Chapter 2 - You can't love half of a person.
Cassette walked into her roommate Mel's room lazily, her puppy Bella walking after her, Mel wasn't asleep, but she was laying in bed watching TV. Cassette hopped in bed next to her best friend, her eyes on Spongebob. "How was your night?" Mel asked during a commercial. Cass and Mel take their Spongebob seriously. Meaning no talking when said show was on.
Cassette smiled, "Great!" She was saying it somewhat honestly. The thing that happened still hurt, but she was willing to get over it.
"So you told Nick he RAPED you?" Cassette winced. She had ran home that night and Mel was waiting home for her when she got there, dirty and messy and crying. She had no choice but to tell Mel everything.
"He didn't--" Cassette cut in.
"Cass, I know you. You were waiting. So was he! You would have said no if not for you, then for him. And you DID say no; even if you deny it, and that'd mean it was rape. Did you tell him?" She said the last sentence a little louder, tired of the question being dodged.
Spogebob was back on, but neither was paying it any attention. "Mel, you know Nick. If I told him that he did something so... horrible... he would never forgive himself! I don't want to put that burden on him! I love him, and thats enough!"
Mel was silent for a while before saying the sentence that Cassette will think about for the next few weeks. "You can't only love half of someone. Now that you've seen the other half of Nick, even if he wasn't himself, you'll never look at him the same, even if you convince yourself you will."
Cassette jumped out of Mels bed and glared. "What do you know? I love Nicholas Jerry! I'm not going to stop loving him because of one mistake he made! HE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW HE MADE IT! I can't believe you!" She yelled walking to the door.
Before she was there, Mel spoke the final sentence. "Fine. But you should take off your promise ring, at least. He may not know what happened, but you do." Cassette closed her teary eyes. Before turning and throwing the ring at Mel, and running out of the room. When Cassette was out of earshot Mel looked now at the ring teary eyed and whispered to no one, "I'm just worried.."
