Please Don’t Tell Me, It’s The End Of The Story.
--Honor Society
“Yes, yes” I said into my cell phone. I was never really off work, as they could call me whenever they wanted for whatever reason they needed. The perk of working for a multi-million dollar company, ‘Flash’ magazine was our Canadian version of ‘Popstar’ or ‘J-14’. Basically I was a magazine for teens obsessing over the hottest stars of today.
Some would say I was lucky to be assisting with the wardrobe at twenty-one. That wasn’t exactly my opinion, it made good money and I got to meet a lot of very influential people sure, but it wasn’t my plan. When I moved from my small town to Toronto, it was to be in the fashion industry. Not assisting in the industry.
I loved putting together outfits and mixing and matching. I wasn’t experienced, so they put me as an assistant, but they knew I was good, I assumed they were too scared to put all their faith in me.
Placing the new set of coffees on the office desk I made my way into the room where they were setting up for a photo shoot. Steenie was toying with the props and moving them around. I laughed and she looked up at me “Got a problem Johnson?” she said sarcastically
I shook my head “No, but what are you doing, you don’t work here” I waited for an answer; she rolled her eyes “Right, it doesn’t matter, what does, is how did you get in?”
“Oh, technicalities” she smiled, I tapped my foot so she continued “Identification”
Sometimes this girl shocked me; she could pull of something like sneaking into a guarded building easy. She set down one of the microphones that were set up. Accidentally knocking over a vase of flowers behind her, she quickly picked it up and put it back as it nothing had happened.
My phone went off again and I checked the caller id, and then slid my phone back in my bag. “Boston?” Steenie asked.
I nodded “Whatever, but you’ll never guess who I met today” I smiled, I used what I could to not talked about him, it just so happens that today I had the best way to avoid it. Steenie stared at me waiting for an answer “You didn’t guess, but anyways, I met Kevin Jonas”
Then Steenie started freaking out. She was the fan, actually if it weren’t for her I wouldn’t have known about him at all. “Explain, please.” She squealed.
I led her to some chairs off to the side and launched into my story about what happened at Starbucks, spilling the coffee and all.
Then my phone went off yet again, this time Steenie grabbed it and answered before I had the chance. “Hello?” she said, someone said something on the other end then she replied “Boston, this is Steenie, Emily is right here, hold on I’ll give the phone to her”
I glared at Steenie but took the phone “What do you want?!” I exclaimed “well besides the heart that you already took and stomped on” I spat. The line was silent except for his breathing, and then he hung up. I threw my phone back into my purse and turned to Steenie. “How dare you!”
She backed away “Sorry Em, but hun, if you’re ever going to get over him... you need to talk to him” she whispered
‘Or find someone else, someone better’ I thought to myself, and then I thought of nice, sweet, and funny coffee drinking Kevin Jonas.
