Here's my new story, Lace and Tears, obviously... please comment and check out my other fic, Just Friends. :-) Bop On- Bri
“So what happened between you and him?” Margo questioned again.
“Go-go, I told you.” Alysha Taylor told her friend. “We broke up.”
“He asked you to marry him!” Margo pointed out.
“Three years ago he asked me to elope, twice.” Alysha corrected, looking up from the schoolbook in front of her.
“And you turned down the hottest guy in the world!” Margo pulled down the blinds in front of the windows.
Alysha rolled her eyes. “Tell me something I don’t know.”
“Um, he’s engaged?” Margo tried.
Alysha whirled around so fast she nearly fell off her stool. “Say what?”
Margo smiled sweetly. “Just kidding.”
“Not fair!” Alysha wailed, slamming her head on the textbook in front of her. “Oww…”
Margo opened the cash drawer in the register, pulling the money out and starting to count it. “Next time you should warn me.”
Alysha plugged her iPod in to the speakers on the counter. “Subject change now, please.” She turned it up and Bowling For Soup’s “1985” began to blast through the empty Starbucks.
“Aly. Come on.” Margo sighed. “We’ve only listened to this song three thousand times.”
“Fine, I’ll change it.” Alysha skipped it and froze as “Time for Me to Fly” came on. “He sang this to me when I dumped him.” She whispered.
“Skip it.” Margo leaned across her friend and changed the song. “Better?” She asked.
Alysha shook herself out of her doze. “Yeah, thanks.” She returned to the English text in front of her. “Remind me why I’m doing this again?”
“Because you like school.” Margo told her, returning to the cash register.
“Oh yeah.” Alysha propped her head on her hand, drumming her pencil on the counter. “What time is it?”
“Summer time!” Margo cheered, stopping when Alysha glared at her. “Around ten.”
“Thank you.” Alysha yawned, eyes watering.
“Someone needs some sleep.” Margo said in a sing-song voice. Alysha cheered as “Skater Boy” came on. She got up and began to lip-sync, dancing around the empty restaurant. “My point has been proven.” Margo said, gesturing toward Alysha.
“Don’t be mean, Go-go.” Alysha said, still dancing.
“Aly, sit down before you give me nightmares.” Margo pleaded.
“Close your eyes.” Alysha responded, not stopping.
The bell chimed, but neither girl heard it. “You haven’t changed a bit.” A voice said behind Aly, who froze. She turned around, looking at the man of her dreams…and nightmares.
