Prologue

     It all started when I was only 8. My mom and I sat in a hospital room where my dad layed on a bed. My sister Emily was only 3 then and was being watched by our grandmother. Mom had tears running down her cheeks as she clutched dads hands. I didn't know much about that kind of stuff then so I just sat there wondering why mom was crying and why there was a beeping noise coming from a machine.  Suddenly the beeping grew faster and people rushed in the room making me and my mom leave the room. I sat there in horror wanting to know why I couldn't see daddy.

    After about 30 or so minutes one of the people came out with a saddened face.

"Miss could I speak to you?" was what I remember him asking mom nodded and walked over to him. As he talked mom got a look of terror before walking back to me.

"Come on Melissa lets go home." was all she said not even waiting for me as she walked down the hallway.

"But Mommy what about Daddy we can't leave without him!" I yelled as i ran up to her. She started crying and at that moment i knew exacly what happened daddy wasn't coming home, he never would.....
