Hey girls! Here is new Joe/Nick joint by yours truly and the fabulous Crystal! :D We hope you very much enjoy this.
Prologue:
“Yes…Most assuredly….Yes….Monday at ten sounds great. Thank you very much sir. Yes. Goodbye.” Melanie shut her phone quickly, hurrying as fast as she could to her car. It took all she had not to squeal with excitement as she shut her door, starting the car. This was the big break JC had been waiting for. And ever since she’d heard them singing in that hair salon over a year ago Melanie knew that Jessica and Crystal could be great. After countless gigs at local talent shows and dance clubs, those two were finally getting the opportunity they deserved, and Melanie wanted to tell them as soon as possible.
Jessica and Crystal. Two girls. 19 years old. Best friends. 2 years ago, at the Texas State Fair, these two girls walked into the arena where the Jonas Brothers would be playing. Both of their families moving onto different things, not caring one bit about the concert scheduled for three that afternoon. They were both alone, not knowing a single person, but were determined to stay for their boys. Those 3 boys who had helped each of them through difficult times. They could care less that they were alone. They could care less that girls all around them were passing out from heat exhaustion. They could care less that they were as far as they could be from the stage. All these two girls cared about were seeing those boys, hearing their beautiful voices bring powerful lyrics to life, knowing in their hearts that one day they would do that. Would pour their hearts and souls out for thousands of people to be touched. It was the only dream they’d ever had. And all of the sudden, in the midst of all the jumping and screaming, both girls rammed into each other, hard. Jessica hit her head on Crystal’s so hard it started to bleed, a stream of blood gliding down her face.
“Oh my God, we have to go get First Aid.” Crystal cried, pulling Jessica up and away from the crowd. As much as she didn’t want to leave, Crystal felt responsible for hurting her. But Jessica yanked back her arm, so much it sent Crystal flying on the ground, a tin can leaving a jagged cut on her arm. As she stood up, Jessica rushed over.
“I’m so sorry.” She said, “But I just can’t leave.” She motioned to the stage, where those three Jonas boys were still singing as hard as they could. “They’re just amazing.”
“I know what you mean,” Crystal said, sighing as Joe belted out the last ‘Hold On.’ Both girls slowly looked away from the stage to each other, each a bloody mess. Jessica’s face was half covered with a thin layer of blood, and Crystal’s arm had a piece of metal still sticking out of it, blood all over her pants. It really was quite gory. After one second, they both burst out laughing, each grasping the other for support. After singing every lyric the Jonas Brothers played, still laughing ever so often at the hilariousness of it all, they walked together to First Aid. After another laughing fit from the reaction of the woman in First Aid, they both began to talk. About everything, where they were from(both in Austin, Texas), what they liked(the Jonas Brothers), what they loved(the Jonas Brothers), and their dream(music). After twenty minutes, they were inseperable. It’s so rare you find someone so alike as yourself, yet so completely different. It was like they’d found that sister they’d never had. And it was all thanks to those wonderful boys, the Jonas Brothers.
After a while, the girls began to write songs. All the time. Along with their love for that, the girls adored their instruments. Jessica on piano, Crystal on guitar. Not long after, they’d given themselves a name, JC. Whenever anyone asked what it stood for, they just said that it was whatever that person wanted it to stand for, point blank. The girls knew, though, that they were in need of a bassist and drummer. Luckily they were able to find Derek and Lucas, who were both talented musicians and got along with the girls very well.
After months of goofing off, waiting for the day their lives would change, it came. Singing one of their songs in a hair salon, playing around while getting their hair cut, the women cutting their hair threatening to stab them if they didn’t keep still, Melanie came into the picture. Just like that. She turned around, her hair finished, and walked over to them.
“My name is Melanie,” she said politely, pulling out a business card, “I saw you two the other day at Macy’s Music…” A week before Jess and Crystal had set up shop in a music store, playing and singing one of their songs. The manager let them come in whenever they wanted, as long as their playing didn’t siturb the other customers. Melanie thought they were good but didn’t think anything of it until the next time she ran into the girls.
A few weeks after enjoying their impromptu musical show in the store, she noticed both girls in the hair salon. “If you two ever want to go somewhere in music, give me a call. I know true talent when I see it.” And she walked out, leaving two dumbfounded girls sitting with their mouths wide open, not believing what just happened.
Once she approached them and offered to manage the girls, they accepted a day later after the whole band played for Melanie.
Melanie was like an older sister or a mother figure for the girls and the boys. She looked out for their best interests when she considered what gigs to book for them. She made sure to mingle with any music execs or personal that were in the crowds of the little shows JC had played. And after a year of trying, Melanie had finally gotten these girls what they’d been waiting for. A shot. A big shot. She drove up to their apartment building, walking straight up to their apartment. She knocked as loud as she could, though the music was deafening. Looking at her watch she sighed, it was too late for her to be here, she should be at home with her husband, sleeping. But this was far too important to wait until morning. After knocking a few more times, she took out the key she had for emergencies and opened the door, walking straight to the stereo and turning it off.
“TONIIIIIIIGHT!” Jessica belted at the top of her lungs, sliding on her knees through the kitchen, her duck pajama pants worn down at the knees from that very thing.
“No we’re not gonna work this ou….” Crystal came dancing into sight, singing loudly, not even noticing the music had stopped playing, and not noticing Jessica on the floor. One step too far and she toppled onto Jessica. They both started laughing, an occasional snort coming from Jessica. Melanie cleared her throat, and both girls looked at her, noticing for the first time the music was gone. Melanie clapped her hands together, smiling wide.
“Girls,” and she didn’t get farther than that.
“Oh my goodness Mel, you have to hear this song we wrote!” Crystal exclaimed, running to her guitar on the couch. “After a while of just messing around we stumbled upon a start to a fantastic song!” Melanie rolled her eyes.
“Girls, I got you an audition. I just spoke with…” Jess and Crystal rolled their eyes. “Why aren’t you excited?” Melanie asked, crossing her arms. Jessica lifted herself from the floor and stood up, pouring herself a glass of milk in the kitchen.
“Because we don’t care about playing another stupid club.” She said, chugging the milk. Crystal nodded.
“Is this really all we are going to do?” Crystal said, strumming a few chords on her guitar. Melanie sighed.
“Girls, as I was saying, I got you an audition Monday for an opening act on tour this summer. I just spoke with Mr. Jonas…” Jessica spit milk all over the kitchen, eyes wide, just as Crystal fell off of the couch. Melanie smiled, now she had their attention. “Crystal, Jessica, get practicing, because in three days you have an audition to be the opening act for the Jonas Brothers.”
