Ch. 18

I wanted to tell Joe's brothers with him, considering how much this would affect their lives, not just ours. But Joe insisted, and so there I was, sitting on the edge of the bed, TV blaring. My knee was bouncing up and down, over and over. Joe had been gone for about fifteen minutes, when the door busted open, and I saw a curly head storming towards me.
"Aves." Kevin wrapped his arms around my shoulders and pulled me towards him. I felt the presence of brother, as he stroked my hair.
"Everything's going to be okay, I promise." I pulled away, wiping the tears from my eyes.
"But your, your not mad?" I hated crying. I hated my stinking hormones. I hated standing in front of Kevin Jonas in my rubber ducky pajamas, blubbering like an idiot.
"Mad?" Kevin's eyes nearly bugged out of his head. "No,no, we're going to handle Disney as well as possible, and we'll have to take some time off, but-" He grinned "That just gives me more time with Dani." I smiled and hugged him again. Than the door opened again, and Nick walked in, throwing himself ontop of us.

Later, after I'd changed out of my pajamas and put on something decent, Joe and I made plans with the Jonases. They only had a week left on the Europe leg of the tour, and than we were going to go back to Texas, and get married there. Joe and I would get a weekend for honeymoon, and than I was going to go back to school, just in time for the new marking period, and Joe would go back to tour, back in time for the eighth month. Joe and Mr. Jonas and the brothers had to leave right after we'd picked the date for the wedding, leaving me and Mrs. Jonas alone in her hotel room.
"Now, dear, where do want the wedding to take place?" She didn't waste time, now did she?

Three hours later,I found myself blinking in the bright lights of London, Mrs. Jonas at my one arm,and Danielle at the other. We'd quickly decided that we would be going to the ranch in three days, leaving the boys to finish the tour, so we could plan the wedding. Yea, we had 7 days to plan a wedding, 3 of those days being on the other side of the world. Mrs. Jonas had than called Dani, and she knew exactly what to do first, after having done it a couple months before. So here I was, being pushed into probably one of the fanciest dress stores in the world. Dani and Mrs. Jonas were sat down and I was stumbling into the back, the "dress consultant" asking me what I had in mind.
"Ummm, I, I, don't know. It definitely should be white." The lady just blinked.
"Okay! This will be so much fun!" She clapped her hands twice. Oh god.
After 17 discarded dresses, most of them making me look like a poodle or a cupcake, or worst of all a poodle eating a cupcake, we had no dress.
"Why don't you come back another day?" The lady offered.
"No, No, we have to do it today." Mrs. Jonas snapped, rubbing her temples.
"Here, why don't I help?" Dani got up off the couch she'd been sitting on, and we both went into the back, the dress lady trailing at our heels. The storeroom was double the size of my high school gym, with racks and racks of whit dresses, covering the floor, the walls, even a few hung from the ceiling. After a few minutes, "Try this on!" Dani handed me a white silk dress, beads covering the neckline, and the skirt poofed out a little, but not too much. I tiredly found my way into the dressing room., the store lady zipping me up. I exhaled when I looked into the mirror, it was perfect. And finally, making my way from the cramped dressing room too where Dani and Mrs. Jonas sat, I felt like a princess.

Ch. 19

"I love you." My hands were currently wrapped up in Joe's curls, our noses pressed together. Mrs. Jonas had decided we needed absolutely to go to Texas the very next day, instead of waiting two more days. Danielle was coming with us, and she and Kevin were wrapped up in their own goodbyes in the opposite corner of the room. They would be joining us in six days, two days before the wedding. It wasn't that long, but apparently the longest Dani and Kevin had been away from each other since they'd gotten married was 26 hours and this was very traumatizing. We'd been in London two days, and the boys were going into their bus, off to Scotland while us girls sped away in a taxi to the airport. Oh the tragedy! Yeah, Joe and I had mocked Kevin a little bit, since last night when this was decided. Joe kissed me on the forehead, and grinned as he walked up the steps of the bus, Kevin trudging his feet and head down low, right behind him.

