CHAPTER 2
Although Lindsay wasn’t ready to introduce Kelsey to Nick she had no other choice. She took a deep breath and went in. Fortunately, Kelsey wasn’t there yet. Lindsay found a seat and sat down. Nick sat next to her.
“Is this alright?” he asked with a breath-taking smile.
“Absolutely,” Lindsay answered losing herself in his smile.
“Lindsay!” Kelsey said from the other side of the room.
Lindsay looked up and saw Kelsey heading towards them.
“Hey,” she said.
“Hey Linds,” Kelsey said reaching them.
Then turning to Nick she put on her most charming smile.
“Hello, I’m Kelsey. Nice to meet you.”
“You too,” he said giving her a friendly smile then turning away.
Kelsey looked a little rejected. She gave up and took the other seat next to Lindsay.
She leaned over and whispered to Lindsay, “Why doesn’t he like me?”
“Not every boy has to like you,” Lindsay whispered back.
“But every boy does,” Kelsey said.
The teacher began the lesson so Lindsay didn’t have time to respond.
Kelsey mouthed, ‘Later’ and Lindsay nodded.
Lindsay turned back to their teacher and tried to keep her mind on the lesson but she couldn’t. Every once in a while she would look over at nick and he’d look at her and smile. She’d smile back and then turn back to the teacher.
After class, Lindsay helped Nick find his locker. Much to both of their liking, Nick’s locker was next to Lindsay’s. Nick and Lindsay both began to get stuff from their lockers.
“Hey Lindsay,” Nick said closing his locker.
“Yeah?” Lindsay answered from behind her locker door.
“Would you mind showing me around town after school today?”
Lindsay closed her locker door and found Nick leaning against them looking at her.
“Sure,” she said feeling her face get warm.
“Great, see you later,” Nick said and headed off to his next class.
“Hope he can find his way to class,” Lindsay said to herself and headed off to her own class.

After school, Lindsay waited for Nick at their lockers. 5 minutes later Nick came nearly running down the hall.
“Sorry,” he said opening his locker. “I got lost back by the water fountain.”
Lindsay laughed. “That’s okay. This school is kind of confusing.”
“You’re telling me,” Nick said laughing too.
“So, what do you want me to show you?” Lindsay asked.
“I want to see all of your favorite spots,” Nick said. “I want to know everything you do for fun.”
Lindsay blushed. “Ok, let’s go.”
For the next two hours, Lindsay took Nick to all of her favorite places. Her favorite restaurants, stores, and even her ‘secret’ spot that no one knew about except her. Not even Kelsey knew about it.
“Well, thanks for showing me around,” Nick said standing outside Lindsay’s front door.
“No problem. Are you sure you can find your way home?”
“Yeah, I’ll be fine,” Nick said.
“Okay, see you Monday,” Lindsay said opening her front door.
“See you,” Nick said and headed home.

Later that evening Kelsey called Lindsay.
“Lindsay, what’s wrong with me?”
“What are you talking about?” Lindsay asked.
“Why doesn’t Nick like me? Am I ugly, was I rude, impolite, do I have a huge zit on my forehead? Have I just lost my charm?”
“Kelsey, calm down. Just because one boy doesn’t like you it doesn’t mean the world is coming to an end.”
“But I think I really like this one,” Kelsey whined.
“Whatever,” Lindsay said. “Besides, you don’t even know him.”
“So,” Kelsey argued.
“So, maybe I like him,” Lindsay said.
“Maybe, I don’t care,” Kelsey said. “Maybe I want him more!”
“Maybe he wants me!” Lindsay said the anger rising in her voice.
“That’s impossible!” Kelsey shouted.
“And why is that?” Lindsay said, her voice wavering.
“Because he isn’t dumb enough to like someone like you!” Kelsey said.
“And who is someone like me?” Lindsay demanded.
“A bossy, selfish, arrogant, stubborn, stuck up brat who doesn’t know left from right!” Kelsey said.
“That’s not true!” Lindsay said trying to hold back the tears threatening to pour over.
“You bet it is!”
“Well fine! Be that way! I’m hanging up!”
“Let me save you the trouble!” Kelsey shouted one last time and hung up.
