Chapter 1: If I could see into the future
*Megan's POV*
I leaned against the window looking at the white, puffy clouds flaoting in the air. I moved my nose away from the window and wipe off the smudges. I glanced over at my mom and dad, who were contently watching t.v. on their headsets. My mom glanced over to me and smiled. I quickly turned away, I don't want her to see me happy when I'm actually not. I slowly turned my head back and looked at my sister, Libby, who was silently napping next to me.
"DING!!" I looked up and I saw that the seatbelts sigh shut off. I quickly unbuckled my seatbelt and peered out of the window, to take my last look at Africa befor it got too dark.
Yeah, I said Africa. My mom and dad were a part of the Peace Corps ever since I was a baby. But after Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, they are now stationed back in the United States, against my will.
I mean, I have always moved around a lot but Africa was different. My life was there but nobody seemed to care. My parents were excited because we can finally be a "normal family", Libby is excited because she has never been to the U.S. before. I've been to New York City before but it was crowded, dirty, and smelly, let's just say that I didn't like it. I love the air of Africa, the year-long summer heat in the day and the smooth chilly wind at night. Nothing like New York City.
Still against my will, I'm on a airplane from South Africa to New York City, where the Peace Corps headquarters is located.
I close my eyes and tried to fall asleep, no luck. I turned on the t.v. and looked for some of my favorite shows, I couldn't find any-- all American shows apparently, I thought to myself.
I shut off the t.v. and I decided to listent some music, hopefully something I knew. I switched to the Radio Disney channel-- I got really excited because I actually watched Disney movies before like Cinderella and Lion King.
I turned it up: All I heard was:
"We're the kids, we're the kids, we're the kids of the future! We're the kids, we're the kids, we're the kids of the future!"
"I get it! I get it! We're the kids of the future!" I said loudly whil throwing my headphones on the ground.
"What did you say, Meg" Libby asked curiously.
"Oh...nothing. America is just going to be alot different" I replied quietly.
**How was it? Everyone else will come in later...comments are much appreciated!!**
