”
Margaret giggled. “So we’re going out tonight. Do you want to join us Kirs?”
Kevin and Kirsten exchanged glances. “Double?”
Nick grinned. “Cool!”
“Yeah!” Margaret laughed. “This is so much better than a tan!”
“Hey Kevin?” Frankie tugged on Kevin’s shorts. He pointed to the playground. “Let’s make it a triple. I like that girl over there”
Kevin laughed. “He took after Nick” He explained to Kirsten.
Nick whopped Kevin on the back of his head.
So basically I was going for simple. Nothing too crazy or complicated, just a simple plot. How’d you guys like it? Let me know!
