Nick/Joe oneshot
It was a Saturday morning, and I felt like taking a lazy day, so I turned on my iPod and put it on shuffle.
The first song that started playing was “Just Friends”, which was a good jam song. I turned the volume up as high as it would go and put my iPod to the side. Sitting next to me was my notebook and a pencil, so I picked them up and jotted down some lyrics from the song. If I was lucky, an idea would hit me. I’d rather not just sit around all day, once again, doing nothing.
I don’t wanna lead you on, but the truth is I’ve grown fond of you.
Everyone knows it’s meant to be falling in love just you and me

After that, I decided to write down a familiar love story. It was a beautiful relationship between two people I personally know, so I thought it’d be a cool idea to write that down and send it to Nick, who was one of the lovebirds. I'm sure he’d appreciate something like this. It was his own personal love story told by songs – a very interesting and unique way to write about it.
I shut off the shuffle on my iPod and created a playlist in the order the songs applied to the love story. I immediately knew that I had a lot of writing left to go for this. But it would be fun at least.
His name was Nick, and he was her best friend. Little did she know, he was romantically attracted to her, and it was a growing feeling that got stronger every single day. Then one day he let her know...
At the perfect time, the song ended and switched to the next one.
“Please Be Mine”
I had to stop and listen for a few seconds, because this song always got to me in ways I couldn’t explain. It was not only an extremely cute song, but it was also very catchy and perfect for the next song in the story.
But I’ll be there forever, you will see that it’s better, all our hopes and our dreams will come true. I will not disappoint you, I will be right there for you, ‘til the end, the end of time. Please be mine.
He serenaded her with the song “Please Be Mine”, which let her know exactly the way he felt about her. He said she was the center of his universe, and he loved her as more than just a friend. Her jaw dropped in shock when Nick got down on his knees and held up a ring. A promise ring...
Oh sweet mama, it’s getting hot in here. A promise ring!?
I know, I know. I was surprised too when I heard from Nick that he got his girl a promise ring. But I left my reaction out because I'm practically irrelevant in this story. It’s all about Nick and his girl.
The song switched again, this time playing “BB Good”

She accepted the ring. But she did so only after having Nick promise that this would never affect their friendship. They decided that they felt the same about each other, so they promised to never let one another down. It was a promise they both vowed to never break...
I sighed when the next song turned on. “Love Is On It’s Way”
Young love was just too cute, don’t you agree? Well, even if you don’t agree, I still think so. It’s special and entrancing when you get to watch it from up close. And that was how I got to see this whole story unravel. It happened right in front of my eyes, and I'm honored that I got to see that.
Young hearts, I believe that we are not far, from becoming who we truly are, love is on its way. Dreamers, they see everything in color, while the world is getting darker, love is on its way.
They fell in love, and knew it happened because the two could trust each other with everything they had. Every day they spent together as more than friends brought them closer together than anyone ever could imagine. This love was the real deal, and it strengthened daily...
Precious, isn't it? You better agree with me this time before it’s too late. You’ll see what I mean later...
The next song was “Inseparable” It was the most lovey-dovey and passionate song in the playlist. Just another crucial piece to the puzzle.
You know when the sun forgets to shine; I’ll be there to hold you though the night, we’ll be running so fast we can fly tonight. And even when we’re miles and miles apart, you’re still holding all of my heart, I promise it will never be dark. I know we’re inseparable.
Nick was a rock star, so he had his work, which included tours and interviews galore. A few times he had to leave his girl behind, but even when they were separate, they really weren’t. Not a day went by where they didn’t think about each other, or have some means of contact. Whether it was through email, texting or phone calls – they used it all. Sometimes only a word would be exchanged between them, but they knew it was better than nothing. And then when Nick would return to her side back at home, they were stronger than ever, because the distance made them realize their level of love. It was extremely high...
I pursed my lips when “Tonight” began playing. This song definitely symbolized the weak point in their relationship. I always loved a good love story...but the sad downfalls got to me every time. It was just sad to see that even lovers fought sometimes. If that happens, is there really hope for the rest of us? I guess everything happens for a reason, so there’s no way to change how a fight plays out. It’s just a ‘one step at a time’ type of thing.
Well there’s no need to fight, we’re just wasting time. If we give it a try, well then maybe we’ll find. Now we know we’re in love so let’s keep it alive. Starting to see the morning light. Well we finally worked this out.
It was a dumb fight, and the only fight that’s ever come between them, but it was going to bring them closer in the future. At the time though, they honestly didn’t think they’d make it though the rough and tough time. Even though the reason for it all was dumb, it was still an argument that neither would let go of. So they pretended to forget it, in hopes that they could keep their relationship in tack...
Sad how that never works out, right?
Honestly, I need to stop asking questions. You don’t care about me, do you? Oh dang, there I go again. This is about Nick and the currently nameless beauty that he always called his own – it’s not about me.
Obviously we’re to the point in the story where there are hardships between the two lovers, but I’ve made my point now, so I’ll shut up and get back to the story.
Next song up was “Can't Have You”
Lookin’ at the letter that you left, wondering if I’ll ever get you back. Thinking about when I’ll see you next, knowing that I never will forget. That I was being such a food, and I still don’t deserve you.
Basically it got to a point where she had enough. She loved Nick, and knew she did, but there was suffering along the way that she could do without... So she broke it off..
I don’t wanna fall asleep, cuz I don’t know if I’ll get up. And I don’t wanna cause a scene, but I'm dying without your love. Begging to hear your voice, tell me you love me too. Cuz I’d rather just be alone, if I know that I can't have you.
Nick was devastated. It was his career that broke them apart and caused their intense fight, and he felt at fault. But he still loved her, and he couldn’t be mad at her for wishing he were around more. And when she was out of his life for that extended amount of time, it was a hard period for him. All he wanted was her, but she was mad at him. It was tragic...
So tell me what we’re fighting for, cuz you know that the truth means so much more, cuz you would if you could don’t lie. Cuz I’d give everything that I’ve got left to show you I mean what I have said, I know I was such a fool, but I can't live without you.
He tried reasoning with her. He knew – and she knew too – that they shouldn’t be fighting. It was a stupid fight anyway, and not worth the time apart. Nick honestly couldn’t live without her, and he told her that billions of times as he begged her back. But they stayed broken up, both of them suffering because of it...
Another sad song, “Sorry”, began playing. This was another one of the songs Nick had sung to her. Serenading a girl went a long way, right? Almost always, correct? But not this time. Sorry to ruin the surprise... but I can't help myself.

