So here is the sequel! After six weeks of school and vacation we are back with a continuation about the lives of Joe, Aisling, Brittany, Kevin, and the rest of the Jonas clan.

Here is a link to the previous story called, "Who are you really teaching?"

Without further ado, Chapter 1 of Lesson's Left To Learn

The Jonas Brothers World Tour had ended almost four months ago. Brittany and Kevin were in the middle of planning their wedding. It was coming together very quickly and the wedding ceremony was only six weeks away. Final touches were currently being put on the wedding party attire.

Joe hadn’t seen Aisling once in the four months since she left so unexpectedly the last week of tour. It wasn’t for lack of trying. He had tried to find her-it was the opposite. He searched high and low for any sign of her but it seemed that she had completely disappeared. It was his goal to win her back. Joe knew that Brittany knew where Aisling was hiding but she wouldn’t tell him no matter what he tried to bribe her with. He was unsure whether or not Kevin knew but the man was so stressed out from all the wedding planning that Joe didn’t want to invoke the eldest Jonas’s anger by asking.

Today, Brittany had arranged for all the groomsmen to get the final fitting on their tuxes for the wedding while the bridesmaids tried on their dresses on the opposite end of the shop. Joe’s idea was to sneak into the bridesmaid fittings and corner Aisling.

Her disappearance was still a mystery to him. He didn’t understand what he had done wrong? Brittany had told him that it wasn’t anything he had done but Joe was still unsure.

He walked into the Dress-Tux shop at 2:55pm. Brittany warned him that being late would have dire consequences and he didn’t need another reason for her to give him another butt kicking. He saw Kevin pacing at the side of the store while Nick looked on amusedly. As soon as Kevin saw Joe, he rushed over and grabbed his shoulder, propelling Joe toward where Nick was sitting.

“What’s wrong, Kev?” Joe asked, not really sure why Kevin was freaking out.

“Joe, thank god you’re here,” Kevin exclaimed, “I need you to do me a favor.”

“Depends on what the favor is,” Joe replied, not giving into whatever scheme Kevin was trying to pull him into.

“As my best man, you should be willing to do anything for me,” Kevin answered back.

“Dude, have you been reading Bridal magazines? You sound like Patrick Dempsey in Made of Honor,” Joe snapped back.

“Shut up Joseph. If you can’t do me this one simple little favor then I’m firing you and asking Nick to be my Best Man,” Kevin yelled back.

Joe grinned at his older brother. Oh how he loved riling Kevin up.

“Relax Kev. What do you need me to do?” Joe asked.

“He doesn’t need anything,” Nick piped up, “he just wants to talk to Brittany about something but she wont let him see her in her dress before the wedding.”

“Anyway,” Kevin cut back in, “I need you to tie this tie around my eyes so I cant see then lead me to the bridal section so I can talk to Britt without seeing her.”

“Oh that sounds like a stellar plan,” Joe replied sarcastically.

In return, Kevin punched his younger brother in the arm.

“Ow! Fine, give me the blindfold and I’ll walk you over,” Joe answered.

Kevin handed his brother possibly the ugliest tie imaginable but Joe refrained from commenting on it as he tied it around Kevin’s curly head. Once the tie was secure, Joe led Kevin through the doors into the bridal section.

“Blind groom coming through,” Joe called out to alert the girls that there were men in the room.

“Kevin Jonas, if you peek and see me in this dress, I swear to god I won’t marry you,” Brittany yelled out through one of the dressing rooms.

“Don’t worry, Britt. I’ll make sure he doesn’t peek,” Joe replied, looking around hoping to spot Aisling in the fray of women.

Brittany’s POV

“Blind groom coming in,” Joe called out.

Aisling turned to Britt with a look of panic on her face. Brittany motioned for Aisling to go hide in a rack of dresses.

“Kevin Jonas, if you peek and see me in this dress, I swear to god I won’t marry you,” Brittany called out as Aisling hid.

“Don’t worry, Britt. I’ll make sure he doesn’t peek,” Joe called back.

“I’m taking you at your word Joseph Jonas. Give me five minutes to finish getting dressed then you two can come in.

“Britt!” Aisling hissed from inside the clothes rack, “You can’t let him see me.”

Brittany rolled her eyes at her friend, “Aisling, don’t worry. I’m not going to let him see you. You go hide and I’ll distract the two of them with my beauty. Well, I’ll distract one of them. The other better have something over his eyes. Kevin probably just wants help with a decision about wedding crap.”

“Should you really be calling it wedding crap?” Aisling asked as she hid even deeper in the racks of dresses in the changing room.

“Kevin has turned into quite the groomzilla,” Brittany replied back, “WAIT! I need you to come zip up the back of this dress.”

“Britt, are you serious?” Aisling whined, “I’m already three racks of dresses back.”