We had to take the seven hour flight to DC, than the three hour to Houston. And than the four hour bus ride to Hanover, 14 hours of travel. It was 9:00 Texas time when the rickety bus pulled into the parking lot on the edge of town. Mrs. Jonas, quite used to travel like this, was wide eyed, as Dani and I slumped around, puddles of drool dotting our shirts. Daddy was sitting on the hood of his car, Rangers hat plunked on his head. I smiled as I got closer and threw my arms around him, giving him a hug. I pulled back, and tiredly brushed a piece of hair out of my face.
"Daddy, this is Mrs. Jonas, Joe's mom." Dad gave her the once over, than grinned and stuck out his hand.
"Pleasure to meet you, Mrs. Jonas."

"You say there's only two churches in town?" Mrs. Jonas had woken us up bright and early the next morning, to plan the wedding, and now Danielle, Dad, and I were sat at the kitchen table. My dad nodded.
"Well, I guess, we're just going to have to call them. I'll name drop, considering how badly you want a church wedding dear." Mrs. Jonas smiled at me, and I gave her a weak grin.
"Danielle, honey, would you mind calling the church? We need to work on the guest list." Danielle's head snapped up, and she gazed mindlessly at Mrs. Jonas for a second.
"Phone, right." Danielle got up, yawning, her pajama bottoms dragging on the floor as she took the phone and piece of paper with the wedding information on it. Once she was gone, Mrs. Jonas quickly opened up her black binder, and pulled out a clean piece of notebook paper.
"Okay, dear, so we are thinking small correct? With their only being a couple of days?" I nodded, slurping my coffee as I said so.
"Allright, so let's try and get a number." She glanced up at me and Dad. I looked at Dad, and he just stared stupidly back at me. I looked back at Mrs. Jonas.
"Okay." She sighed, rubbing her temples. I watched as she scribbled down name, after name, commenting once in awhile.

An hour later, I found myself on the phone with my 'friends' from work, practically begging fro them to be my bridesmaids. Joe, the popular person that he was, wanted five ushers and a best man, leaving me with having to come up with SIX GIRL friends. I immediately wrote down Sherry, Kelly, and Rhonda, my brother's wives, and than paused for a minute biting down on my pen. Than, after Mrs. Jonas said "What about your friends dear?" She had probably realized that I had only about five names on my guest list that weren't related to me, one of them my ex-boyfriend, and the other four his friends, I had sometimes hung out with.
"Well, umm, I guess I have some friends from Chicago." Mrs. Jonas smiled, obviously relieved that her future daughter-in-law wasn't a complete social reject.
"But we're going to have to handle like plane rides and stuff, they're going to have to miss work."
"Don't worry about it dear, tell them it's all taken care of."

So that's how I found myself on an awkward phone call with Sarah and Hannah, the waitresses at Olive Garden. First, they wanted to know why I had disappeared, and I used the "Joe wanted to get married soon" excuse, and finally swayed them with a free paid vacation, and a chance to meet a Jonas. Than, I called Remy. Remy worked at Petsmart with me on the weekends, and I'd been closer to her than any other girl, which wasn't saying much. She was one of those girls, that was super nice to everyone, and opened up to people right away, who had about a million best friends, and was always looked on the bright side. So, I guess you could call her an insta-friend.
"Hello?"
"Hey, umm Remy? It's Ava. You know from work?"
"Oh hey Ava! Have you been sick? You haven't been at work the past couple of weeks."
"Oh no, I haven't been sick, I ummm." I was just about to use my "quick wedding" excuse when I felt the overwhelming urge to tell her the truth.
"I found out I was pregnant." I heard her mind whizzing on the other line.
"Oh, I'm so sorry. Is there anything I can do?" I took a deep breath.
"Well, umm, actually, Joe and I are getting married on Friday."
"Oh congratulations! That's fantastic Ava!" Oh just do it now, I thought to myself, heart pounding.
"Thanks. Well, um, listen, I know we don't know each other that well, but I was never exactly popular, and I need a maid of honor. Would you umm be mine?" I bit my lip, and closed my eyes waiting for the blow.
"Of course I would Ava! I've never been in a wedding before! This will be so much fun!" After thanking her and telling her about where the wedding would be,and promising to email her her flight details, I hung up. Just than, as I sat on my old bed, staring up at my poster of Mia Hamm on the opposite wall, Dani burst in. Our first choice of church would take us, on Friday at 4:00. After jumping up and down with her, reality set in. It was noon on Saturday. I'd be getting married Friday.