Filled with sorrow, filled with pain, knowing that I am to blame for leaving your heart out in the rain. And I know you’re gonna walk away, leave me with a price to pay, before you do I wanted to say.
Nick felt completely at fault, because his last tour had made everything fall apart. He didn’t want to let her go through, and he knew very well that if she was out of his life forever he would have trouble going on alone. He tried one more time to get the love of his life back...
I smiled as Hello Beautiful played through the speakers. Happiness. Finally.
Hello beautiful, it’s been a long time, since my phone’s rung, and you’ve been on that line, I’ve been missing you, it’s true.
They went two weeks without talking, which was extremely odd because of how close they were once upon a time. From best friends, to being a couple, and then to not speaking at all...it was a big jump. Nick couldn’t let her go though, as anyone would have figured. One call and one voicemail changed it all. He sang her “Hello Beautiful”, and she returned his call...
The last song in the playlist started playing. “When You Look Me in the Eyes”
How long will I be waiting to be with you again? Gonna tell you that I love you in the best way that I can, I can't take a day without you here, you’re the light that makes my darkness disappear.
When she called him back, they were clear across the country. But that didn’t change their feelings. They simply made up, because they knew they loved each other, and fighting was stupid...
When you look me in the eyes and tell me that you love me, everything’s alright, when you’re right here by my side, when you look me in the eyes, I catch a glimpse of heaven, I find my paradise when you look me in the eyes.
They’ve been thousands of miles away since, and haven’t come face to face in a long long time. But even though the distance apart was large, they still talked daily by using email, mail, texts, calls and webchats. The fact that they were in love made the distance not matter as much. It was hard being apart, but they could handle it because they knew they’d still love each other. And because of their fight, they knew that they couldn’t lose each other. It was a learning experience for them....
I smiled and looked at the notebook. It was a very cute love story, and I knew Nick would love to read it. So I tore it out and mailed it to him. I knew he’d be grateful to read it, since he loves his girl dearly, and anything that reminds him of her was special to Nick. He hasn’t been reunited with her in months, which saddens me. I hoped this would make him smile at least a little bit. And maybe someday the distance problem could finally be fixed.

A few days passed before I heard from Nick again. He sent me an email, letting me know he got my letter. And I'm going to cut to the chase before you slit my throat. I know you’re getting antsy in your seat to see what happens next. But hold your horses, please and thanks.

I swear, the second after I sent the email, I heard a little “click” noise, and I saw that I already had a new email. Man, Nick works fast. Either that or it was the fact that the universe was getting angry at me for stalling this love story. I'm leaning toward the second one.
Where’s the end of the story you ask? Like I said, hold on, I'm getting to it. Love takes time, and fixing distance issues takes even longer.