“Just come do it, then hide in one of the other dressing rooms. That way you can hear what we are talking about,” Brittany commented back, not caring that Aisling was climbing out of the dresses.

When Aisling was out of the dresses, she quickly walked over and zipped up the back of Brittany’s strapless gown. Once she was done, she practically ran back into one of the dressing rooms and locked the door.

“Okay, Joe. You can bring him in,” Brittany called out once she was sure that Aisling was thoroughly hidden.

Joe walked in, pulling Kevin behind him and his eyes widened at the sight in front of him. His jaw dropped him shock. The dress fit perfectly, hugging every curve that Brittany’s long body had and Joe knew Kevin was going to have a heart attack when he saw her.

“Wow” was all Joe said.

“What?” Kevin asked.

“You are one lucky man, bro. If Britt wasn’t completely in love with you I would try to steal her away just so she could wear this wedding dress for me,” Joe answered in a joking tone.

“Dude, are you trying to pick up my wife right in front of me? Seriously Joe?” Kevin questioned his younger brother.

“Yeah, that’s exactly what I’m trying to do,” Joe said rolling his eyes as Brittany laughed.

“What?” Kevin seethed.

“You dolt,” Joe groaned, hitting Kevin in the shoulder as pay back for Kevin’s earlier hit, “Britt looks gorgeous in her wedding dress.”

“Britt?” Kevin asked, wincing in pain after Joe’s strike to his right shoulder. Turning around, he told Joe, “You might want to leave the room for a minute.”

“You threatened my best man duty just so you could have a booty call?” Joe asked incredulously.

“No, but I am going to kiss the love of my life and I don’t want you here to interrupt us,” Kevin retorted.

“That’s messed up,” Joe pouted, leaving the room with a huff.

Once Joe was out of the room, Brittany muttered, “What a drama king.”

“Brittany.” Kevin warned, “At least he’s acting human again. Mom thought we were going to have to admit him to a mental hospital if he didn’t snap out of the funk he was in. He still has nightmares and screams out Aisling’s name at night but when we ask him about it in the morning all he says is that ‘I dream that I’m singing to Ais and then she just vanishes.’”

“I know he’s still hurting Kevin but believe me when I say that Aisling is hurting too. More than you’ll ever know,” Brittany responded, wrapping her arms around Kevin’s neck. His arms automatically grasped her waist pulling her closer.

Kevin sighed, pressing his forehead in the general direction he thought hers might be in. Brittany moved her head slightly so that his would rest against hers.

“I just wish you would tell me what happened so I could at least put Joe’s mind at ease,” Kevin mutter, knowing this very well could start a bad argument.

Groaning softly, Brittany responded, “You have no idea how hard it is for me to keep this from you but I made a promise and I don’t dare break it. You of all people should know about trust and keeping promises.”

“Okay,” Kevin said relenting for now, “but when we’re married there won’t be any more secret keeping.”

“Deal Mr. Jonas,” Brittany replied, rising up on her toes to press her lips lightly against his.

“Now what is the real reason you came over here?” Brittany asked, pulling away from the kiss.

“Oh, I just wanted to know if you would like to go house browsing this afternoon. Nick looked online at a variety of different properties and wants us to go look at them,” Kevin replied, trying to pull Britt back into an embrace.

She alluded him, dress and all, to say, “Sure but right now you need to leave because Aisling will be here any minute and it wouldn’t be good for Joe to see her right now.

“She knows that she’ll have to see Joe at the wedding right?”

“Yes, and she’s prepared to see him then but not before,” Brittany said, pushing Kevin in the direction of the door.

Kevin reached out to open the door, pulling it open slightly before turning around and asking, “Tell me one thing, Britt. It’s the least you can do.”

“Fine, I’ll try to answer.”

“Did she cheat on him and is there another man in her life?” Kevin asked earnestly, knowing Joe would be able to hear the whole conversation.

“No,” Brittany responded emphatically.

“No?” Kevin questioned, not pleased with the vague answer.

“No she did not cheat on him and No there is not another man in her life. She is still very much in love with Joe and I hope they can get back together eventually.”

“Okay. Thanks B. I love you,” Kevin replied, “Oh meet me outside when you’re done with the fittings and we’ll go house shopping.”

“Kevin, seriously. Go before your mother comes in and finds you in here,” Brittany said, giving him one more heave out the door.

Closing the door in Kevin and Joe’s face, Brittany quickly walked back to the dressing area. Pushing aside the clothes out of her way, she asked, “Aisling. Where are you?’

A sniffle was the only response she received. Brittany pushed past one more rack of dresses and found Aisling curled up in a little ball, hands around her stomach, crying her eyes out.

“Oh Ais,” Brittany murmured before pulling the other girl into her arms.

“Britt, you didn’t tell me that it was so bad,” Aisling cried into Brittany’s shoulder, “You never said he was so depressed that they considered throwing him into a mental facility.”

