Chapter 2

Kay’s POV
“Seriously?” Joe asked nervously, looking over to Tommy.
“Yea, seriously. Can you guys go over to that big arena and I will be with you in a second,” I said.
The three boys walked off, leaving me and their hyperventilating manager.
“It will be fine. I have coached plenty of people,” I assured him.
“You hurt one hair on their head and I will sue you for all you are worth,” he said, then walked back to the van, got in it, and drove off.
“Some one didn’t have their coffee this morning,” I said.
The stable hand walked up to me and handed me a couple of carrots that I quickly shoved into my pockets.
“Is there anything else ma’am?” he asked.
“Uh, can you tell Brianna that I have Taz ready and for her to meet me at the big arena?”
“Of course,” he said, and hurried off, once again.
When I walked up to the boys, Kevin and Nick were happily petting Taz, who was tied to the post. And Joe on the other hand was eyeing him cautiously.
“You know he’s not going to hurt you,” I said.
“Of course I know that,” he replied.
Taz started to nudge at my pockets, and started liping my side.
“Be careful it’s going to eat you!” Joe yelled.
“He’s a he not an it.” I said. “And he just wants this,” Pulling the carrot out of my pocket, I fed it to him.
“What are you doing?!?” said a high pitched voice from behind.
I turned around to see Brianna.
“You know he’s on a very strict diet,” she said, walking over to me.
“Brianna… I’m so glad you’re here,” I said through gritted teeth. “Taz has been working hard in training and I think it is time for you to start riding him,”
“Yay!” she said, putting on her helmet. She slipped under the fence and went to her horse’s side. She got up and into the saddle and adjusted her stirrups.
The whole time the three boys were watching in complete silence.
She pulled out a short whip from inside her tall boot and gathered the reins in her hands.
“Oh Brianna, no, he’s afraid of whips,” I said.
“Please,” she started, “No horse is afraid of a whip. Plus I need it to make him jump high,” And with that, and a kick to his underbelly, she was off.
I turned to the guys and said, “Lesson number one, listen to the trainer; I know what I am talking about.”
After a couple of undisturbed circles around the arena, Brianna lined up to a jump. Just before she reached the wooden post, Brianna gave Taz a flick with her whip. In midair, the horse threw Brianna off. She fell to the dirt and Taz ran over to the other side of the arena, with fear in his eyes.
“Whoa,” Kevin said.
“Yea, I know, and he’s such a great horse with such a stupid owner…” I said.
