Ch. 2
Ch. 2
Two weeks passed a lot slower than I would've liked, but eventually, Friday came. Kirsten and and I bounded down the steps of the bus, waving cheerily as the bus driver passed by. The instant the yellow bus was out of sight, we both turned around at the same time. "A whole week of freedom!" I shrieked as we both jumped up and down, our backpacks laying discarded on the ground. After a minute, we finally gained our composure, realizing we were the cool sophmores we were and picked our backpacks back up, starting to Kirsten's house. We passed my house, a tiny 2 bedroom converted garage, took a left, and soon were on Kirsten's street. "Remind me again why I haven't met these cousins?" It was a well known fact that I was like an honorary member of the Thomas family. I went to church with them, ate dinner there almost every night, had a drawer full of clothes and spent three or four nights there a week. Heck, I'd even been to her Uncle's wedding in Virginia. It was highly suspicious to me that I'd never met them. KIrsten sighed, and rolled her eyes. "They're in a band, they were super busy before, Nick was in a lot of broadway stuff when he was young, and they're back and forth between California a lot." I nodded, and then we were in front of the house. An van with New Jersey tags was parked in the driveway, a couple of strides and Kirsten was swinging the door open. The house was noisier then normal, and Mrs. Thomas was standing at the counter, along with a woman I didn't recognize and a bunch of kids. "Girl! How was your day?" Mrs. Thomas walked around the edge of the counter, pulling Kirsten then me to a tight hug. When Mrs. Thomas finally let go, the boys were still in front of the counter, the middle one shoving cookies in his mouth. "Hey Kirs." The one with short thick hair and an Ed Hardy shirt on smiled warmly and hugged Kirsten. "Hey Kevin! This is my best friend slash sister Judith." Kevin smiled at me, than extended his hand. "I'm Kevin." I shook it, and than the piggish guy stood up brushing cookie crumbs off his shirt. "I'm Joe." He stuck out his hand and grinned at me. Oh my god, was he beautiful. He grinned at me, his perfectly white teeth gleaming. "Judith." I finally let go of his hand and backed away, unwillingly ripping my eyes off of him. Then, the youngest one, with a baby face and loose curls stepped forward. "Nick." His voice started off low, than squeaked a couple of times. I tried not to laugh, while Kevin and Joe went into full on hysteria behind me.He glared at them, and good ole' Kirsten rescued me. "You guys wanna go up to my room?" They all nodded, and I grabbed my backpack from where I had left it on the kitchen floor. Kirsten, Nick, and Kevin ran fats up the stairs leaving me and Joe behind. "That looks heavy." Joe raised a thick eyebrow and snatched it off my back, as I started climbing the stairs. "Thanks." I smiled at him, and he grinned back, melting my heart. I tried to seem totally natural and cool as I pushed open Kirsten's door, second door on the left. The door opened, and I could see Kevin and Nick sitting on Kirsten's bed, but then all I could see was the plush carpet underneath my feet. "Uggghhhhh." The soft tinkling of laughter entered my ears, and a strong hand grabbed me and lifted me up. Joe. Kirsten was doubled over, and Joe's eyes were twinkling, but to his credit he didn't laugh. "That suitcase was not there yesterday." The laughing became harder. Kirsten straightened up, brushing tears from her eyes. "That's because the Jonases weren't here yesterday." I rolled my eyes, and brushed past her, grabbing my iPod out of my backpack and placing it in KIrsten's dock. I turned it to shuffle, than turned back around. "Oh I love this song!" Joe jumped up from the suitcase he was sitting on and grabbed my hands. He twirled me around, shifting back and forth from side to side. "Nah Nah Nah Nah." We both belted out, smiling at each other as we danced from side to side, everyone else watching on. "Hey Jude, don't let me down." I could practically see the lightbulb flash in Joe's head. "I'm calling you Jude from now on." He flashed me that grin, and all I could do was nod.
