Chapter 5
Aimee still couldn't believe that the Kevin Jonas was standing on the doorstep of her parents' house. Of all the people to find Daphne... Aimee had been quite a big fan of the Jonas Brothers for a while now, especially Kevin. Of course, she had both of their cds in her car and listened to them daily. Aimee had spaced out a little again until a bark from Daphne switched her back.
"So, if you don't mind me asking, what brings you down here?" Aimee said petting Daphne's small head.
"Interview, fun," he said plainly. He rolled his eyes at the thought and smiled.
"Ah, so that's it. Joe always tries to make it fun it seems like. That kid is hilarious," Aimee said laughing.
"Yeah, that's my brother for you. My family thinks he's from another planet most of the time," Kevin said laughing also. Suddenly, Kevin's phone began to ring loudly.
"Ugh, speaking of Joe," he said pressing the ignore button on his phone, "I guess that means I have to get. It was really nice meeting you Aimee. Take care of Daphne!"
"Wait!" Aimee said stepping out on to the porch with the door still wide open behind her. Kevin whipped around.
"Yes?" he said. He was halfway down the sidewalk when he stopped.
Aimee walked down the other half of the sidewalk to meet him. "Is there any way I can repay you? Really, I feel like I need to. Is there anything I can do?" she said pleadingly.
Kevin thought on it for a few seconds before answering. "Well, I can let you do one thing for me," he said slyly.
"And that would be?" Aimee said curiously searching his expression for a clue.
"May I have your phone number?" he said grinning from how clever he thought he was.
Aimee giggled. "Don't you already have it? I mean, it was on the flyer you know," she said.
"Oh, you're right," he said thinking of another way she could repay him, "Well, then, May I see you again?"
Aimee's heart was dancing around like there was no tomorrow now. "Yeah, sure, I mean, yes, you may. When?" She was surprised she didn't scream her answer at him.
"Um, I'll call you, ok? Bye Aimee," he said with a little of his hair falling into his face as he walked off to his car, waving.
"Bye," Aimee squealed a bit, waving too.
She walked back inside, closed the door, and stood in the doorway for a minute with Daphne still in her arms. She made sure he was gone before she started jumping up and down like a little kid getting a new bike. What could happen next?, she thought happily.