“Aisling, you need to stop crying,” Brittany tired to comfort her distraught friend, “You know its not good for you to cry.”

“Shut up, Brittany,” Aisling snapped back, “I don’t need you telling me what’s good and bad for me.”

“Fine. But you need to make a decision about Joe. You know you’ll have to see him for all the rehearsals and dinners that we have planned. Plus you have to walk back up the isle with him. He’s going to figure it out and when he does, well…” Brittany trailed off.

Aisling sat up and sighed, “I know Britt, but if this gets out it could ruin the band. I’m trying to not even think about what will happen when Joe finds out.”

“Aisling, I love you like you were my own sister and I will always support whatever decision you make, I just want you to know that.”

“Oh Brittany, you heard Kevin. He’s not happy that you are hiding something from him,” Aisling cried back, once again upset that her problem was causing friction between Brittany and Kevin right before their wedding.

“You leave Kevin to me. You just worry about yourself and staying healthy.”

At Aisling’s unsure look, Brittany affirmed, “Seriously, this is nothing compared to some of the rows me and Kevin have had. He is just worried about Joe and thinks by getting the answers he will somehow be able to help Joe. He is completely delusional but I love him anyway.”

“Girls?” A voice called out from the main changing area.

“We’re in here, Denise,” Brittany called out, slowly standing up as to not damage her dress any further. She held out a hand for Aisling to take. And pulled her up. Aisling quickly wiped the tears from her face to hide the evidence of her sadness from her ex-boyfriends mother.

This would be the first time in nearly three months that Aisling would see Denise. Right after the tour finished, Denise had called Aisling and asked if they could meet for lunch. Reluctantly agreeing, Ais met with Denise and told her the plans she had made. Denise had never asked about her reasons for breaking up with Joe and for that, Aisling was eternally grateful. She had more than enough prying fans coming up to her and asking her what happened. Apparently, most of the fan girls had supported Josling.

Aisling told Denise that she was renting an apartment just outside the city where she was planning to substitute teach for the rest of the year before trying to find a more permanent job. She had decided against moving back home to Ireland and there was no point in moving back to Seattle without Brittany. Plus, she wanted to stay close to help plan the wedding. At the end of their lunch, Denise had given Aisling a big and wished her well. The look in Denise’s eye told her that she suspected something different but let it drop for the moment.

Occasionally in the past three months, Denise had called to check in on how Aisling was doing but never asked to see her in person. Aisling had been dying to ask how Joe was doing but felt it might be a bit inappropriate.

Once Ais had composed herself, they walked out into the main area to greet the mother of the groom. Upon seeing Brittany in the dress, Denise held her hands up to her face and smiled, “Oh Brittany. If your mother were here she would be so so so proud of you.”

Throwing her arms around Denise, Brittany pulled her into a big hug. Brittany’s family had died in a car accident two years before she met Kevin. He had helped her overcome the grief and the Jonas family had become her second family.

Aisling watched the two and hoped that one day she would be the bride that Denise was holding. When Denise let go of Brittany she turned to give Aisling a quick hug.

“How are you doing, my dear?”

“I’m doing fine, Mrs. Jonas.”

“None of this Mrs. Jonas crap,” Denise, replied, “Aisling, I don’t want things to be weird between us. I know deep in my heart that you and Joe are meant to be and that one-day you WILL get back together with my son. In fact, one day I plan to help you and Joseph plan your wedding. I have faith that you will be able to work things out.”

Aisling was now too worked up to say anything in response. Tears were now freely falling down her cheeks. Before Brittany could even take a step towards her, Denise was pulling Aisling back into her arms comforting her in way that only mothers were capable of.

“I’m so sorry,” Aisling blubbered. She was so upset that she was losing control of her breathing.

“Aisling, there is nothing to be sorry about,” Denise soothed, “Whenever you are ready to tell Joe the real reason you left, he’ll listen. He will hear you out before making a decision. He loves you, Aisling. More than I thought he could ever love a girl. We love you too. Please don’t hide from us anymore. C’mon let’s get you out of here.”

Denise wrapped her arm around Aisling’s shoulder and let her out of the bridal section. Unfortunately, that meant walking right in front of where the Jonas boys were trying on their tuxedoes. The three boys were all dressed to the nines, but Aisling’s eyes automatically sought out her boy. Kevin and Nick had noticed the females passing by and gave small waves while starring incredulously.

Joe had yet to look up and notice them. Suddenly, he looked into the mirror and saw the reflection of his girl staring back at him with signs of distraught all over her face. He was too stunned to move or even look away from the mirror. By the time he turned around she was gone.

“Aising,” Joe yelled, running out to the street in his tux. But he was too late. By the time he got to the road, Aising and Denise were nowhere to be seen.