I should have known.
I jumped up off my bed, grabbed my escape rope latter (don’t ask) and opened my window to see Nick already outside my window. My room was on the second floor, so the rope was necessary to sneak out without anyone knowing. I guess Nick wanted to sneak in so that my sister (aka his lover) Ariella doesn’t see him. I guess I'm in on the surprise whether I like it or not. It’s a good thing I'm willing to help my sister and her boyfriend reunite.
But I wonder how long Nick’s been outside... That makes me quite curious. Would he wait days to see my sister? Years? Maybe even centuries? If it was possible, I bet he would. Nick was the charmer, and my sister totally deserved him.
I threw the rope out my open window, and Nick climbed up. When he got into my room, he hugged me quickly. “Thanks for helping”
“No problem” I smiled at him. Honestly, it wasn’t a big deal. I was just happy to see him here. Fairytales were always my favorite, so I was glad I could assist in some way. Maybe I’ll even be in the cast list for the movie version of this fairytale! Oh, I could only dream. I don’t have a prince charming here with me right now...
“Is she home?” He asked anxiously. I expected him to ask that sooner, and I'm surprised he didn’t actually. But I guess that’s just his gentleman side. My sister couldn’t have picked the better boy.
I nodded in response.
He smiled largely. I knew he was getting hyped up to see my sister. “I'm gonna go surprise her. Is she in her room?”
She has been for a while, which sucks. My sister has a serious case of sadness (almost depression) because she misses Nick so much. But I wasn’t going to say that to him. I wanted Nick to think that she’s been holding up and waiting for him. Cinderella could do it, so why couldn’t my sister? She was a strong girl, because obviously she’s made it this far with Nick without breaking down completely. As soon as they reunited though, it would all change in a heartbeat. Love. I love love.
“Yeah” I sighed. “Go get your girl” And quickly. Hustle that booty, your girl’s waiting Nickyboy!
I pushed Nick out of my room and watched him approach my sister’s door. He knocked softly.
“Izabella?” I heard my sister ask, before I could hear her get up to get her door. She opened it....and jumped on Nick, literally bringing him to the ground. “NICK!!!” She screamed with delight and joy. I was really happy for her.
I smiled as I watched them hugging and kissing. And then when Nick asked her to join her on tour, she literally squealed. She was so excited. Big sister knows. “Got Me Goin’ Crazy” would fit perfectly into the playlist, and that made me pretty content.
I didn’t stick around long. I let them have their moment, and I went back to my room and turned on my iPod. I immediately decided to add “Got Me Goin’ Crazy” I knew this wouldn’t be the only addition to the playlist, because Ariella and Nick had a long time together in the future.
I opened the playlist ‘Nick/Ariella love story’ and added the song. Then I just looked at it. It was almost so cute that I could cry. But I guess that it was just me, because I was the big sister....and my baby sister was growing up. She was in love! Nothing beats love.
Ah, love. It’s a beautiful thing.
After I was done with my staring (it was getting weird after a while, so I decided to redeem myself), I switched it to my own playlist labeled ‘Joe/Izabella love story’

My playlist may not have been the longest, since A) me and Joe haven’t been together as long as Nick and Ariella have, and B) we’ve never been in a fight. We have been separated though. Obviously we are right now.
My love story, in a few words, was: the meeting, the love, the love, and the separation. I met Joe (yes, Joe Jonas – Nick’s brother) at a party, and yes, I was wearing a red dress. We fell in love right away, have been ever since, and then we got separated for a tour. But Nick and my sister have gone through that separation thing too, so it’s easy to relate these love stories together. Obviously, despite my older age, I haven’t been through as much as my sister in the love department. But it was still love. Love beats everything, remember? It always wins.
There was a knock on my door, which caused me to jump with a startle. I guess that ruined that moment. Good job Nick, you have the worst timing.
“Nick?” I asked the door. I was pretty sure it was him just coming to thank me again (he was always such a sweetie).
There was no answer. The door creaked open slowly, and an envelope was pushed inside. That’s weird...
I got up slowly to pick up the envelope. Enclosed inside was a sheet of notebook paper.
It said add “Got Me Goin’ Crazy” to our playlist too...
It didn’t take me long to figure out what that meant. Only one person, other than Nick, would know about my love story playlist. And that had to be....
JOE!
I ran to the door, swung it open, and jumped into the arms of my boyfriend Joseph Adam Jonas, who was standing right outside my door.
I’ll definitely be adding “Got Me Goin’ Crazy” to my playlist, because Joe definitely does have me going crazy.
This isn't as new as some of the other oneshots I post, but... eh, it’s kind of new. Let me know what you think?
