Four weddings, a funeral & a surprise.
Ashley
“Ashley I can’t believe it. Matter of fact I don’t believe it.”
The brunette girl laughs slightly before smiling sideways at her friend. Some would call them best friends but considering that there are three more girls in their circle of friends they don’t call each other best friends any more.
“Stephani I can’t believe your hair. It’s my wedding day and you show up with purple bangs?”
The younger girl blushes slightly and bites her lip.
“He likes them.”
“Stephani I don’t care if he thinks you look good naked. Which I don’t want to know if he’s seen you naked. It’s my wedding day, and you’re my maid of honor. You have to be kidding me.”
The younger girl looks at the ground her feet pointing inward under the hem of her floor length purple gown.
“It matches my dress?”
Ashley rolls her eyes as the other three brides maids walk into the room. The first one stops in her tracks and her mouth drops her blue eyes growing wide. The other two girls walk into her back and then they see why she stopped.
“What did you do to your hair Stephani?”
“Um. Nothing.”
“Nothing? Really now Steph. So your purple bangs they are natural?”
“Well no. But I didn’t do it.”
The four girls in the room look at Stephani with looks of disbelief. She was well known for updating her hair color more often than any of them could keep track of, having five changes within two months before. She bites her lip again and then looks at her friends.
“He did it. I mean I like it but I didn’t actually do it. He was just kind of just like ‘I think you’d look cute with purple bangs’ and I was like ‘okay.’ Sorry Ash.”
“We expect it from you Steph to be truthful. But my wedding day. You show up with purple hair. I don’t care what Frank says purple hair is not acceptable for a wedding.”
“Um…”
“I don’t like the sound of that um Stephanie.”
The second youngest girl in the room takes a deep breath before talking.
“I’m really sorry. I told Frank the only way I would dye my bangs purple was if he spiked the top of his hair purple.”
“Get out.”
Ashley points to the door and Stephani walks out of the room only to spot her boyfriend standing there.
“You got kicked out too?”
“Nick told me he was not going to admit we were family.”
“I suppose that’s what happens when you dye your hair and your girlfriends hair purple the day before the wedding.”
“You said it wasn’t gonna last long.”
“It’s not. But it will last a week or so. Most dyes do Frank unless they come out of a spray can.”
“I didn’t. Steph I didn’t realize that.”
“Good job but it does match my dress.”
“And my cumber bun.”
Stephani feels her boyfriends arms snake around her waist and she laughs slightly. It seemed odd, he was eight years younger than his next brother, the one in fact getting married, and she was about a year older than the same brother. There was a nine year age difference but when your twenty seven and eighteen it doesn’t seem like that bad of a deal, at least not until someone points it out. They had been dating for almost three years, just as long as any of the other couples, and while his parents didn’t like the idea in the beginning they soon understand it was okay.
“Stephani get your butt back in here!”
Stephani smiles and kisses the boys cheek before walking back to the room. Inside she spots Ashley pacing the room while the other girls all frown.
“Ash calm down, Nick loves you and you love Nick. You’ve been talking about this day for months now. It’s going to be perfect and it’s not going to be ruined because of some little purple bits of hair I promise. Everyone knows my hair is different, Frank’s is a different story but everyone knows me and knows I’ll change my hair a lot.”
The other girls all look slowly at Stephani who was staring back at Ashley wondering if she was going to answer her.
“It’s not that. I know it will be perfect no matter what. It’s just. I can’t believe it’s here. I’m marrying Nick finally. I can’t believe it. It seems like just yesterday I was shoving cake in his face at his birthday party the day we met and here we are.”
“That means your relationship is great Ash. You remember what is important and yes that is important. Don’t start freaking out on me now Ash. If you do I don’t know what will happen, because we all know you are insane.”
Ashley turns to glare at her friend then and she smiles.
“See that helped! But seriously Ash. I’ve never seen anyone look at someone the way Nick looks at you. It’s perfectly clear you’re his whole world and you look at him with that same twinkle in your eyes. The one that says I love you.”
The four other girls in the room all look at Stephani shocked as the girl laughs.
“Did you really think I was just hair dye inside? I mean seriously the way Nick looks at you Ash, I’m jealous. Because Frank doesn’t look at me like that. I can see the starts of the twinkles and hope that it means something but really it doesn’t. Frank loves me yea, but he loves music so much more. And I can be romantic by the way.”
“It’s not that but wow Steph that was shocking. But no we just you’re the girl who doesn’t show things and doesn’t say things so that was unexpected. I mean I remember telling you that your eyes glittered one day around Frank and you freaked out.”
The purple haired girl looks to the ground before looking back up.
“I don’t want him to know that he is my everything when I’m clearly not his. I just I can’t handle that. Not when there is so much that I know means more than me.”
“Stephanie Elizabeth are you really that blind to what is right in front of you. Frank loves you with all his heart. You might not see that twinkle or glitter but we do.”
“Okay new rule no making anyone in the bridal party cry before the wedding.”
The girls all laugh before Ren quickly cuts in speaking.
“Another new rule no dying your hair to match your dress the day before the wedding.”
Stephani lets out a soft laugh before smiling.
“Yea sorry.”
There is a knock on the door and it is opened to reveal Crystal’s younger brother, who was going to be walking Ashley down the isle.
“Another new rule! Ricky has to walk every single one of us down the isle, our dad’s can too but Ricky has too walk with us.”
The aforementioned boy groans looking at Stephani with distaste.
“I don’t like that plan Steph.”
“Live with it. My dad isn’t alive, and I don’t talk to my brothers, your like my little brother so your doing it.”
“You are my little brother and your doing it.”
Crystal states her arms crossed over the front of her purple gown. The boy shakes his head before telling the girls it’s time for that walk. The girls walk out all pairing up with their respective lovers and then start that walk down the isle. Finally comes Ashley and Ricky , tears forming in Ashley’s eyes as soon as she spots Nick standing at the end of the isle, his brothers by his side. Until she spots Frank whose hair was in fact purple at the top of his ‘fohawk’. She lets out a breath and shakes her head before smiling down the isle at Nick and starting the march.
Soon it’s time for the reception now a happily married Mr. & Mrs. Nick Jonas. The bridal party all make their way onto the dance floor as the Hoedown Throwdown, Ashley’s special request, starts to play. The five girls look at one another before going along with the dance a laugh emerging from Steph as she just moves to tape the other girls.
“NEW RULE! First dance as a group has got to be to this song!”
Stephani smiles as Crystal glares at the camera being shoved into her face.
“Your next," Stephani's eerie voice haunts before Crystal slams her hand into the camera and screaming cut.
